This could have also been ripped right out of a Chinese parent's phone conversation.
True story: Imagine me as a teenager. Imagine how socially awkward a short, fat Taiwanese guy would be in your typical American middle school. Now multiply it by six or so. That's how hopelessly inept I was at the time, in terms of social interactions.

So one day, our school had one of those open days where our parents got to come in and sit in on our classes, so that they could see how exactly we're being taught. And, true story, my dad came in and went up to a female Japanese classmate of mine, who I'd previously never talked to, and asked her if she's interested in getting to know me better.

Yumi, if you're reading this, I'm sorry my dad creeped the hell out of you twenty years ago.

Brazen audacity seems to work as often as anything else
This is absolutely true. Back when I was single and had plenty of game, I would often hang out with groups of women and be the over-the-top horndog around them. There was always one woman in the group who had to maintain the honor of the entire group, loudly proclaiming "eww! I would never sleep with a guy like you!"

Guess which one I almost always went home with? :unibrow:
