New post-Wrestlemania wrestling thread.

  • Last nights Raw crowd was crazy. Loved the "Yes", "No", and "Si" chants.
  • Rock wants to hold the belt again, say it will happen and his match with Cena was just the beginning.
  • Santino retains the US Championship against Dolph Ziggler and Jack Swagger. The Funkasarous stops the post match beat down, and the Milan Miracle joins in the funky dancing.
  • Lord Tensai re-debut's and squashes Alex Riley.
  • Chris Jericho introduces CM Punk to his friend Jack Daniels.
  • Sheamus will face Alberto Del Rio (Si, Si, Si, Si) this Friday on Smackdown to earn a future shot at the WHC. Sheamus is being boo'd and drowned out by Daniel Bryan chants his entire segment. I feel bad for the guy because it's not like he booked the match.
  • Big Show presents an embarrassing Cody Rhodes Wrestlemania moment.
  • Miz defeats the Long Island Ice Z, possible feud here?
  • John Cena comes out to explain how he lost to the better opponent and that he would not be making excuses or turning heel. Offers respect to the Rock ("We want Lesner"), mentions the crowd as the reason he likes Raw ("Yes, Yes, Yes"), and gives a shout out to Daniel Bryan.
Brock Lesnar returns walks to the ring, Cena extends a hand, he takes it, then hits the F-5 on John Cena, ending the show.

BAH! BAH I SAY!

So I'm slowly getting into ROH, it's not worth watching on tv, but I signed up so I can watch a stream of the show the next Thursday. I like that they don't try and be a direct competitor with the WWE, like a certain other company that's trying to make an iMPACT. Also the fact that each match gets a good amount of time.

Extreme Rules is tonight, and WWE is having a pre-show stream live on YouTube, like they did with Wrestlemania. Santino will defend his US Championship against the Miz, and the stipulation of Cody Rhodes and Big Show's Intercontinental Title match will be determined via a spin of the wheel.

Some quick thoughts:

I hope Big Show's current angle turns him back into an angry wrecking machine.
I have been thoroughly impressed by Daniel Bryan's mic skills. Also, I can't wait to see him and Punk in the ring again. They gave us some great champ vs champ matches.
I hope the tag team division actually starts to pick up, as they seem to be foreshadowing.
Does anyone else think that Sheamus' title run is falling a bit.. dull?

So Chris Jericho was suspended 30 days for desecrating the Brazilian flag. Apparently it's considered a misdemeanor in Brazil.
Kind of unfortunate, seeing as how often flags have been disrespected in wrestling. I understand the need by WWE to show that they are disciplining bad behavior, but I'm sure had Jericho even informed the crew of his intentions, no one would have known to tell him to not touch the flag.
Flag disrespecting is nothing new to wrestling. I can remember Shawn Michaels putting Canada's flag up his nose. And Iron Sheik throwing the American flag on the ground on several occasions.

Poor decision by Jericho, but I think the suspension may have been a bit excessive. Maybe this will mean he'll stick around at least 30 days longer now ;)

#26

Covar

Covar

Since they're going to need to scrap their Y2J/RKO feud maybe they can have Orton feud with Sheamus. Those two being at each other's throats was the only thing interesting about the buildup for the fatal four way match at Over the Limit.

I think Big Show and Cena will be good, and I'm really glad they're continuing the Daniel Bryan CM Punk feud. Now I just hope they have Christian and Cody Rhodes in a program for the IC belt. I find Cody to be one of the most talented young guys (next to Ziggler) on the roster right now, but he still needs that "I'm credible" push.

#27

Frank

Frank

Remember when JBL committed a crime in Germany and lost his job with CNBC because of it. He got suspended too.

No wait, he immediately went on to have a 9 month title reign as top heel of the company.

#28

Bumble the Boy Wonder

Bumble the Boy Wonder

I find Cody to be one of the most talented young guys (next to Ziggler) on the roster right now, but he still needs that "I'm credible" push.
I love watching those two, Ziggler and Rhodes, and I think they need credible opponents such as Christian and R Truth in the US and IC title pictures. I think they're still a bit young for a title reign, but I don't mean that in a sense that they don't deserve the major straps. I just would like to see the IC and US belts remain relevant instead of using it to build the current youngsters to main event level and resetting the mid-card belts to worthless..

#29

Why do they call her the Geek Goddess?
Because she calls herself such and enjoys video games and comic books.

Also how long does Orton stay with the WWE? Apparently they are so pissed off at him they are thinking of firing him for his steroid abuse. Logic being that when he returns they can't push him back to the main event or risk making themselves look like hypocrites to the locker room, so that leaves him the highest paid midcarder in history, which is economic lunacy.

This Sunday at No Way Out:
  • David Otunga faces Brodus Clay in the preshow. Smackdown had Otunga come out and beat on Clays leg, making this the first preshow match that has some setup. Would be nice if this became a feud. Money still on Clay.
  • Santio and Ricardo Rodriguez face off in a Tuxedo match. Is this like a Bra and panties match? My money is on the US Champ.
  • Cody Rhodes and Christian for the IC title. I don't care who wins as long as the feud goes into Summer Slam.
  • Lelah vs Beth Phoenix for the Divas Championship. I honestly don't care.
  • Dolph Ziggler challenges Sheamus for the World Heavyweight Championship. I love the push for Ziggler, and would love for him to win, but I don't see it happening yet. Hopefully they continue his push, and this feud lasts longer.
  • CM Punk defends his WWE Championship against Kane and Daniel Bryan in a Triple Threat match. A.J. Will be involved. Question and answer time. Will CM Punk drop his title? YES! Does Kane lack the ability to get the pinfall or submission? YES! Will Daniel Bryan become the new WWE Champion? YES! YES! YES!
  • John Cena faces Big Show in a Steel Cage match with Vince McMahon at ringside. John will be fired, we're just not sure which John. With the 1000th Raw coming up I have a hard time seeing how they keep Johnny Ace in power but still have Cena around (unless he buys a ticket again).

WWE as a whole has really been terrible lately, from what I've been reading.

Funny enough, apparently TNA has been knocking everything out of the park in the last few months. Their last two PPV's have been outstanding.

#68

Covar

Covar

Raw's been Raw, Smackdown's been Smackdown, but this past Monday only had two real matches, Cena and Kane vs JeriShow (with the terrible ending mentioned above) and Daniel Bryan and Eve against CM Punk and AJ (which actually featured Diva's wrestling) everything else was either an unbearably long promo or a squash match (Heath Slater got to job twice, in a row).

It was almost as worthless as the Smackdown before Wrestlemania.

Bobby Roode and Austin Aries are the only thing worth watching on TNA. Everything else is terrible, beyond terrible to the point of disgusting.

The WWE has been a lot of fun recently, with some interesting storylines, BUT, what the fuck do they do after the massive 1000th episode of RAW. They may flounder on to Summerslam.

