I'm guessing this is the first time Kurtz has paid attention to politics, and is finding it can be funny to him, and is awkwardly trying to fit his interest into the comic.

Ok, so today's comic...

Is scratch not hiding that he can talk anymore? I know it's been established that he can speak english for real and its not like translated cat, but brent seems to not be able to understand, or at the very least isn't surprised by this.

Nah, they aren't having a conversation. For all we know Brent might be hearing "Meow."

I never saw a comic where Scratch spoke english to a human (other than semi-mythical beings like Santa Claus)... when did that happen?

Also, I can't find the original post, but Scott talked about it at some point
You know how from time to time, a publication needs to issue a correction to something they wrote in a previous edition? Well, I need to offer a correction to one of my own strips.

In our June 12th episode, Scratch Fury is seen speaking out loud in front of humans. In the last panel, we see that from the human’s point of view, Scratch is simply making meowing noises. This has confused many readers, as the strip seems to imply that humans can not understand Scratch’s speech.

As established in previous strip continuity, Scratch is a hyper-intelligent cat capable of real speech. If accidentally overheard, humans would be able to easily making out the certainly perfect English that Scratch is speaking.

The strip on the 12th was a huge oversight on my part. Sloppy writing plain and simple. In the last panel, Scratch is simply making nervous cat noises, but that does not excuse the point that Cole, Marcy and Francis would clearly have freaked out at hearing a cat lecturing them in perfect English.

In the spirit of the old Marvel No-Prizes, I sat down to come up with an plausible explanation that would allow me to save face and explain my error. I believe I have come up with a suitable edit. Please let me know if you agree.

We thank you for your time.

I think that he was trying to imply that it fell on them, a couple of strips back it was actually supported by something and not just over their heads.

Yeah, I'm not seeing it. It cuts from inside, where they can look at each other's faces, to outside where the blanket is clearly covering their heads far enough that they wouldn't be able to see each other, back to inside where they can see each other. There's no consistency.

Welcome to PVP.

Seriously, he couldn't consistently draw the tumor Val at the same height over the course of 3 strips.

Don't forget the laziness of not drawing a decent blanket fort to begin with. Good grief, you think it would be fun to turn the PvP office into a blanket fort.

Also, what Sparhawk thinks happened, that the fort collapsed on them, would have been a funny moment... if it had actually happened.

<External shot of an actual blanket fort> "I'm going out there." "But what if it's a monste..." *THUMP*

EEEEEEE! *WHUMPH* <panel of onomatopoeia>

<Shot of the blanket covered trio as just lumps under the collapsed fort, with a shadow looming from outside>

So...Kurtz writes an essay on the importance of representation in media, and then immediately introduces a very "Tumblr-y" character.

Ahh, silhouettes, one of the last times Allen Who is Quiet posted here was letting me know what kind of stupid dipshit I was for criticizing those.

Oh shit, it was literally the last time he posted here.

I kinda liked the introduction of Cole's daughter as a new character, but I dunno if I'm really feeling a very special episode where we can learn the lesson that fat people can have friends too. Is this a thing? Maybe if it was her talking about getting a boyfriend/girlfriend, but I'm fat and I've never been "too uncomfortable" to see friends because of it.
