Maybe they prefer "Not- is"?

A car plowed through people protesting against the Nazi march.

Richard Spencer has been arrested.

No word yet if those pieces of news are are connected.

Well, hiding the vehicle is going to be difficult, and with the potential for having a dozen or more counts each of murder, assault, etc. levied at him, it shouldn't be too hard to secure a conviction on the video evidence alone, assuming any of the footage places the eventual suspect as actually being in the car at the time.

I know. Yes they were in the air because of the other crap, but, it's an entirely different event. More than likely we would have heard about this happening even if some idiot hadn't tried to kill people today.

You're a lot more optimistic then i am, clearly.
He's saying that this shit is happening because people have been ignoring its growth. How is that optimistic?

I don't know if I should classify this as optimism either: I've seen the sideliners going "why can't we get along?" when they have nothing to lose, but only yesterday did I see someone suggesting that the solution to Nazis was magic, i.e. using positive thinking to will the Nazis into not being hateful. I'll have to try that one when the new Wolfenstein game comes out.

Because it implies it grew in the dark, like mould, fearful of the cleansing rays of the sun. Instead of it always being there, but being slowly made resistant to UV radiation by people farming it for decades so it can grow out in the open, even when people can no longer ignore it.

You're still not explaining how that's optimistic. It paints a dim picture of people, to me. I see a lot of "how could this be happening? This is not America!" And it speaks to how sheltered a lot of people are, enjoying the benefit of not experiencing the problem that affects others.

You really think that's a more dim picture of people then when they embrace (or even tolerate) those sort of ideologies because they're being sold to them with the right words?

I think it's more that zero doesn't realize that you were seeing this as people buying what they're sold (I didn't), or even if he did (as now I do), both pictures are awfully dim and neither is at all an optimistic view.

Right; both suck, neither is optimistic, and @lien, you were asked for clarity a couple times before stating your basis for comparison.

Also keep in mind you're talking about two different groups. Krisken's talking about the non-participants. You're talking about the recruits.

If they introduced the sport right now schools and parents would go out of their minds boycotting it and not allowing teams to be formed.