Money in the Bank was last night. Overall I'm pleased. Ladder matches were good, including the WWE Championship ladder match, which I thought was going to be a stinker. WWE Championship match was as excellent as ever.

  • Dolph Ziggler wins the Blu briefcase!!!!!!!!!! Tyson Kidd did well for himself, nice to see him utilized.
  • Miz Returns. Enters himself into the WWE Chamionship ladder match
  • Prime Time Players loose to Epico and Primo
  • Sheamus retains over Del Rio, Ziggler tries to cash in, argues with Del Rio, argues with Ref, gets brogue kicked before the ref can ring the bell
  • He still has the briefcase.
  • CM Punk retains over Daniel Bryan. YES! YES! YES! (honestly I would have been happy with whomever won)
  • The Ryback is unleashed, appears to almost loose to Tyler Rex and Curt Hawkins.
  • 6-woman tag match. Actually goes on for an okay amount of time
  • Big Show gets burried in ladders, has a special ladder for himself. Cena beats Shows head with the briefcase, ripping it off the handle. Great job by everyone involved. Kane is just solid at anything, Jericho is still awesome, and the Miz continued to be a worthless snake that doesn't belong.

"The uploader has not made this video available in your country." Oh, COME ON.

I thought the show was okay, at best. For three hours, we had maybe 30-35 minutes of actual wrestling.

There were some good segments, like the HHH/Brock segment, which Steph totally made watchable (in more ways than one :unibrow:). CM Punk's turn at the end was awesome. And it was surreal to see most of DX reunited.

That said, while there were some storylines continued, it was mostly a nothing show. Sure, it was fun to see who appeared, but almost none of them did anything worthwhile. It was like nostalgia porn or fan service, shoving notable figure after notable figure in your face, shouting, "Look who it is! See them! Here they are! And now that you see them, poof! They're gone!"

That said, Mae Young's hand was hilarious.

Nice of them to help put Damian Sandow over.
Is that sarcasm? Because my definition of putting someone over would be having him actually get a one-up on the situation. He got flattened like a jobber.[DOUBLEPOST=1343155144][/DOUBLEPOST]As far as Jack Swagger goes, he had his chance. He didn't get over.
(It doesn't help that they shoved him down our throat, whether we wanted him or not.)

#87

Covar

Covar

eh the rub then (stupid carny terms). Although him going over on DX would have skyrocketed him to one of the most hated heels in the company. Still him being in a segment with DX certainly helps him more than not being a segment with DX, even if he got put through a chain of finishers faster than Ricardo Rodriquez.

Speaking of shoved down our throat...
Was anyone else shocked that Miz won the IC with a clean win? I hope that becomes a regular thing. He would be a much better heel if he could be a cocky heel that has at least something behind him (other than Alex Reilly).

A friend of mine and I have a home-brewed system, but moved away from it a number of years ago. We kept trying to play-test it and get it off the ground, but it just never happened. But the times that we had play-tested it, the people that played it really dug it. It was a re-working of a system he originally created back in high school that a bunch of our friends and us loved.

But the times that we had play-tested it, the people that played it really dug it. It was a re-working of a system he originally created back in high school that a bunch of our friends and us loved.
I'm thinking of a d6 system, like Green Ronin's Dragon Age or Song of Ice and Fire RPGs. Stats would be Muscle, Endurance, Agility, Technique, Appeal, Speed, and Smarts. Muscle would grant bonuses to throws and slams and increase striking damage. Endurance would resist Submission attacks, determine stamina, and soak damage. Agility would increase striking accuracy, and grant bonuses to leaping and running attacks. Technique would grant bonuses to submission and counter-attacks, and be used for escaping holds. Appeal grants bonuses to your advancement rate and promotional efforts, and increases crowd support. Speed grants bonuses to initiative and dodging striking attacks, and increases how far you can move per round (leaping, running, climbing). Smarts is for dirty attacks (both committing and watching out for) and behind-the-scenes efforts - playing opponents off each other, forming factions, etc. Each attribute has a score of 1-6, you roll a d6 for each point you have in it vs a target number.

NPC wrestler types: jobber (mook), mid-card, local favorite, elite jobber (the guy who can wipe the mat with other jobbers but always loses to the big-stars), titan, juggernaut.

Classes: Bruiser (heavyweight/super heavyweight, focuses on power and endurance), Striker (heavyweight/cruiserweight, all-arounder usually with a background in boxing or martial arts / MMA) , Technician (any weight class, focus on technique and smarts), Luchadore (cruiserweight, high flying and fearless, focus on agility and speed) , Crowdpleaser (any weight class, focus on Appeal and smarts).

Taker-Punk at Wrestlemania. They weren't sure he would do it this year - the sticking issue being health or money. (Money.) the Cena-Punk match tonight was completely dependent on if Taker was in this year. If not, Punk would have won and taken on the Rock. This pretty much confirms Cena beats Rock, which lets Dwayne have an easier schedule for appearances and movie making.

Here we go - he's competing tonight, too!

Regarding the Fandangoing I loved that Cena danced along to it during his match.

Also best moment of the night, spoilered for those who haven't watched it yet (GO WATCH THIS WEEK'S RAW!)
Dolph Ziggler cashing in his Money in the Bank Briefcase to become the new World Heavyweight Champion. The crowd was demanding it during the entire match between Swagger and Del Rio, and when his music hit it sounded like the roof was being blown off the IZOD Center.

So Fandangoing is now a thing.

Seriously. His theme is now a top 40 hit, tearing up itunes, and being played as a victory theme at baseball games???

All because of New Jersey!

To be fair, wouldn't it be a global effort? I mean, I would guess that there was a good mix of NJ locals, as well as people leftover from traveling to see WM

I'm so happy the Fandango thing caught on though. I was a huge fan of Johnny Curtis on Santino's Foreign Exchange, and when it was revealed he was going to be debuting as Fandango, I won't lie by saying I wasn't worried.

I thought for sure he was going to flop. But he's really owning the character, and his personality continues to shine through, regardless of how silly the gimmick is.

Man, when THQ died, the one thing that might've turned out well is some other company getting the WWE game license and finally taking it away from Yukes. Then 2K gets the license and just immediately decides to let Yukes keep making the games.

In seriousness with a game (WWE14?) already in development prior to the sale, it would be a huge waste of mone not to continue on with Yukes for at least this year. Some notes:
  • Mark Henry deserves an Emmy for his performance.
  • Daniel Bryan continues to be one of the most amazing wrestlers in the company. He's making me care about a program with Orton.
  • We're finally getting a Shemus/Damian Sandow feud.
  • I'm sad there's no Divas that can keep up with AJ.
  • NXT is absolutely amazing. I'm serious guys it's fantastic. There's a manager with an ourtrageous French accent! William Regal on commentary, Dusty Rhodes as GM, long matches, great characters, belts that have significance, actual women's matches. If CM Punk and Daniel Bryan were on the show there'd be no reason to watch anything else.

