Welcome to the first installment of BananaHands' Terrifying and Terrific Tinder Thread!

What is Tinder?
Tinder is a matchmaking mobile app. Using GPS technology, users can set a specific radius, and they will have the option to match with anyone that is within that distance.

What should we expect in this thread?
Everything and everything. Horror stories, success stories, photos of matches, screenshots of conversations gone wrong - you name it, it'll be here!

Why are YOU on Tinder? It's GROSS!
Yes, Tinder has a bad rap about being an appearance-based dating application AND being used mainly for casual sex - but there's also some fantastic stories to be gained and having moved to a new city it's been a great way to meet people! It's also a bit of a social experiment. I've used the app to get a ride to the airport once and haven't looked back yet.

What do you want from US?
EVERYTHING.

Or rather, your own stories and pictures from this app. I'd encourage you to be as respectful as possible - but you'll find that a lot of these people are putting themselves out there to be as ridiculous as possible. However, if you or someone you know ends up posted in this thread, LET ME KNOW. I will remove it as anonymously as possible.

Oh, and you can post anonymously if you're not comfortable with people knowing you're on tinder![DOUBLEPOST=1421367153,1421366794][/DOUBLEPOST]Did someone say, Mr. Toilet Man??

I've always been a bit curious about Tinder, but having that thing installed on my phone seems like a good way to make my wife mad.

FTFY

I always say threads like this make me pray that nothing ever happens to Mr. Z, because I never want to date again. That doesn't make me want to stop looking at the train wreck, though. Bring on the Tinders!

You and me both. I don't know if I could handle net.dating if the wife passed.

Wait, is swipe right a "yes"? I've already screwed that up once.

I was visiting my best friend this summer, and she was using a dating app(not Tinder) and asked for my opinion on her suggested matches. I did not realize until, many listings in, that the way I was swiping meant to accept the invitations, not just scrolling. I apologized profusely, but this is why I can't date again. Literally. I don't know what to do anymore.

When Jake and i are hanging out and drinking and shooting the bull, we joke about how if we ever break up we will be the saddest, most helpless people in the dating pool. Still, I think hed do ok. He puts up shelves when he says he will and makes good spaghetti.

You whippersnappers should have to go to bars and make an ass out of yourself in person like we used to have to do in the old days!

In an overly loud pub near the university, a tall young man stands at the bar waiting for his pints of Shiner.
"Would you and your friend like to come sit with me and my buddy? ", muttered drawn_inward.
The overly attractive coed turns her head in disgust and says shrillingly, "What?!"
"Nnnothing." stammers drawn_inward as he whisks his Shiner back to the dark booth.

Ah, college.

There's no pretense with the gay versions of these apps. 90% of the profiles are shots of chests (they'd be dicks if it weren't against the TOS).

Y'all can post all the chest only shots you want on those apps ;)

Getting women to respond to that, however....
I was referring to the lack of pretense. There's a lot of tiresome rigamarole that's baked into dating by eons of gender roles and sexual politics that seem to not be a factor on grindr, am I right?

Oh, for sure. Men like to have sex. I hate to reinforce stereotypes, but men who have sex with men are going to have an easier time finding sex due to that fact.

I have a feeling you'd be wrong.
This seems like the kind of argument that calls for rigorous scientific study.

But I don't think my current lab partner would be down for that. Sadly, it's the only kind of thing my last one would've been down for there at the end.

To be frank, if I can get play on one of those apps, anyone can :p

Not that I would ever do such a thing. :hide:
