[Gaming] Elder Scrolls 5 - Dawnguard is HERE!

Actually, now that I think about it, that would make a great driving force for the Aldmeri story: The Aldmeri (being assholes) refuse to acknowledge Talos because he was a human before becoming the last Divine. So what if they tried to make their own Elven Divine by stealing the power of Talos? Would that be enough to get Skyrim off it's ass and to fight the Aldmeri again?

I thought it was disappointing how small of a role TALOS had in Skyrim. He's FROM Skyrim. People are forbidden from worshiping him. You'd think he'd have done something about it.
Aedra for the most part are not as "active" as the Daedra, preferring to simply provide blessings and other boons to those that wish to worship them. You rarely have one come out and openly involve himself in the world, and even then it usually only happens when the Draedric Princes are involved, since the Deadra are "aliens" to Nirn, while the Aedra are the creators and ancestors of Nirn. The Daedra had a pretty small role in Skyrim.

I think I remember also hearing that, because the Aedra created Nirn using much of their spiritual essence, that they weaken the longer they stay too close to the realm. This is supposedly how Lorkhan died, as it drained him completely during the times of creation. It could be that Talos himself gained this limitation. He might have to use a host to even return at all (which would actually be a pretty neat expansion, having Talos possess you).

Here's some Dawnguard info from Game Informer:

•"Story of Dawnguard involves the return of a vampire lord named Harkon, who seeks to put stop to his greatest enemy: The sun."
•You choose sides:fight alongside the Dawnguard (vamp hunters) or join Harkon, "a lot of unique content depending on which side you choose"
•Two new homes, one for each side of the conflict.
•If you choose to side with Harkon you can become a 'Vampire Lord', grants you new powers, players can exit vampire lord form at will.
•Vampire lords & werewolves now have their own perk tree.
•Legendary dragons are new high level beasts,Gargoyles, death hounds and armored trolls.

•Crossbows being added
•Some quests will take you into the oblivion realm, specifically 'The Soul Cairn' the realm of trapped souls
•you can change your face/gender via a character in Riften's ratway.
•New shouts like 'soul tear',where you steal the soul of a dead enemy and use it as a minion.

Today I visited a mill somewhere in the Falkreath vicinity. I thought it was just a normal place with one woman working the mill. Went into her shed and found some beef slabs, thought I'd help myself... then I found the bloody rags and a blood-caked human skull.

-_-

So, I killed the abomination, stole her stuff, and decided I needed to be rid of the body via sawmill. My wife and I figured this wouldn't work, but was worth a shot.

It began to saw her leg, and then her leg got stuck and her whole body flung up and down with the movement of the saw blade, stuck to it. My wife said Shego would be proud. Sadly, we could not get it to repeat.

So I dumped her in the river and went on my way.

No offense, but I think I'd stay away from the back alley doctor offering sex changes... I don't think that's ever gone well for anyone.
Or just open to console and type showracemenu (on PCs)

I'd do this so it'll reset my eyes which tended to have a white graphic glitch occasionally when using the show life signs shout.

I thought that also reset your level back to 1, though.

I'm still trying to work out why Daggerfall had vampires and werewolves playable in the base game, where they've been the base of the expansions for every TES game since. It's not even surprising, frankly, I think it's a bit boring. Expansion of Morrowind: Be a Vampire! Expansion of Oblivion: Be a Vampire! Expansion of Skyrim: Be a Vampire! Dudes, if you have such a hard-on for Buffy, go make a Buffy game.

Vampires and Werewolves are playable in the base Skyrim game... Though werewolves are the only one with a lot of faction focus due to the Companions. To become a vampire you just fight vampires till you get Sanguinare Vampiris, then just wait for it to transform you.

Also, this is the reverse of how it was in Morrowind, where you had a rather lengthy quest line for being a vampire, right out of the box.

What Oblivion expansion was about vampires? Also, Morrowind's weren't about vampires either.

Yup, it was actually werewolves that were added in the Morrowind expansion, not vampires.
And it was the best expansion. Bloodmoon ruled hard.

Oblivion didn't get expansions BASED on vampires per-say, but they did get a few things from DLC (the Dark Sanctuary had vampire focused stuff) and the Dark Brotherhood has traditionally offered an easy way to catch vampirism. But Oblivion was pretty weak on the whole as it was.

Oblivion had a rather lengthy quest chain in vanilla that dealt with the removal of the vampiric curse.

Yeah, but that's standard kit since Morrowind at least. They always give you an out because of just how hard it is to function as a Vampire in the main quest.

Honestly, if they would change ONE THING, it would be for them to always make it night when you quick travel as a Vampire. Doing quick travel in Oblivion (as a vampire) was an easy way to get yourself killed because of the Sun.

Playing an Argonian now (I've never had alt-itis before on a single-player game) and I'm at last able to appreciate the breadth of wildlife Bethesda put into Skyrim's waters.

Like rabbits and moose running around the river bottoms...

Wanted to play some Skyrim tonight, open game.... oops SKSE is outdated... new patch is out... OK

Updated all my mods... open game.

Oooh mounted combat? Cool, let's try it.

Suddenly I'm standing on my horse, arms perpendicular to my body like I'm in a circus...

OK...

Try to fight a bandit.... animations are all fucked up... I can swing my 2 handed sword every 1/4 a second... damage to enemy is taken... but I never swung...

WTF is going on.

Check forums...

Many people having bugs....

Close game...

*grumble*

I played Skyrim tonight. On my PS3.

No updates; no problems! :D

Except when I was out naked and a dragon attacked. Almost beat it with my magic. Almost.
