[TV] Talk about the last TV you watched, the catchall thread

I'm watching it on Netflix and it's the cable version.

One of the things I love about it is that it shuns CGI for the most part and instead uses practical effects, which owns. I'm sad that when I hit the end on Netflix, that's all there is.
I've watched the first two episodes so far and it's pretty good. If I weren't working on Supernatural I'd be a lot further along.

Speaking of Supernatural, the Route 666 episode (big angry truck) was pretty bad.

Yeah, the racist truck thing was hilariously bad. But that's the charm of Supernatural: even the bad episodes are AMAZINGLY bad.

Starting my annual Buffy rewatch, this time with friends! One of the guys is the one who introduced me to Firefly but has never seen Buffy, so it should be be good fun, if a little dated.

Man, season 2 is a really heart-crusher.

Wife and I have started watching 30 Rock. I thought it would take longer to find its way, but since episode 3 it's been glorious.

Oh Season 1 of Buffy, you have some of the worst episodes. <3
Eh, I don't know. Given how short it is, the ratio of good to bad is pretty good. You've got the premiere and the finale, the Angel episode, the fantastic hyena episode...erm, the rest I'm blanking on.

I watched it when it first came up on Hulu. I think to me the only thing that dated it in a cringe-worthy fashion was some of the dialogue. Some of the weirdest slang I've ever heard.

I guess it's the she-mantis, robodemon and demon-hunting dummy that come immediately to mind, but yes, I LOVE the hyena episode. :)[DOUBLEPOST=1359344559][/DOUBLEPOST]

And honestly a lot of the slang seems to stop after the first season, or at least it doesn't stand out as much.

I was in the middle of a buffy/angel synched watch-through (that is, watch Buffy until Angel spun off, and then watch each in the order they were broadcast) when my last laptop exploded, and I haven't continued since. I got to like Season 5 or 6 of Buffy, I think.... I think I'd have to watch both from the start now, but I dunno if I'd "sync" 'em again.

Should I? Are they on netflix?

I didn't sync them, just watched Buffy all the way through and then Angel after. I liked both quite a bit, but like Gusto said the first season of Buffy has it's share of ups and downs. Angel is good, though it moves a bit slower than Buffy sometimes.

I enjoyed the Buffy/Angel sync up. The sows often have very different tones so it stops show fatigue, and the way they sometimes cross over is pretty neat.

I would have a hard time doing it again though, because I really can't stand season 4 of Angel, and even if I did, it's so thematically opposite of season 7 of Buffy that it's hard to believe their happening in the same spacetime period.

The crossovers I remember being especially awesome at the beginning of Angel... there was a particular one I'll never forget in which you, without explanation, see Angel call someone, and then hang up without saying anything. Cut to the synced Buffy ep, Buffy gets a random phone call, she says hello? hello?, no one answers, she hangs up.

That gave me chills the first time I saw it, cause they didn't even make it obvious, if you hadn't seen Angel make the call, it would be a really random yet forgettable scene.

Yeah, these little things were something that really engaged me in Angel early on, as I found the first season dragged a bit at first. Without syncing I would say Buffy, then Angel, personally, but the more we talk the more I think I should re-watch synced, just to see how it all plays out.

Top Gear is BACK! The new Pagani is practically pornographic. Jeremy's P45 segment went on a good ten minutes longer than it needed to. :p

I Will Remember You is probably my single favorite episode of Angel that incorporated Buffy, if not of the entire Angel series.

Young Justice

The latest episode was just as good as the series has been. Which makes me sad that it's been recently announced that it, along with Green Lantern (meh), are not being renewed by the Cartoon Network.

I hope, at the very least, that they'll have time to give the show a good, solid ending.

Started watching Archer.

I don't understand how H. Jon Benjamin keeps getting work as a voice actor. He's got all the dulcet tones of taco night with extra onions.

I fucking love H Jon Benjamin's voice, timing and hilarity. You heathen.

Stick with Archer, though, seriously, I think it's bar none the best animated comedy today. In heated competition with Bob's Burgers, who also stars your favorite voice actor.

I like the jokes, I just have never been a fan of HJB even since the days of Dr. Katz.