I don't know what it is, but it feels like WWE is starting to fire on all cylinders these days. Last week's show was phenomnal, kicking off several new storylines. This week had the great segment between Punk and Heyman, and then a fantastic main event in Orton/Bryan.

As far as the Divas go, I keep hoping and praying that maybe Kharma will come back. Likely'll never happen, but I can hope. Given AJ's very tiny size, it'd make for a fantastic visual at least between the two.

Orton wins the Money in the Bank match. This is how they'll work in the heel turn he's been begging for, taking out John Cena and swiping the belt. Leaves room for Punk v. Brock, and sets up a crazed Daniel Bryan looking to avenge Kane. Just don't turn the Wyatt's into another Flock. Bryan's already got the beard for recruitment to the cult. They probably will put up RVD against Axel next for the IC title, since Rob's had some crazy matches for that belt before.

Sandow gets the other briefcase, possibly setting up a huge feud with Cody Rhodes. Ryback gets the win against Jericho, which sucks, because Jericho doesn't deserve to go out a jobber after being (and still is) one of the most entertaining guys they've ever had. It's Ryback and his repertoire of three moves that deserves to wash out.

Edit - Just read the results. Axel interfered and bashed Bryan with a chair. There's the next IC brawl.

I think the Axel thing had a lot more to do with the Punk/Heyman angle than it did Bryan. Also, The Ultimate Warrior will be working with WWE...sort of. He'll be featured in the upcoming game, WWE 2K14. Apparently, they're already talking of filming some promos for him and such. I doubt it'll be any more than this, much like when Macho Man did some promotional work for WWE All Stars.

The Ultimate Douchebag, eh? Sorry they're lowering themselves like that. I just remember the story Bret Hart told about him. A gravely ill Make a Wish kid was brought to a show and wanted to meet him. They only had a short time to be there. When he was informed, he got pissy and told them he'd do it later, going so far as to ignore them when he walked past. A bunch of the other guys met with the kid. When UW finally decided to spare a few minutes, they had already gone back to the hospital. They only asked for a few minutes of his time, and he couldn't even pay lip service.

#154

Covar

Covar

That's...really decent of him. Gotta respect that.
Yea, doesn't make me like the match or the really bad build up to it, but it makes me respect the hell out of Jericho even more. All that being said I hate, hate, HATE what they've done to the Ryback Character. They've destroyed a perfectly good muscle monster character for what seems like nothing. If he had stayed the tough as nails beast he was when feuding with Punk and Cena, and got a clean win over Y2J that would have been something.

So MITB is one of the 3 PPVs I order, and it was mostly a pretty good show. The pre-show tag match really should have been on the card proper. Rollins, Raines, and the Usos put on a heck of a tag match, and I say this as a person who's not a fan of Tag Team matches in general (The hot tag is one of the worst/laziest easy spots in wrestling).

The WHC money in the bank ladder match was possibly the match of the night. I'm sad to see Rhodes Scholars destroyed, but I love that both of them are going to get pushed now. They pushed this as the up-an-comers match, and they delivered. Lots of great moments.

Brad Maddox, the heel trying to be a face. Done wonderfully, going for cheap pops that Mick Foley would think is to forced, praising Vickie Guerrero, and insulting the city without realizing it.

The Miz getting Paul Heyman ejected from the match was fantastic, as the result. Always nice when a match doesn't have to end a certain way just because the winner is a heel.

There was a Diva's Match. It was okay, not terrible.

Worst match of the night goes to Ryback and Chris Jericho. Terrible match, and a worse ending.
A QUICK ROLLUP!!!! YOU HAVE THE 291 LB RYBACK AND YOU DECIDE THE BEST WAY FOR A CLEAN WIN IS A FREAKIN ROLLUP!!!! utter garbage.

Dolph Ziggler and Alberto Del Rio put on a great technical match with and ending that did it's job of angering me, continuing the feud, and breaking up Team Rocket. I wanted nothing more out of the night than the chance to see Ziggler win back the WHC cleanly (well, maybe for Daniel Bryan to win the Briefcase). If the goal was to get me hungry to buy Summer Slam, well...it's probably going to happen.

Cena was, amazingly enough, able to hit the AA on paid tv Mark Henry. Don't get me wrong, I like John Cena, I get it he's strong. He's also capable of wrestling good matches. Maybe we can put him against someone who can also move around in the ring? Maybe a big star who, along with the audience, just itching for a heel turn. It will probably never happen ... oh. Okay then.

The (sigh) All-Star Money in the Bank Ladder Match (stupid name) was a good match. Fun to see RVD in this PG WWE throwing himself onto ladders every time he took a fall. It was like a blast from the past. Everybody was good in the match, and while it's not the result I would have liked to see, it should bring some change to the landscape which is a good thing.

So SummerSlam was excellent. I usually just order MITB because SummerSlam normally just seems like yet another PPV, but this year I'm glad they selected Daniel Bryan/Cena as a main event because it got me to order what just might be my favorite PPV I've seen this year. They finally managed to get the "Biggest PPV of the Summer!" feel down, as it actually felt like the number 2 show they want it to be.

  • Pre-show match was pretty good, although I'm finding that I'm not enjoying RVD as much as I used to. I particularly liked Shawn Michaels' comment after the finish that the problem with having Big men (Show and Mark Henry) as your backup at ringside is that they can't necessarily move across to the other side of the ring fast enough to help you, especially when your opponent has much smaller guys like Seth Rollins and Roman Reins.
  • Ring of Fire match was ok. Pretty much an inferno match without anyone being lit on fire. I love that it was a no DQ match because the ring is surrounded by fire. Fire designed to keep the other members of the Wyatt Family from interfering. Success! ...crap.
  • Damian Sandow vs Cody Rhodes was great. Solid back and forth, not much else to say it was a solid good match.
  • Alberto Del Rio vs Christian. Too guys who are great in the ring, but can't make me bother to care about either of them outside the ring. It was technically a good match, but I still can't watch Christian without wishing I could watch Edge instead, and Del Rio is at his best when he has a loud, chatty, charismatic opponent who can contrast how dull he is.
  • Natalya vs Brie Bella. This happened. Yay for having more diva matches, particularly ones that don't revolve around the title, but this was just a really awkward promotion for Total Diva's (which WWE does a really terrible job trying to cross-promote, but that's another post/thread). Natalya's music is just a big tease too.
  • CM Punk vs BrOCK lesNAR (Paul Heyman's Emphasis) in a no DQ match. If you still needed a compelling reason to watch SummerSlam 2013 and Daniel Bryan in the main event for the WWE title wasn't it (what's wrong with you?!) this was it. Match of the Night. By far the best Brock Lesnar match since he returned last year. CM Punk was as amazing as ever. Paul Heyman at ringside. No Curtis Axel. Brock Lesnar was exactly the beast you want to see him be, Punk (and everyone involved really) took advantage of the no DQ stipulation to do more than just hit someone with a chair or break a table.
  • AJ and Big E. Langston vs Dolph Ziggler and Katelyn happened. I should have liked this more than I did, but really it was your bathroom break match between Main Events (glad they learned their lesson from Wresltemania about this).
  • Daniel Bryan vs John Cena with special guest referee Triple H. Amazing match. Match of the Night. Both Cena and Bryan were in top form and brought their A game. Triple HHH was impartial and just melted into the background like a referee should. Wonderful back and forth match, with a finish that reminds me why I watch wrestling. Let me repeat that. The end of this match is everything I love and the reason I watch professional wrestling. That said...
  • The end of this pay-per-view is garbage. It makes me angry and I don't even want to talk about it. IF I was being rational I might say that it was sucessfull in that it made me hate HATE Randy Orton, and will have me tuning in to Raw to see the what happens next, but I'm NOT being rational and I hate Randy Orton in in stupid orange face. I HATE the finish with the heat of a million exploding suns.

