What really died was the SUV. Every mom wanted an SUV because it was less "momish" than a station wagon or minivan. But then everyone complained that a SUV didn't have the creature comforts of a minivan. So they turned all the SUVs into suv-shaped minivans. They lowered them, got rid of the truck gearing and the 4WD, and got rid of the intentionally hard, easy to clean interiors.

Yeah, the actual "jeep" is mostly gone. They're all SUV-crossover-models for soccer moms and people who want to feel safe in a big bad car. Which, you know, doesn't work.

And I'll echo what someone else here said - SUVs definitely aren't always bigger on the inside than a regular car, let alone a station wagon.

Sears sold a ton (well literally more) of those houses. The Heights here in houston had quite a few of them before it got gentrified into an upper class neighborhood. Now they're going, "Oops, we should've preserved those".
Many of those homes ended up in rural East Texas. There was an open lot outside Henderson Texas where the homes were moved from the Heights. There were normally about 10-20 homes for sale sitting on that lot.

Maybe I'm a terrible person, but I'm really surprised that with all the released Black Panther footage I haven't seen any memes or gifs with it mashed up with the Hooper X monologue from Chasing Amy. If I remember, "WHC" was (loosely) a parody of Black Panther to begin with.

Or maybe I'm just waiting for Vision to ask, "What's a Nubian?"

And then Tony will refer to Natasha as "Finger Cuffs."

Huh. I finally have an answer to the question "What type of horrible person would willingly taint delicious pizza with pineapple?"

Cokeheads.

I feel like there are other places that need the jobs more, and some of those locations are already congested like crazy. But the narrowing down has to do with what they can give Amazon.

I'd be very surprised if it is Austin. Everything is expensive there, especially land. Dallas might be an option though... very close to one of the most major air hubs in the hemisphere. Of course, same goes for Atlanta and Denver. Though, being Seattle people, they might choose to eschew "flyover country" in favor of something on the east coast.
I think they should pick Toronto just to get a bigger toehold in Canada.

The cost of living in Denver is also starting to hit atrocious levels. I think I've mentioned before that the base value of my home has gone up at least 50% since we bought it. I know that renting is god awful and studio apartments are easily over $1000 a month.

They are building a distribution center on I-25 right now, in a spot directly in between me and Denver, so I'm hoping I'll get same day shipping from that. That's the extent of my interest in Amazon being around here.

I think the only way they'll choose Toronto is if it'll give them some advantage dealing with Europe and Asia, like a choice in which trade agreements and various laws they can exploit.

I was really hoping they'd come to buffalo. I'd love a direct flight route to Seattle.
I'm still mad that Southwest had a trial direct route from Buffalo to Denver (but not round trip), and then dropped it. My hopes were so high.[DOUBLEPOST=1516309028,1516308823][/DOUBLEPOST]

Also they can peace the fuck out when the country starts to topple. :ninja:

From what you've said im surprised you want more chances to see your parents.
My mother is a drama queen, but not to the point where I refuse to visit my parents.

Besides, you can't send unaccompanied minors on flights with connections. :p

Whaaat? I used to fly unaccompanied with connections all the time when I was a kid! When did that change?

One of the airlines even had a special room for kids on long layovers. It had nintendo and a vending machine where all the prices were zero! It was awesome.

It probably changed around the times airlines started cutting costs and didn't want to deal with the hassle of needing to supervise minors between flights. At a certain age, like mid teenager, you are fine and can do whatever, but you don't get supervision anymore. I wouldn't trust my son to make a connecting flight on his own without getting distracted and lost though.

Rum goes in coke, not pineapple.

I always find it funny how prominent pineapple is in Canadian cuisine. It's not like we have an abundance of it growing up here.

Ahem.

Anyone live in Austin that'll let me stay with them the second weekend of March?

Asking for a friend.

Just kidding, asking for myself. :)
That depends.
If the someone you were staying with were to make an entire meal and then only take a few bites of it, would you be able to reliably finish the rest?

I don't think any of us live closer than 100 miles from Austin :/ And that'd be a hell of a commute for you, if you have to make it multiple times.

My new-found sister and biological father live in Austin, but I wouldn't do that to my worst enemy.

To give you an idea, this is what she posted to Facebook yesterday. Yes, it was written just like this - this is a cut & paste:

"This is werser ,girl is always better, looking, smarter, cook gooder, smell better,im going to have, when I'm in the cardboard box, place me face down. Pull my pants down just enough ,make it eseyer for every one ,kiss it, somebody make sure to clean my butt."

That is TERRIBLE! I'm so sorry.

Reminder - today is National Popcorn Day.

Now, what movie to watch while I'm eating my popcorn? Hmm, I haven't seen Baby Driver yet - that'll do.
