The EPIC WIN Thread 3: SON OF EPIC

No, I was just having tea at a shelter cat room. 5 kitties up for adoption, if your're in the St John's area.

I took many pictures, family very jealous.

This guy woke up as soon as they brought in a box.

@Sparhawk @Celt Z @Dei (and anyone else hoping for a launch in November)

Boeing's test of the Starliner has been pushed back to the middle of December.

Space X's first Starlink launch will be delayed from October 17 to an, as yet, unannounced date. It is still quite possible that there will be one or two Starlink launches in November.

There is an additional Space X launch which is scheduled no earlier than November 11th.

Okay, this is probably where this should go, but that might be a matter of opinion too.

Thursday, 10-24, my mother found out that she has 4 brothers that we didn't know about, and found out who her father was. This is the first that either of us knew anything about any of them. My maternal grandmother was a loon. As in crazy as a loon.

This part is all about my maternal grandmother. She had a child, a boy, with a man, we know nothing other than he exists (or is possibly even dead, he would be between 75-80 years old) and that possibly his father was killed in WW2. She then proceeded to get with another man, my grandfather, and gave birth to 1 girl and 3 boys, that girl is my mother. For some reason, of which we know not, she then proceeded to pack up my mother and moved to Texas, Dallas, where she married another man and had a girl and a boy (that I have known all my life) and life went on. She changed (this was in the 50's) my mothers birth certificate to show a different birthday so that she could put my mom into school earlier than she should have been. So when my mom went looking for her birth certificate years later, she found records for two different birth dates, with two different fathers listed, and neither of those people are anyone else that has been mentioned above. My grandmother was a loon.

So this past Thursday, just two months before her 75th birthday, my mother got a letter in the mail, with copies of old photos that are obviously her, and the story of what had apparently happened, and was able to talk to her younger brother than now lives in Scottsdale, Arizona. They had been attempting to find her for over 50 years, and apparently a DNA test from a couple of years ago was something that give them just enough to find where she was.

I'm still in a bit of shock because I figured that we'd never have an answer to that part of our family.

Holy shit.

But I'm happy for your mom!

Scottsdale... this somehow doesn't surprise me, and I don't know why.

Seriously, congrats. Any ideas on whether or not a Sparhawk family reunion might be in the works? (Do keep in mind Scottsdale has a White Castle now.)

Hang on, one thing confuses me: did you grandmother have your mom, then the 3 boys before she left? Were the boys triplets? I'm kinda surprised she doesn't remember having younger brothers, considering, if they were born separately she would have been 4 or 5 by the time the last one was born, at a minimum.

I am unsure at this time. I haven’t had a chance to go through what she’s gotten so far, but hoping to see it tomorrow.

I moved!

It's not done yet - they gave me the wrong legs for my dining table on delivery and I have to wait for my lamps to get mounted on Nov 15th - but I'm finally out of my cramped room and in an actual apartment. With a crazy kitchen. I'm stoked.
Congrats! It's always nice to live in a new space that's yours.

There were brown tiles, white tiles, and some tiles blue.
Tiles in the kitchen and in the dining room, too.

But there's not just tiles in the room's you'd expect.
The den, the basement, the garage all bedecked.
This house was built by a mad tile architect!
With no one to stop him, his desires unchecked
Like a member of some uncanny tile sect.

The man understood,
the thought was clear,
the amount of tiles was without peer.

The bandit's foul mood,
was now explained,
when under these tiles he strained.

"It must be good,"
the man remarked,
"to have a house with tiles unmarked."

"I never ever would,"
the man did grouse,
"let that tile merchant near my house."

Disclaimer: I never had any Seuss when I was young.

...that can be a good thing, or a bad thing, considering that many DQ's in northern climates close from October to February...