#165

Frank

Frank

CM Punk and Lesnar made it clear how fucking insane it was to have a year of HHH Lesnar before it.

I can see why they did what they did with Daniel Bryan and Randy Orton. With Cena out now you have a top babyface who has a top heel to chase.

#166

HCGLNS

HCGLNS

We'll see how tonight plays out. HHH is now definately a heel, the fans may make Orton stay a heel or just go, well that's Randy for ya.

One thing I do not want is Evolution 2.0 to come out of this. We have enough heel factions as it is without diluting it even more.

#167

Frank

Frank

Yeah, the last thing they need is HHH heatsucking the entire thing and trying to make it all about himself.

#168

HCGLNS

The wishful thinking of 2.0 is currently

Orton as the new HHH
Ryback as the new Batista

Would love to see Bryan put a new DX together just to piss off HHH. They can't keep it as Bryan vs. Orton, HHH, Shield, and the McMahons. NXT is weekly wrestling bliss. Last week featured a setup for the big 200th episode with Antonio Cesaro and William Regal developing beef with each other, further development of the ongoing women's division storyline, Tyler Breeze, and had a great number one contender's match between two faces, Sami Zhayn and Adrian Neville, after a tie in the previous week's beat the clock challenge. Oh and Renee Young and William Regal on commentary.

Seriously the women's division in NXT really highlights just how bad the main roster's divas division is in both wrestling and storylines. Hell it's storyline is better than most of the storylines going on in Raw and SmackDown period. Just last week we got Emma and Paige's rivalry over the women's championship reaching even higher levels. Which is all part of Summer Rae's plan to take over the division, a nefarious plot which only Bayley is managing to recognize after her friend Charlotte turned on her during a Tag Team match to join the BFFs (Bold Fierce Females, Summer Rae and Sasha Banks). Now Bayley's got a tag match coming up this week against Summer and Sasha, except her potential tag partners (Paige and Emma) are now to busy fighting with each other to pay attention to anything else. :aaah: Oh and this whole thing has been building on itself since this past May, when the Women's Championship Tournament to determine the inaugural champion was started.

Meanwhile on Raw, the Diva's who don't star on Total Divas, including Diva's Champion AJ Lee, are jealous of the ones that do. Because they're prettier or something? I don't know, and I'm pretty sure the writers don't either.

If you're a fan of wrestling at all, you NEED to see this week's NXT. The first half hour is basically a clip show, but the second half of the show?

Antonio Caesaro vs. William Regal. 30 minutes. Super technical match. It's as fantastic as it sounds.

It's common knowledge that creative genuinely doesn't want DB to be a main draw. Triple H was legitimately pissed when the Washington crowd drowned him out during that stupid Ascension Ceremony a few weeks back.

Granted, this storyline could have a terrific payoff when the Wyatts go after the Authority. Kane as a plant would give relevance to his feud with the Wyatts that suddenly dropped for no reason.

How great was it to see Jake the Snake? And my god, the man looks incredibly healthy and happy. I've been watching his progress through the past year to clean himself up and get healthy and you can see it. He looks like a million bucks.

WWE Network to launch late February. Essentially, it's a Netflix-like program for $9.99 that will not only include access to their huge library, but will ALSO include all 12 annual PPVs within that $9.99 cost.

Cue "SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!" memes.

Though admittedly, it'll only be available in the U.S. for now, Canada and worldwide by late 2014 or early 2015.

I'm still sold.

Ten bucks a month for the PPVs on iOS rather than $50+ through television PPV? Nice. Access to all past PPVs anytime? Good. Access to all archival footage? Good.

This would do well, I think, if their servers are strong.

If you have a 360, ps3/4, or roku you'll also be able to watch it on your TV. The first live PPV available will be WrestleMania XXX so they're definitely going to have incentive to make sure their infrastructure is up to the task.

WWE PPVs have been available for purchase digitally before, I've never ordered one direct like that so I can't say how well it worked.

I wonder how much of that has to do with existing international agreements, versus infrastructure concerns. I know that Superstars (and NXT?) air on television overseas, they might need to get those out of contracts before they roll out internationally.

Women's wrestler Mae Young was taken off life support today and expected to pass on any time. It's strange, because reports of her death have gone back and forth, so even at almost 100, that old bird is still surprising us. Heh, probably threatening to show Death her puppies if he comes to get her.

(Ordinarily, I'm not one for tasteless jokes, but Young is/was apparently not only a tough broad, but REALLY dirty minded. This is stories from wrestlers backstage and the business is really filthy behind the scenes, so this is coming from THAT source.)

I can't think of a reason why I wouldn't want to get it. I usually order 4 PPVs a year (Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, Money in the Bank, misc show they manage to sell me on) so it's worth it there. I pay for Hulu+ almost exclusively for NXT, that's moving to the Network so more value for me. The only aggravation is that it's not available until Feb 24th.

I just...I mean, I watched this live with a group of friends and we were just all so shocked. We've seen crowds turn on wrestlers and we've certainly seen crowds turn on matches. But never in my 30 years of watching have I ever seen a crowd completely turn and shit on the entire product. I mean, they booed and chanted against not only the world title match but also the Rumble win. Sure, they've been mad about a heel winning, but not completely booing someone out of the building like this and turning on the whole product.

I really, REALLY hope WWE sees the light here and will do some serious re-modelling with their plans or the next two months will only get worse. Can you imagine what the crowd might be like if they go through with the rumoured Batista/Orton main event?

I don't think Batista was meant to be a heel though. He certainly wasn't when he entered. I think that's what amazed me most, the crowd was fine with him entering, they just rather he not win the Rumble. The crowd was great. I don't think I ever heard Ray Mysterio get boo'd before.

