I'm so excited!!
My dad's family is visiting, to go white-water rafting, but I get to go have dinner with them tonight!
They live in Ohio and I can count on one hand the number of times I've actually been with them in person. So, I'm quite thrilled about tonight, yay!!

We've got two ISPs here, because we need to be guaranteed internet access for a number of reasons. I refer to them as our "good" ISP and our "Crappy" ISP (we started out with just the crappy, and got the good to supplement it when these requirements arose). Last friday, a guy from CrappyISP showed up and asked to be let onto the roof/into the engineering bunker, so I let him in. Bada bing bada boom, our Crappy connection is now better than our "good" connection ever was (it's now 15 up 15 down)... and on top of that, our "good" connection over the last few months has steadily degraded from 8 mbit up/down to 3 down 1 up. Everything is backwards now. But I'm afraid that if I go through all the trouble to switch things around, GoodISP will suddenly come through and fix their shit so they're better again and I'll have to change it all back.
You can have a steady ISP or you can have lights. The budget does not permit both...
I just applied for a job that sounds like an absolute goddamn dream right now to me. It's a job illustrating children's books, and it's an actual legit company offering an actually agreeable salary, and complete artistic freedom in terms of media used and design style.

Also somebody contacted me to ask me for permission to use a drawing of mine in a blog post of theirs, saying that they would be sure to give full credit with my name and a link to my blog, and pointing out that they make no money off of it even.
THIS NEVER HAPPENS. I couldn't believe it. PEOPLE NEVER ASK and rarely give credit for these types of things. So of course I told him he could. I am a bit saddened that it's not even one of my nicer drawings. I'm absolutely flabbergasted anyone would want to use it, but hey whatever.
Frig I hope I get that illustrator job.

huh. I just noticed that when I drew Superman/ ThatNickGuy for the banner, I gave him 5 fingers without even realizing it. I wonder how long I've been doing that now. I never used to draw 5 fingered hands unless I had to, cause 4 is just so much easier and because fuck yeah Looney Tunes. But the show I was working on, characters actually have 5 fingers, and so I was forced to for 4 months.... I guess I picked it up. WEIRD.

I'm guessing that's done using page hits? If so, PVP is like, not even in the top 5 of webcomics visited..

I'm not sure what their criteria are, but pvponline.com is on that map... but while it's bigger than gunnerkrigg and sluggy, it's easily seen to be the smallest of all the "big name" webcomics. Dwarfed by CAD, LICD, sinfest, LFG, and questionable content, and of course not even in the same league as PA, SMBC, or the mighty behemoth that is XKCD. Menage a 3 is slightly smaller.
Yeah I noticed that too. For touting how he's in the top 3 webcomics, there was easily a handful that were "bigger" than PvP on that map. I only assume it's linked with hits or maybe non-unique pageviews or something.
The fact that pvponline doesn't have forums anymore might be part of it too. Most (if not all) of the rest of the big ones do.

Heh, it would be hilarious if he restarted some forums now. I don't think this community would be in any way inclined to relocate there and be subject to the capricious whims of Kurtz again, not after experiencing the liberating joy of halforums... and sure as 10 dimes buys you a dollar, the first 1000 posts on his new forums will be the "this sucks" variety that he hates so very very much.
We would not give up this environs for his, but we will make the first 1000 these suck posts.
