Minor victory thread

Just checked. Taxes were accepted, and I'm good to go.

NEXT year's taxes are the ones I'm having nightmares about...

Had a date planned for tonight with a girl from tinder. We've been talking for almost a week. I was looking forward to it. Turned down other plans because of it.

Literally 45 minutes before she sends me a text how she's too scared to meet someone from online. Unmatches me on tinder. Won't return a text.

Like, come on. We were going to meet in a public restaurant, not like it was just "come over and lets fuck." We've been texting today like literally nothing was wrong. Now I'm doing jack shit when I could've had something going on. Just rude.
Date with a different girl tonight, only this time it really happened. And not only did it happen, but it went well! What a world.

Getting the last pieces out of the house and set up in the new space. I've come up with a system that should help optimize the microscopic amount of space available. I have some large plastic storage bins, and any of the cooking gear that isn't likely to see use within the month goes in the bin. So the food processor and stand mixer are going into storage instead of taking up shelf or counter space. It's already paid dividends as bit by bit the place looks more organized.

Ooo, someone should do a durian bra. It simultaneously says, "Yes they are larger than average thanks for asking" and "you don't have a chance in Hell of touching 'em."
I think the smell alone will keep anyone from wanting to touch them. Or get within 10 ft. of them.

Women and men, so different.

Women have to fight constantly against harassment and having guys want to look at and touch their stuff.

Men, sadly, desperately trying anything they can to make someone want to look at and touch their stuff.

:p

The power went out here at work.

Everything important managed to stay up and running on UPS backups for the 10 seconds it took for the emergency generator to kick in!

(For once.)[DOUBLEPOST=1518203791,1518203249][/DOUBLEPOST]As luck would have it, I was in the middle of laying down a voice track for a commercial I'm cutting when the power went out, along with the lights. Computer stayed on though, so you get to hear what it sounded like.

They actually are selling the steaks out of the back of a truck. Well, an 18 wheeler, and they're vacuum packed and all that, but it's pretty fly-by-night.

But hey, 20 ribeyes for $25.

(Reviews online say they are 1/4" thick, 4 oz steaks, and quality is very, very suspect).

Very minor, but it’s nice to know that I can still negotiate. My daughter destroyed her iPhone and I called up our cell phone company today and explained very nicely that all of our contracts were over and that we could all go on Bring Our Own Devices plans or just walk and asked what they could do to make us want to stay. Buddy gave me a massive discount on a new phone :)

The prices that they advertise online require their most expensive plan, which I don’t have and refuse to get. The prices with my plan are completely out of control.

I have the full 15 volume set of The Sesame Street Library (I think they were published in '78?) and they used to be one of my favorite things to read as a kid. Each one is filled with different stories and artwork and craft ideas and recipes, plus no Elmo! They're still in near-mint condition, so couple of years ago I gave them to Li'l Z. Recently I realized that he's never really touched them and he's more-or-less moved on from Sesame Street, but these books are so good, I couldn't let them go without a fighting chance. So a few weeks ago, I pulled out Volume 1 as our nightly bedtime book, and he didn't seem to keen on it at first. Now it's been three weeks, we're on our second read-through of the entire series, and he can't/won't go to sleep without it. He loves it, and I won't lie, I love rereading the stories and doing the voices and seeing him love all the stuff I loved about the older run of Sesame Street. I had forgotten about characters like Sherlock Hemlock, Little Bird, and Herbert Birdsfoot, and that they'd actually use the word "stupid". I'm hoping these will have a special place in his heart like they did for me, even when he gets "too old" to read them regularly.

Job interview this Friday. They sounded good on the phone, and they mailed me because they found my profile interesting...But I'm not 100% convinced it's my dream job or anything, nor if it'll pay enough to be worth the hassle going over there (it's about an hour's drive by train and bus).
Still, it's nice to get invited and at the very least it'll be interesting as experience.
And it's a job working for a specialized company importing/exporting pets and exotic animals, and part of the job is picking up and delivering the cargo, so I might get to drive around a truck with a tiger in it. Which would be neat :p

I'd make sure you look into them further, I've heard sketchy things about businesses that do those kinds of things, though granted, those were US businesses.

We now have an all-woman improv troupe called Ragtag. We had kind of a test run last year, and now we're really in business, working with ladies from 3 different nearby troupes. We had a slumber party photo shoot today, complete with pillow fights, silky robes, and booze.

So I won this fucking thing this weekend. I'm going to be honest, I don't know exactly what it is. It was labeled as a smoker at the bar but it's just empty on the inside. Don't smokers have like offset boxes or a place to put charcoal? Is it just a charcoal bbq? I've only ever owned propane grills.
