Minor victory thread

My wife and I are going to be buying a sleep number bed with my bonus check in two weeks. I was looking at prices & stuff and my wife was like, "You know we're not going to be able to afford that, right? You have to buy their BASE as well as the bed itself." Huh? I looked into it and sure enough, bases are almost $1000. So I did some MORE searching...

We have a pretty big bed right now with a box spring and very sturdy raised base. All I have to do is buy a piece of plywood and we're good to go. Fuck you're $1000 base. I want to buy a bed give me the whole fucking price. I'm already shelling out (probably) two grand - the base should come as part of the bed.

That's like saying a monitor should come with a stand! Sheesh, how entitled can you be?! :p

Got it right the first time. After yet another weekend of getting my ass chewed by a guest because someone else missed posting their scheduled weekly payment (an authorization still ran, but that's another rant), I decide fuck it. If it's gonna get done RIGHT, I may as well be the guy to do it instead of leaving it for the day and/or evening shifts. No more being loath to do it just because it happens to be in the middle of the night. Post it, note it, and print a folio. Get everyone's asses covered as well as mine.

So a couple rooms had their week missed? I just posted the week as scheduled and waited for management to come in to advise. I got it right. :)

So now we've got a system in place to avoid the "I got too busy" excuse. But that's another another rant. :p

I’m at the pain clinic to see a new doctor and I didn’t get interrogated by the nurse. It looks like I’m being treated with respect for past good behavior.

Time will tell for sure.

Hell its to the point now, fiveish hours later, if i look thru the clear part of the eye shield, I'm pretty sure i see a lot better with that eye than when It had glasses.

I'm still super dilated atm. and had to tape some paper over the old lense for now because now I have some idea what someone with good vision saw when they look through that lense. That's some Lovecraftian level shit right there.

A new twist on "The Man with X-ray Eyes".

I'd put this under Epic Win, but since it's was dumb luck, it goes here: I just missed being stuck with Li'l Z in the major blackout in Manhattan today.

For those who don't know, Midtown Manhattan had a massive blackout earlier this evening. Not as bad as '77 , or '03 (which I was stuck it, so I served my time!), but still an epic clusterfuck. My friend in Queens had gotten tickets for she and I to take Li'l Z to the Museum of Natural History for his first time today. A few days prior, Mr. Z and I were discussing how I wanted to go into Manhattan. I usually don't mind driving into the outer boroughs, uptown, or downtown, but I hate having to find parking in Midtown or the museum area. Normally I take the bus or the train, both nearby our house. Mr. Z suggests we try the ferry. I've never taken the ferry in my life since it's more expensive than the other options, but the weather is going to be gorgeous and it's faster than any of the other ways, so hey, let's splurge.

Take the ferry, have a great time, take the ferry home. Mr. Z picks us up at the dock and we go out to dinner. As he's checking his phone,we find out about the outage. For those of you who aren't familiar with Manhattan or it's transit, if our day had gone the same and I had used ANY other transportation than the ferry, I would have been stuck in that blackout with a 6-year-old. Port Authority (bus) is midtown. The NJ transit trains were cancelled. The subways were stopped. Even if I drove, I would have left from the Lincoln Tunnel and would have been stuck on those streets.

Damn I should buy a lotto ticket tonight.

Survived the power outage. Management allowed me to use a different room that stayed cooler for the duration. My regular room didn't turn into the EZ-bake oven I feared.

Survived Sims 4 patch day. Only had one mod to update.

Survived the power outage, part 2. The main PC at the front desk didn't want to power up afterwards. I managed to get it going again. The restaurant POS system also didn't want to come up. That one needed support help after my tricks went nowhere. And finally one ghost ticket from the night before also needed support's help to dispatch back into the ether from whence it came. But that's done.

So I sit here now with status quo restored, with just under 5 hours to go before my weekend.

Welp, my son has been trying new meds this week because his other ones were causing severe weight gain. He hasn't had any bad side effects and I think he's actually doing better on these meds. (he's not really good at telling us how he feels, but he's been playing PvP games for the first time in forever without freaking out that his actions might be affecting "other dimensions" so it's good)

Minor Victory because his old meds cost about 10 cents a month and these are going to cost *a lot* more.