Young Justice is a poorly designed TV Show. Not in the plotting sense, in the "making a TV Show" sense. Despite Gargoyles, it's as if the creators learned nothing and insist on telling the story they want to tell despite the fact that the show will go through other parties before reaching the audience. YJ is way to serialized for it to hold up to a CN network (or any kids network, same problem would happen on Nick) scheduler. That's the same kind of intelligence that gets you Brian Hitch or Frank Quitely assigned to monthly titles. The first season had a 6 month long gap between episodes with a plot that flows at a pace that assumes you watch an episode a weekday. If you miss an episode for whatever reason (like networks changing date and time), then you're shit out of luck as the story is moving forward without so much as a "previously on..." Which brings us to another issue, NOTHING OF ANY SIGNIFICANCE HAPPENS! You get build up, build up, build up, six month hiatus, more build up (To what again? I forgot in the absence, oh right the injustice league), yet more build up, season 2 and the 5 year new toy jump. Wait what? Oh right remember that big showdown we were building up to? We're skipping ahead 5 years, but don't worry the only thing that happened in five years is melodrama, new characters, new costumes for old characters, and we got rid of the Krypto stand in. Oh the 6 hours of missing memories in 5 of the most prominent Justice Leaguers? Yea nobody apparently bothered doing anything about that until it suddenly comes back up five years later. The showdown with the Injustice LeagueThe Light? People seem to know about them, but it appears they've yet to do anything, but who cares we're building to Darkseid now, and they're going to be small fries compared to our new threat which is totally dangerous but you'll have to take our word for it since you never actually got to see the Light do anything other than talk ominously and anonymously at the end of episodes about how soon they will make the Heroes pay/aware of their existence. Soon being over 5 years away.

So... what, are they dropping the entire DC block or are they going to be turning it over to the new Batman show and the New Teen Titans thing they are doing? I also believe a Blue Beetle show is in the works. I don't think Warner Brothers will let them just drop the block after all the money they've pumped into the network and putting the shows on the CW would basically ensure they never see the light of day.

Also, I thought the Green Lantern show really hit it's stride about halfway in Season 1... and I'm kinda bummed we're probably never going to see a Darkest Night or War of the Rings arc now. I know at least we're going to see Larfleeze and his Orange Lantern this season (as they keep using a teaser image of Hall looking like this, but with Orange Lantern rings)...

... and Guy Gardner is supposed to show up too. Are we going to see Sinestro fall as the finale? He's showed up a few times on the show now as a Green Lantern still.

I'm actually OK with Young Justice ending. I love the show but the forced time skip just fucked the continuity all up (in order to sell more action figures) and I really didn't expect them to keep it going after this season anyway.

Honestly, it seems like CN has no idea what it's doing anymore if it's not dealing with Adventure Time, Gumball, or Regular Show. The live action shows have all bombed... they can't sell merchandise for half of them and the one they can (the stupid video game show) isn't doing well ether. Annoying Orange is bombing and so is the merchandise. Dreamworks Dragons: Riders of Berk is doing well but they are already in re-runs for the year.

I watched Girls s2e3 this morning and it was pretty... okay. Maybe the show's worst episode? Then I notice s2e4 was on demand too, either by accident or just giving up against the Superbowl next Sunday? And I watched that, and it was the show's BEST episode ever. I teared up a bit at the end. It was just really awesome and touching and perfectly written/acted.

Yeah. For sure.

I want to like it, but the way it glosses over shit constantly or just forgets they happened makes me nuts.

Their cancelling Green Lantern? I'll admit I had misgivings of it at first but I admit its an all-right show.

And Young Justice I like, but yeah the plot does move a smidge too fast. Also I fucking hate Lagoon Boy. ENOUGH WITH THE DAMN OCEAN PUNS!

Technically neither show was canceled, they just weren't renewed; and it was pretty much expected given WB's history of two season shows. I imagine that doesn't mean much to fans, but it's a big distinction for those on the production side.

I don't think they even have enough episodes for syndication yet... if they do, it's just barely.

Then again, considering how few episodes they did this year for MLP, Hasbro might be planning the same and just don't want to cause any outcry yet.

I just watched the first episode of "Do No Harm"(somebody had to). I am not looking forward to this show. You've enjoyed one media about someone with an evil personality, you've seenem all.

Edit: Also I saw the series finale of 30 Rock. It was a wonderful ending to the series. I should feel bad for the "Do No Harm" guys for having to follow that, but it was bland as all hell.
