The Undisputed Unified Wrestling Thread

Money in the Bank was last night. Overall I'm pleased. Ladder matches were good, including the WWE Championship ladder match, which I thought was going to be a stinker. WWE Championship match was as excellent as ever.

  • Dolph Ziggler wins the Blu briefcase!!!!!!!!!! Tyson Kidd did well for himself, nice to see him utilized.
  • Miz Returns. Enters himself into the WWE Chamionship ladder match
  • Prime Time Players loose to Epico and Primo
  • Sheamus retains over Del Rio, Ziggler tries to cash in, argues with Del Rio, argues with Ref, gets brogue kicked before the ref can ring the bell
  • He still has the briefcase.
  • CM Punk retains over Daniel Bryan. YES! YES! YES! (honestly I would have been happy with whomever won)
  • The Ryback is unleashed, appears to almost loose to Tyler Rex and Curt Hawkins.
  • 6-woman tag match. Actually goes on for an okay amount of time
  • Big Show gets burried in ladders, has a special ladder for himself. Cena beats Shows head with the briefcase, ripping it off the handle. Great job by everyone involved. Kane is just solid at anything, Jericho is still awesome, and the Miz continued to be a worthless snake that doesn't belong.

Raw 1000 was great. Not many matches, but a wonderful celebration of the show. If you weren't marking out you're dead inside, or a young fan. Avoiding the dirt sheets made for a lot of fun surprises. If you missed it I would definitely *ahem* check it out.

Obligatory AJ moment!

"The uploader has not made this video available in your country." Oh, COME ON.

I thought the show was okay, at best. For three hours, we had maybe 30-35 minutes of actual wrestling.

There were some good segments, like the HHH/Brock segment, which Steph totally made watchable (in more ways than one :unibrow:). CM Punk's turn at the end was awesome. And it was surreal to see most of DX reunited.

That said, while there were some storylines continued, it was mostly a nothing show. Sure, it was fun to see who appeared, but almost none of them did anything worthwhile. It was like nostalgia porn or fan service, shoving notable figure after notable figure in your face, shouting, "Look who it is! See them! Here they are! And now that you see them, poof! They're gone!"

That said, Mae Young's hand was hilarious.

So, I'm watching RAW 1000 now and they gave a prize to the 100,000,000th social media follower? So basically, some asshole who was late to the party in supporting them gets the accolades and wins a trip? Lesson is clear, don't support them until the very last minute.

Can't help but feel they really wasted the whole DX reunion. Vince introducing them!?! With no confrontation or harassment? Nah, that ain't right.

Nice of them to help put Damian Sandow over.
Is that sarcasm? Because my definition of putting someone over would be having him actually get a one-up on the situation. He got flattened like a jobber.[DOUBLEPOST=1343155144][/DOUBLEPOST]As far as Jack Swagger goes, he had his chance. He didn't get over.
(It doesn't help that they shoved him down our throat, whether we wanted him or not.)

eh the rub then (stupid carny terms). Although him going over on DX would have skyrocketed him to one of the most hated heels in the company. Still him being in a segment with DX certainly helps him more than not being a segment with DX, even if he got put through a chain of finishers faster than Ricardo Rodriquez.

Speaking of shoved down our throat...
Was anyone else shocked that Miz won the IC with a clean win? I hope that becomes a regular thing. He would be a much better heel if he could be a cocky heel that has at least something behind him (other than Alex Reilly).

It's Triple H, of course he wasn't going to get any sort of leg up. Brock Lesnar can't even do that.
Yeah, but has anyone ever actually liked Lesnar - ever? The guy plays an ass on the show, and pretty much is an ass outside, too.

This is an oldie but amazey. Single best promo ever. Scott Steiner is a national treasure.

That is one of the best promos I've seen. I'm going to memorize this, remove specific wrestler names and use this speech on my coworkers tomorrow.

So, anyone know if there's been a pen & paper Pro Wrestling RPG?

Would anyone be interested in such a thing?

A friend of mine and I have a home-brewed system, but moved away from it a number of years ago. We kept trying to play-test it and get it off the ground, but it just never happened. But the times that we had play-tested it, the people that played it really dug it. It was a re-working of a system he originally created back in high school that a bunch of our friends and us loved.

I'm thinking of a d6 system, like Green Ronin's Dragon Age or Song of Ice and Fire RPGs. Stats would be Muscle, Endurance, Agility, Technique, Appeal, Speed, and Smarts. Muscle would grant bonuses to throws and slams and increase striking damage. Endurance would resist Submission attacks, determine stamina, and soak damage. Agility would increase striking accuracy, and grant bonuses to leaping and running attacks. Technique would grant bonuses to submission and counter-attacks, and be used for escaping holds. Appeal grants bonuses to your advancement rate and promotional efforts, and increases crowd support. Speed grants bonuses to initiative and dodging striking attacks, and increases how far you can move per round (leaping, running, climbing). Smarts is for dirty attacks (both committing and watching out for) and behind-the-scenes efforts - playing opponents off each other, forming factions, etc. Each attribute has a score of 1-6, you roll a d6 for each point you have in it vs a target number.

NPC wrestler types: jobber (mook), mid-card, local favorite, elite jobber (the guy who can wipe the mat with other jobbers but always loses to the big-stars), titan, juggernaut.

Classes: Bruiser (heavyweight/super heavyweight, focuses on power and endurance), Striker (heavyweight/cruiserweight, all-arounder usually with a background in boxing or martial arts / MMA) , Technician (any weight class, focus on technique and smarts), Luchadore (cruiserweight, high flying and fearless, focus on agility and speed) , Crowdpleaser (any weight class, focus on Appeal and smarts).

Yep, we had some of that, actually. 6 stats: Strength, Dexterity, Stamina, Toughness, Intelligence, and Charisma. Used different die, like 1D4 punches and 3D8 finishers.

What the hell is up with all the Facebook notices about "the undertaker" being dead?

It seems very inappropriate with the number of wrestlers that have actually died recently.

Seriously, what the hell was Dolph going for with that?

I'm getting sick of the one man band. Seriously, they drop John Morrison and keep this guy? Standards, man.

Miz did commentary last night. It wasn't "Awwwful." Actually it was quite fresh, and while he started out rough, you could definitely hear him improve throughout the night.

So after

Daniel Bryan and Kane were sent to anger management therapy (hilarious segments you should youtube them). How did it work out?

How is this possible?

Booker T, from the 2008 TNA Impact game.

Booker T, from the most recent WWE game.

How?
