[Webcomic] PVP Discussion

I kinda liked the introduction of Cole's daughter as a new character, but I dunno if I'm really feeling a very special episode where we can learn the lesson that fat people can have friends too. Is this a thing? Maybe if it was her talking about getting a boyfriend/girlfriend, but I'm fat and I've never been "too uncomfortable" to see friends because of it.
Speaking as someone who got fat, lost 100 pounds, then gained it all back again, I can tell you it really does change the comfort level of "putting yourself out there" or even dealing with friends and relatives. It can be paralyzing, imagining their inner monologue, "Ew, wow, you really let yourself go, how sad, what happened, I thought you were *losing* weight" etc. In our techological age, it becomes seductively easy to just eschew real life personal contact in favor of the internet, where you don't have to feel eyes upon you, eyes of pity, disgust, or disappointment.

That said, this comic arc is still kinda sounding off key to me.

Sorry about that.

I was trying to use an image instead of the direct link since I figured that there was a good chance he would delete it sometime soon.

The problem with his statement isn't that he's wrong, necessarily, it's just that he's not casting the net wide enough. PEOPLE are fucking terrible. It's just that we have a majority of white people in this country, so that's the fucking terrible people in power so we see their excesses more. If we were in an African country, we'd see how the black leaders and those in power are fucking terrible. If we were in an Asian country, we'd see how fucking terrible the Asians are. Etc. etc.

So he's right...sort of. But he's more wrong than right.

To be fair, many of the black leaders in Africa ARE hella terrible.
But it’s not because they’re black.

Right, but if they are the majority, then the correlation will be made. Just like the white people Kurtz is talking about aren't terrible because they are white.

Maybe Kurtz just realized how horrible he is, and rather than fully accept personal responsibility for all his own dick-ish transgressions, he's deflecting a bit by making it about all white people.

Or he's courting Tumblr. Watch the noses, people. Watch. The. Noses.

You should see the HEB the day before Thanksgiving or Christmas. All the King Arthur flour is gone. It's the best flour for bread and biscuits.

You know, the whole Thanksgiving/Jurassic Park thread was pretty good. I'll admit I actually laughed out loud at one panel.

Stay classy, Kurtz.

It's funny. I'm so used to Halforums that I completely forgot we formed when he nuked his forums. I know some folk here still read the comic, but I completely forgot about it and him until someone I follow retweeted this.

And Kurtz continues to show that his success is more luck than business savvy. He's definitely got art skills, and a creative mind, but he lucked out in the timing of his comic.
Someone else tweeted to him that his success largely came from being on the ground floor of webcomics, supported by other up-and-comers, one of which became a huge hit with their own gaming convention. And that's about as true as it comes.
