Kinda sucks that I gave up on writing because I just thought of something funny: Die Hard, only with a Dill twist.

DILL HARD.

Which is both a parody title and sounds like a porn. And I'm okay with that.

Anybody have that cutaway drawing of Venom showing how the teeth and tongue relate to Brock's real head?

Not sure. Having a Venom discussion with friends since the poster for the movie is up around here now.

The only other woman working in my wife's department has been getting shit on by their manager for a while. He has no idea she's on the verge of quitting, and probably gives her so little thought, even though she does most of the work since my wife just started, that he doesn't realize her recent husband is pretty well to do and she doesn't need this job.

So she's planning to go into the boss's office and demand a significant raise and the ability to work from home 2 out of 5 days a week. If he doesn't give, she's quitting on the spot.

This won't hurt my wife really since she's new and can't be expected to take over the odious amount of work, but it will create a sinkhole that the boss will expect that manager to fill in. So, it's win-win for her.

Only doing this anon in case there'd be any way for it to come back my way. I'm just amused.

MRW I look at what a doctoral degree would cost in tuition alone.
There's a BIG expectation that you'll be doing work for the college during your graduate work, hence the expense: they expect to wave most of the tuition, so they jack it up so they can get the most promising students to work essentially slave labor.

And we'll do it because that paper is valuable in the long run.

I regret getting my Master's. They haven't helped me in any discernible way and the loans are a millstone around my neck. While I am NOT suicidal in the least - I can't stress this enough - the only way I'll ever be able to retire or get out from under this would be to die, preferably in an accident do my wife also gets AD&D. (Roll D20 for Accidental Death & Dismemberment.)

My in-laws are italian-american, and quite tight with their family. If you know what I mean. They could, uh, arrange a little accident. Fuhgeddaboutit.

Oddly enough I looked up whether my loans would be forgiven if I were to die. I don't want my kids to be saddled with the debt.

The debt definitely goes away if they are federal student loans. For private loans, it quickly sinks into the morass of "it depends." It depends on the various laws in the various states, and if you had a co-signer, they're DEFINITELY on the hook. If you live in a Community Property state (Arizona,California, Idaho, Louisiana, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, Washington, or Wisconsin) they can go after your estate, and failing that, your spouse (or your parents, if you are a dependent).

I don't know if they can put the debt on your kids' shoulders, but depending on the terms of the loan and where you got it, they might be able to make it so the kids don't get anything from the estate, if the loan balance is greater than the estate.

The mortgage on my parents’ house was paid off when my dad died in ‘86. My cousins wonder why my mom didn’t press for the electric company to pay for the next one after the fire.

That all becomes moot on Monday. And she doesn’t know it’s happened. And won’t.

From what I've heard, the scummier companies will lie to the children and tell them that they're responsible for the debt. They can just refuse to pay, and the lender will have no legal recourse, but it fools enough people who don't know better and gets them to be stuck with it.

This. They are trying to turn familial debts into "moral" issues... something that a "good" person would repay. I told them to fuck off when they went after my mother for my grandmother's debts.

I'm pretty sure Elon Musk switched places with the Starman mannequin a la John Malkovich in Making Mr. Right, and is on his way to Mars in a modified Space Tesla.

Engineer: that’s funny. The trajectory of the final burn is off, suggesting the mass is 90kg heavier than the manifest says...

The perfect murder.

I guess.

Toronto's police recently arrested a serial kiler they didn't know existed. So, like, if he had stopped killing people after the first couple, those first couple would've been perfect murders, too.

It's weird, when dieting you expect to have cheat days where you're going to go over. Totally didn't expect "underfed" days. We finished dinner last night after a busy day ... so busy, I didn't realize I was under 1,000 calories. I made myself have some frozen yogurt and a banana just to get over the 1,200 danger zone, but I just wasn't up for eating more.

Not surprised I conked out at 10:00 and then slept eight hours when my usual is five. Everything feels weird.

Yep. Another reason food journaling is important. I almost went to sleep at 950 yesterday (after vigorous evening exercise), had to force some food in me. Not that fasting is generally bad, but if you're shooting for a controlled descent (and trying to minimize muscle loss)...

I’m in a weird place with my meds. If I eat certain foods, I want to throw up almost instantly, and I’m just done eating for an extended period.

I’m never hungry, so I’m always forcing myself to eat. And the list of food that makes me sick seems to be increasing.

I’ve told my doctors, but no one seems all that concerned. It’s all very weird.

I do that so often when I'm actively dieting, because I'm trying so hard to not eat junk that I just don't eat anything.

Calling @GasBandit

I got this in my e-mail today from my dental school:

During the Restorative Dentistry/ Comprehensive Care Course (RCC1001 and RCC1003)
it is also requested that you provide teeth with minimal to moderate decay. Some teeth with
existing restorations are acceptable. It is also advisable that you request the assistance of your
family dentist, other general dentists, periodontists, and oral and maxillofacial surgeons in your
area. A minimum of 45 extracted teeth should be attempted.