#238

  • Bray Wyatt and Daniel Bryan had match of the night. I joked with my friends that I feel bad for everyone who had to try and follow it. Little did I realize...
  • Paul Heyman was the only thing that kept me even slightly interested in Lesnar beating Show mercilessly with chairs.
  • Love the crowd, some great chants throughout the night including "We want Divas" during the championship match.
  • Good job by Randy Orton for taking the fan's extremely vocal disinterest as a prime opportunity to engage them.
  • The Rumble was great right up until Rey Mysterio came out at number 30. It recovered well enough right up until the ending.
  • If they were not going to put Bryan in the Rumble they should have shuffled the order and had a heel come out last. There was only one person on the roster who wasn't going to get boo'd mercilessly, take advantage of that.

#239

Frank

They should have had Bad News Barrett really cement himself with a number 30 entry.

He was completely gassed at the end of a 5-minute, throwaway TV match. He's going to die trying to wrestle a 20-minute main event. It's not only terrible at this point, it's sad and pathetic that they think this'll work.

Thing is, I don't think it's even X-Pac heat. X-Pac heat was at least still booing him for being an asshole. They didn't hijack his matches because they didn't want him around. They just hated him. Here, they're actively booing Batistia because they don't WANT him around. And why would they? He's given us no reason to cheer him or give him a chance. I watched Arrival last night, myself. I don't have the Network since I don't want to do all the ridiculous work-arounds in order to get it.

But it absolutely blows my mind how good NXT is compared to the "big league" shows. The fans are actually invested in the characters and not trying to hijack the show. The right people are getting pushed for all the right reasons. There isn't an inch of time wasted on stupid backstage skits. In fact, there were even short promos between matches to hype each wrestler for upcoming matches on the show. On regular episodes of NXT, they'll have some amazing backstage promos to hype upcoming matches. For example, when Regal wrestled Cesaro a few weeks ago, he cut one of the BEST promos I've seen in a long time.

I cna't for the life of me understand how this show can be one of the best, consistent wrestling products in years while RAW is the drizzling shits.

The divas in the WWE should be ashamed of the bullshit performances they produce after seeing Emma and Paige put on what they did there. It sucks that they're booking Emma like she's straight up Sean Penn in I am Sam special on Raw too.

His finisher, the Styles Clash, just broke Lionheart's neck in two places, (he has movement in his arms and legs) almost broke Roderick Strong's neck, and botched a move which nearly dropped Jay Lethal right on his head. Nobody's going to want to even work with the guy at this point.

Not to mention that he's in his 40s and would have to pretty much start from scratch with a new name in NXT and such. Neither party has the patience for that, I think. And apparently Styles himself has absolutely no interest in signing up with them.

In other news, there's a strong rumour going around that CM Punk is 99% confirmed for RAW tomorrow night and will very likely be put into the main event along with Orton and Batista. I'll believe it when I see it, but it's amazing that his walk out wound up giving him what he wanted.

#284

I'm not surprised. The fans haven't been into the returning stars too much; the WWE is deathly afraid that the WM main event will get mercilessly jeered throughout the entire thing. They need Punk there, and it's basically the only way to save that match now that Bryan is booked.

They've done very little to build up any younger guys, banishing them to the mid card in favor of aging vets that won't last forever. Kofi should be a headliner. Ziggler absolutely should be a headliner, but because of a few comments, he's been buried deeper than shit, and is likely to be let go when his contract is up. That guy was the second coming of Chris Jericho, and they fucked it up terribly. Cesaro needs to be pushed. Instead we get the same retreads, or extremely bad calls like frigging Ryback, who has fewer moves than an NES fighting game. Even Daniel Bryan isn't getting the big push because his popularity happened on its own, and not by Creative's design; that has legitimately pissed off HHH. They've mismanaged an entire generation of talent, and the poor decisions of an entire decade will come back to haunt them. It's already starting.

#285

ThatNickGuy

ThatNickGuy

Worse, they've been continuing to stay the course and ignore what the fans have wanted for years. It's to the point now that even general audience - not just the smarks - have rebelled against the product. That's a BAD sign and WWE has no clue what to do with it. Personally, one step in the right direction would be going totally cold turkey on authority figure characters and storylines. It's been going nearly non-stop as the main storyline since the Attitude Era. They also need to start showcasing titles other than the world title like they used to. The IC title is a joke now, the tag team division is nearly non-existent, and the woman's title is relegated to models who can't wrestle.

What's extraordinary is while the majority of the stuff going on has been crap, they CLEARLY still know how to push guys properly when they feel motivated. They've made Roman Reigns look like a trillion bucks and is starting to get some really strong reactions from the crowd. Hell, I'd argue that all six of The Shield and Wyatts have the potential to be future main eventers if given the chance. I REALLY want Dean Ambrose to get a harder push. I see him as the next Piper.

That match that Bray and Reigns had one on one showed that they still need to protect the shit out of Reigns and how limited he is without a tag team to hide his weaknesses as a singles guy.

Kofi Kingston doesn't deserve a main event spot. He's even less dynamic a wrestler than John Cena (who strangely is probably hampered in ring more by his top guy status than ability). Dolph Ziggler's head injuries are what really killed his last push. Cesaro was in the main event of the last ppv, got a good amount of time in the Royal Rumble. He's being pushed, just not like a rocket. He was great during his US title run in 2012, but the audience didn't seem to give a shit about him until he Giant Swing'd Santino until he got a reaction. Since debuting he's been booked strong, won a secondary title, put on fantastic matches, and no one in the crowd gave a shit until he started swinging people by the ankles. All the blame there goes to the audience.

As much as I love Daniel Bryan and wanted to see him in the Main Event of WrestleMania, he's still main eventing every week, headlined a string of PPVs this fall, and at least twice since SummerSlam has gotten the entire last hour of Raw devoted to him. If that's not a big push I don't know what is.

This image seems to be making its rounds on the 'net. Seems to be a list of objectives by tonight's Chicago crowd.

Personally, I would LOVE to see everyone turn their back on Batista/Orton/HHH/Steph segments.

They went from a rushed, shitty exact replay of the week previous with Cesaro and Big E and then followed it up with that incredible Wyatt/Shield match? How the fuck can those two segments have been okayed by the same people?

Well, now it really looks like Punk is gone for good. All the hype, no Punk appearance, trolling the Chicago crowd about Punk. (They knew about the hijacking plan.) That's a hell of a dick move on their part. And, once again, showing they have nothing in the tank, Raw ends with Bryan on his back...again. Can we get a Raw that doesn't end that way? Seriously?

We all know what's going to happen now. The crowd at Wrestlemania is going to raise an absolute shitsorm. I thought it would just be limited to the main event, but not anymore. They're going to drown out everything with chants and turn the whole thing into a disaster. I can't blame them.

#293

ThatNickGuy

Shitty ending aside and a couple of eh segments, that was honestly one of the better RAWs I've watched in awhile. It's amazing how they took what could've been a disaster show and wound up having the audience eating out of the palm of their hands. Heyman starting the show like he did and seamlessly tying into the current storyline with the Undertaker was absolutely brilliant.

I think Bryan winning the belts is the only way they don't get blasted for WM. They gotta realize Bautista can barely go five minutes in a match anymore. He could work as a team guy, but a singles champ? He just doesn't have the stamina.

I let my free trial lapse. After all the issues with NXT Arrival I want to wait and see how they do with Wrestlemania before I plunk down for 6 months. Also, they're apparently negotiating new TV contracts soon and I'm hoping for better Raw and Smackdown representation on the network.

I'm going to a house show tomorrow! :minionhappy:

Raleigh is one of the stops of what they are billing as the Road to WrestleMania tour. Local ads have Cena and the Rhodes brothers vs the Wyatts, and Daniel Bryan vs Corporate Kane on the card. I'm hoping for something close to that. The last house show had a completely different card from what they were advertising (no complaint, got to see Ziggler/Cena in a cage). I know, I know, card subject to change. My greatest fear is that we'll get something like Cena/Orton, or Batista/anything.

Summer Rae is billed from Raleigh. I hope that means we'll get to see her wrestle.

Lucky bastard. I haven't been to a live show in a long time. They don't go through the Maritimes very often. Though I did manage to see a live RAW and Smackdown while I was living in Toronto. It was the RAW where Cena and Trish main evented against Santino and Beth Phoenix. And the Smackdown where Jeff Hardy had just become the world champ, taking on Big Show.

Man, so back in 93, when Jerry the King Lawler was heeling it up in the WWF, at the same time, Vince was sending his guys down to Jerry's Memphis promotion where he played face and they were all heels.

Long, long before the Mr. McMahon character would be born in the Austin Attitude Era stuff, you have heel Vince playing it up for the Memphis crowd.

And Vince wearing Jerry's belt.

And other bizarro land shit like Bret Hart high fiving Giant Gonzalez while heeling it up on Lawler.

It's too bad the tape rights are so mangled and that all this lost shit will likely never land on the network where it would be amazing to take a trip down into some mostly lost wrestling history.

House show report.
IMG_20140328_191407.jpg

Byron Saxton was our MC/Ring announcer. Referees were Charles Robinson (li'l Naitch) and Rod Zapata. Before the show started we were invited to tweet and text pictures and things to display on video board. As well as vote on how the Bella Twins and Eva Marie :)fu:) vs Aksana, Alicia Fox, and Laylah would be played out. Our options were a 6-woman tag match or a dance off.

Before the wrestling we're treated to some pre-recorded promos from Damian Sandow and Jack Swagger. Damian was telling us to be polite and stand up and clap for him. Swagger was talking on the phone with Zeb who wasn't showing up at "this town" because Zeb doesn't like "this town" at which points Swagger notices the camera, hangs up, and reminds us all to cheer and to stand up straight and tall. Put our hands over our hearts, and say in a loud clear voice, "WE THE PEOPLE"

First match was a triple threat match for the Intercontinental Championship. Big E Langston vs Kofi Kinston vs the Miz. It was fun watching Big E truck people. Sadly I couldn't get a five chant going. It was a title match at a house show. I'll let you figure out who won.
Rating: :):)

Next up the 6-Diva tag match. Eva Marie is the absolute worst person I've ever seen in the ring, and I watch Botchamania regularly. No believable offense, inability to sell anything, and a botch on the one thing she attempted more complicated than a sholder tackle. The pop the Total Divas got made me sad for humanity. I made sure to boo as loud as I could. Total Divas picked up the win against Aksana the Terminator and her teammates. I forget who got the pinfall. Who cares.
Rating: :fu::fu::fu::fu::fu:

Real Americans in the building! Antonio Cesaro, Jack Swagger, and Zeb Colter come down to the ring, and Zeb picks up a microphone. Not going to lie, these guys are great, and Zeb was possibly the best part of the show. He mentioned how glad he was to be in South Carolina (boo). When corrected by Swagger he says who cares, the Carolinas are the same anyway (BOO). Zeb wonders why the crowd is so irritated as to be booing him, then assumes it's because none of our basketball teams are still in the tournament. Quick aside, this is evidence that Dutch Mantell has worked around the south for decades. If he had named a specific school 2/3 of the crowd would have been cheering him. College Basketball is serious business in this state. One corny joke later and Zeb Colter threatens to send Jack Swagger into the crowd to slap "each and every one of you" across the face if we boo him one more time, then decides other wise because he'd rather have Jack in the ring to slap their opponent instead.
Rating: :trolol::trolol::trolol:

Their opponents are R-Truth and fake geek girl Xavier Woods. I hate both of them It was fun watching the Real Americans beat them. 8 complete rotation on the Giant Swing (and I counted correctly).
Rating: :sohappy::sohappy::sohappy:

Daniel Bryan vs Kane was our main event before the intermission. Bryan went after Kane to fast for me to try and get a Hug it out or Hell No chant going. Decent match, about what you'd expect. Ended in DQ when Ryback came out (in his only appearance) and started attacking Daniel Bryan. Bryan fights back and just when he starts losing...

SIERRA HOTEL INDIA ECHO LIMA DELTA!
Rating: :aaah::aaah::aaah::aaah::aaah:

The Shield run out from the side of the stage to rescue Bryan. We get to see a Superman Punch (looks awesome) a spear, and dives outside the ring by Rollins and Ambrose. Face Shield is truly something great.

Rating: :banana::banana::banana::banana:

And that brings us to the intermission, where I will also be taking an intermission to get some actual work done.

I'm watching the Hall of Fame thing on the Network right now. Jerry Lawler is proof that the ban on shit like blading and such is the best move the WWE ever made. Hopefully making hamburger heads like his and guys like a New Jack a thing of the horrible past. Also, Jerry Lawler sucks. Way to introduce DDP as DDT, you fucking plastic surgeried mong.

Lita's speech was great. Michael Hayes in the video packages is continually embarrassing in that wahjah way. Jake's speech was incredible. Mean Gene Okerland is about 200 years old, has the tiniest amount of old age wavering in his voice now, but he still has the best announcing voice there is. Mr. T's was a rambling mess of a speech. Undertaker not breaking character for the Paul Bearer induction was kind of lame, but zombie Undertaker after so long is also pretty lame. Kane's speech on Paul Bearer's behalf was pretty rad though. Paul Bearer's sons though, genetics man. GENETICS. Scott Hall only got like 2 minutes for his speech, thanks Mr. T. Your 300 year speech was definitely necessary. Carlos Colon's bit was great, even though I am basically unaware of his work. Carlito was funny there too. I like Warrior's speech and him being honest about how stuff like the Rise and Fall of the Ultimate Warrior DVD made him feel was great.

Overall I'm only bummed out about the random little person comedy stuff they decided to cram in for no reason. Such carny nonsense. Oh, and Scott Hall's bumped time for his speech and Jerry Lawler.

Watching Mania right now. The only blemish on the show thus far has been the Shield only getting like 26 seconds. No one even got a proper entrance in that match. Real fucking waste. Everything else has been top notch. Even the cluster fuck battle royal had some fantastic spots in it.

Also, the Network has been flawless. They really got their shit together for this show. Good job.

Oh, one other complaint now while watching Cena/Wyatt. JBL, Cole and Lawler all need to be fired. They are each and every one fucking awful.

SPOT OF THE SHOW: The Spanish announcer guy, who used to be Del Rio's manager/announcer and who's name I cannot remember off hand pointing Bray at the new French announce table. I larfed. Loudly.

That would be the most unprofessional thing he has ever done and completely against his nature.

That was a pretty fuckin' good Wrestlemania overall. Brock/Taker was a stinker, but was probably all that Taker was capable of at this point and the Shield and Wyatt got shafted (at least Bray and Cena put on an awesome show before) but it was definitely the best show in quite a few years.

I'll say this right now about the streak ending, if Brock is booked as the rampaging monster from now on and becomes the absolute monster heel he should have been booked as since coming back from UFC, then the streak ending there is worth it. If not, then there was no point to that.

Also, apparently Taker was hurt really badly early on, which explains the rest of the match. Still taking a bunch of F5s after being nigh crippled is madness. Dude definitely was a wrestler, through and through.

Consider this, on Sunday morning everyone "knew" that the streak was safe and that the YES movement would win. It was startling predictable. No point in watching really.

Streak ends. Now the most secure thing in the history of the WWE is gone, nothing is sure anymore.

Now there is total suspense for the main event. If the streak can end, certainly DB can lose.

2. Gave a massive boost to Daniel Bryan.
3. Set the WWE programming free.

Glad you enjoyed it. If you want to check out other things while you have the Network I can't recommend NXT enough (seriously look at half my previous posts in this thread). It's their developmental show, and the best weekly wrestling show out there.

WrestleMania XXX has been the best mania since I got back into it. That's not saying much (27-29 were awful except for a few bright spots), but I'm happy for it.

I loved the Shield match, as short as it was. It gave me pretty much what I wanted to see, and the Shield got to look like the quick, strong, dominate team that they are. Bray/Cena would have been better if there was longer build up. Good in ring storytelling I thought, but it felt compressed. Maybe if Cena's ruthless aggression side had been showing up before WrestleMania it would have worked better. The ending would have been more impactful for sure. I hope they're not done with this, because there's more potential to the story.

Cesaro was awesome, both in the pre-show tag match and the Battle Royal. Seeing his split from Zeb Colter and Jack Swagger made his winning later even better. I just worry for the Tag division. They were starting to get some good momentum and depth in the roster, and this year they've split up their two best heel teams.

Bryan winning great. words hard, joy so much.

I'm not entirely convinced that Taker losing was planned by anyone. It seemed to catch everyone of guard. No build up, no commentary really, and no replay. Even Brock Lesnar's herald was surprised.

If you re-listen to his speech on RAW, it's a little haunting, now.

There's a theory going around that he was terminally sick and buried the hatched for one to mend old bridges and to give his family a little bit of financial stability once he's gone. And then did himself in rather than wait and suffer through it.

I'm sure they will once sales of the new WWE title slow down. Considering how recent it is, I'm still kind of surprised they unified the titles. Out of curiosity because I wasn't watching at the time, how long did it take to get the unified title the last time they merged belts?

Jericho carried around both titles until Triple H won it from him and got a single belt.

What are some good WWE PPVs or matches from the last.... I dunno, 6-8 years? I think the last match I saw before Wrestlemania 30 that I remember distinctly was Randy Orton vs Mick Foley when they did the spear on burning table spot.[DOUBLEPOST=1397159583,1397159543][/DOUBLEPOST]

SummerSlam 2013. The start of the current Daniel Bryan storyline. The main event is a straight match between Daniel Bryan and John Cena. It's a great match and a reminder of just how good John Cena is when he's on top of his game and not phoning it in.[DOUBLEPOST=1397162057,1397161491][/DOUBLEPOST]Extreme Rules 2012. The cards pretty iffy, but this is the PPV right after WrestleMania 28, where Daniel Bryan lost his World Heavyweight Championship to Shemus in 18 seconds. Their rematch is a 2 out of 3 falls match that almost makes up for the joke loss at mania. Also a great example of how great a wrestler Shemus can be.

Money in the Bank. I don't think I've ever seen a bad card on this PPV, but I've never really watched them after the fact. If you're not familiar with it, the Money in the Bank Ladder match is like a normal match, but with 6-8 participants, and instead of hanging a belt from the rafters they hang a briefcase. Inside the briefcase is a contract, good for one championship match at any time in the next year. Any. Time.

Twice, I believe. Once, he had a short run when he was a heel (and doing the Yes thing that pissed before off before it took off) and then I think he had it for like a hiccup last year. It's really extraordinary to see how over he slowly became. It kind of exploded two years ago when he lost the world title to Sheamus in 18 seconds. SO many angry fans became very vocal for him. That's where the whole show-hijacking thing started to grow.[DOUBLEPOST=1397163889,1397163798][/DOUBLEPOST]Also, you should totally check out some NXT shows because it's been consistently the best show in the past year or so. Three matches to look out for: Cesaro vs Sami Zayne (twice; the two have crazy good chemistry) and Cesaro vs. William Regal, which was my personal favourite match from last year.

#378

Covar

Worth noting that both were when there were two titles, and his World Heavyweight Champion heel run was when the belt was serving the same role as the Intercontinental Title. His second time as a champion lasted less than 10 minutes (no exaggeration).[DOUBLEPOST=1397166108,1397165826][/DOUBLEPOST]
What is NXT? Is it like Tough Enough?
It's more like MiLB. It's their developmental system, where they basically train new wrestlers, and teach those from the indies how to wrestle in the WWE style. They put on a 1 hour weekly show with the best talent in the developmental system and it's magnificent. They're not afraid to experiment with gimmicks, strong women's wrestling, the crowd is always crazy and energetic, and the announcers put over the talent. Check out NXT Arrival. It's their 2 hour special that they did the first week of the WWE Network. It's pretty much everything great about the show, and serves to introduce it people who hadn't been watching it on Hulu Plus.

#379

Frank

Frank

What is NXT? Is it like Tough Enough?
It's basically WWE minor leagues.

#380

ThatNickGuy

ThatNickGuy

What is NXT? Is it like Tough Enough?
Sort of. It's basically their developmental territory. They used to have one in Florida, but it was only aired on local channels (and I think on WWE.com). Not even close to advertised as this. They moved into a giant training facility at a Florida university, now, and it's got a bigger production team. Triple H runs the show primarily, basically doing what Vince does for WWE as far as having the final say on storylines and promos.

It's where they have all the up and coming guys, testing out characters before moving them up to the big time. But the production value is great for a smaller setting, the crowd is always into the show, and the storylines just seem more focused.

I hope that Daniel Bryan isn't hobbled with a Kane midcard feud. That's some Chris Benoit shit right there.

Also, I'm glad that Cesaro dropped the Real Americans theme, but...you know, they probably should have given him something other than silence. And, I love Paul Heyman. He's...like, the best. But what is he doing with Cesaro? That pair-up makes no sense other than to keep Heyman on TV while Brock is gone for a while.

So Mick Foley's Hardcore Legend show is a lot of fun. If he comes by your area I highly recommend going to see him. Matt Hardy and Shane Helms were in attendance, and so Mick Foley brought them on stage with him towards the end, when he did a Q&A. Best of all aside from getting my picture with Mick, was finally getting a Cactus Jack shirt.

Also can we talk about how great it is that we're having a tournament to determine the new #1 contender for the Intercontinental Championship? Wrestling Tournaments are probably my second favorite angle in wrestling ( 1. Royal Rumble, 2. Tournaments, 3. Kurt), and I'm glad that they're using one to put focus back on the Intercontinental Title. That strap has been neglected more than the US Championship, and only then because Ambrose just wears it and never competes with it. Since I'll probably never see King of the Ring again, at least we've got this.

Also people insisting he needs to turn heel are being to narrow minded (and wanting to validate their own feelings on Cena). He's already a heel to everyone that want's to see him "turn heel" so I'm not sure what him suddenly cheating would do other than disappoint a lot of kids who buy his stuff.

Really he just needs to adjust the character to become more dynamic, or maybe in line with reality. He's pretty much Superman, so maybe stop running the overcome the impossible odds story line again and again. Have him be more cocky. He's been neigh unstoppable for years, older fans don't buy that he's going to lose so why should he buy it?

Also anyone here Chikara fans? I just ordered the iPPV they're having on May 25th and was wondering if anyone else was going to watch it. If you're not familiar with Chikara they're a Lucha style promotion that's basically a living wrestling comic book. Last year they had a storyline where the company was bought out by a corporation and promptly shut down (the company went dark last June). Earlier this year it was uncovered that it was a ploy by all their villains to destroy the promotion. So now Chikara is fighting back.

Honestly, this was a long time coming. WWE used to do roster spring cleanings every year around this time (not long after a WrestleMania).

On the surface, it sucks for the guys that get released but most see solid success on the indies. They're a big name after working the big time, even the lowly job guys.

The old Wyatt NXT theme was a thing of beauty not made better by the addition of lyrics.

This may have been the best and most fitting wrestler theme going.

Also, I like Cody Rhode's Stardust theme. As fucking silly as the gimmick is, Cody Rhodes is fucking awesome doing it. That guy can make any shitty gimmick (he got a fucking mustache over!) they throw at him work. The only time he falters is playing plain Cody Rhodes. The guy is a fantastic talent.

On the topic of new themes, did no one notice that Ambrose's new theme is basically a remix of Chris Benoit's old theme?

Cesaro's current theme is still hot garbage and doesn't suit him one bit.

Seth Rollin's new theme is alright, but I hate the drop and it sounds WAAAAAAAY too much like the Ascension's theme and they're boring as hell. It's funny how often they have Brock be the giver of the one sided beatdown considering that he's an incredibly seller. He can make anyone's offense look like a million bucks.
He's one of the few who can actually give himself a piledriver.

Rumor has it TNA is not getting it's contract renewed with Spike TV is because Spike is negotiating to buy TNA, going the Turner-WCW route, and grabbing it cheap at a low point with plans to relaunch.

So am I skimming that article right and they want to present the network as a traditional channel? If so that's terrible. On my phone right now and don't want to confirm my skimmed assumption.

It's exactly that. It's basically WWE 24/7 again rather than the Netflix-like video streaming app that the Network is in the states.

Which is fucking ridiculous. I was ready and primed to get the Network the very second it dropped in Canada. Not now. They lost a guaranteed sale from me.

Woah, Alberto Del Rio released for unprofessional conduct and an altercation with staff.

Covar

Covar

Sadly that's the most exciting and interesting story involving Del Rio since he joined the WWE.

FINALLY. That dead weight needed to be gone a long time ago.

I get the feeling they were on the verge of releasing him, anyway, and this gave them a good reason.

Damn, that's out of nowhere.

Also, is it just me, or does SummerSlam look kind of crappy now, after looking amazing a few weeks ago? I just hate Flag and Lumberjack matches. I know they're old school and there have been classic ones, but they suck nowadays.

Also, is Sheamus dead?

#473

Del Rio was perfectly fine when he had Rodriguez to be his charisma.

Out with an injury, I think.

Out with an injury, I think.
He's in the running with Christian and Rey Mysterio to see who can rack up the most injuries in the shortest time.

He's also in the running to be Darth fucking Vader in Episode 7. I know it won't be his voice, but still...

"Luke, I am your fa-ter, fella."

Vader picking up the Brogue Kick might kick ass.

Apparently that was one of his jobs from before the WWE.

Hey guys, the WWE Network is totally available right now for 9.99! 9.99!

It's totally 9.99. It's only 9.99!

Guys, John Cena is the WWE, the Network is only 9.99, Champion!!!

Even if he doesn't win the title, Brock has definitely won the undisputed sweatiest man that ever lived title.

Ambrose and Rollins are both great and managed to make one of the shittiest match types work. Ambrose's "I still love you brother!" to Rollins during the curbstomp, his pre-emptive swinging at the lumberjacks when he was thrown out of the ring and constant suicide dives just sells his character to a degree that most of those guys should take notes from.

The commentary team is still, just...dreadful. MAGGLE, the network is 9.99 MAGGLE.

At least they are aware of how annoying the shilling is and are having fun with it.

So the main event went for about 15 minutes to long. Just boring. Best thing I have to say about it is that at least it didn't end like the match at Extreme Rules 2012.

I will die before I get bored of John Cena getting thrown around like a rag doll

Boring match is boring. No squash match needs more than 5 minutes. Truthfully every match Lesnar has had since coming back have all been boring snoozefests for that exact reason, save for his match last year against CM Punk, where Punk was actually allowed to get meaningful offense in.

He lost his first two back.

Also, if someone were to tell me that Brie Bella and Stephanie McMahon would have a more entertaining match than a big PPV AJ and Paige match, I would have called you a stupid shit from stupid shit town. Hey, look who's the stupid shit now.

Hell, I think it's funny that Randy Orton and Roman Reigns ended up being the piss break match, they had trouble following up Steph and Brie.

Last nights Raw takeaway? Ambrose and Rollins are fucking stars since they managed to not allow Kane to suck the life out of either of their matches.

Boy! HHH was on a roll tonight, declaring he "would do what is best for the WWWE", and asking who was "up for the challenge of Brock Cena".

I miss Vince.
