Tumblr is making changes that require certain content to be flagged so that content can be filtered out for people who don't want to see it, because app store(s) are are requiring such capability. Among the stuff that now has to be flagged is sexual content.

A lot of people are taking this as a sign that porn is returning to Tumblr, but I think it means that Tumblr is just going to be cracking down on the remaining sexual content that was still allowed after the purge (written erotica, lingerie pics, technically not nudes, etc.)

People still use Tumblr? Honestly news to me

Last night I was at the sister-in-law's place for a House of the Dragon watch party. It was fun. We all had margaritas and a potluck. I was in my seat, nursing my drink, when my two-year-old nephew walked by. His toddler brain associates bright colors with candy and so he tried to get at my margarita. I gently waved him off and he found something else to do. For the rest of the party, whenever I sensed him close by, I put my hand over my glass and then he'd move on to another target. I think I'm getting used to having little kids around. I don't even have to see them to know they're close. The sounds of light, unsteady footsteps or breathing really low to the ground are enough to alert me.

If people in horror movies spent more time around small children, they'd up their chances of survival. Baby-sitters can go 50/50- if they're a good sitter? May survive. If they're still a teen? Eh, chances are lowered.

My kids try to play "ninja" with me ("This episode of MindDetective is called: Ninja") in which they try to sneak up on my where I am sitting without me seeing them first. They are hilariously bad at it. I have to be actively ignoring them to let them win.

Really hoping the survey I went to today brings more free shuttles to my area, both the regular route and hell around the Black Horse pike. There's A bus that goes up to Philly, but that's only really convenient if I'm going to the city, if I want to go to anywhere else around that line, I end up getting there usually an hour before it opens and I'm just stuck there being a bearded guy in a parking lot until the place I specifically want to go to opens.

Happy Birthday @bhamv3 !

Weird: today is one of the days of the year with the highest amount of friends of mine having their birthday (6)...And I noticed that out of those 6, 3 have died already. That's...Err...Weird. neither I, nor them, were all that old. Stay safe bhammy!

Zap, I think you got conned. Three feet is... much, much smaller than most planets. He's barely going to be able to eat a carrot.
Hasbro doesn’t possess the technology to build knee joints that can withstand such massive size. I know what I bought and I’m very pleased with it. I just have no idea where to put it yet. It’s going to be taller than my Titan size Transformers.

As I mentioned in the other thread, Li'l Z plays fall baseball. Tomorrow we were supposed to have a game, but due to the leftover rain from Ian we are supposed to receive, the league cancelled all Saturday games. So we're working it out with the other team to reschedule the game, and the consensus is the upcoming Monday, that is also Columbus Day /I.P. Day would work. And coach from the other team, in all seriousness, wrote back that ,"not all their kids have [the day] off because of anti-Italian bias within their school system".

... the wat.

Guys, I CANNOT with these people.

NGL, I really wanted Mr. Z to write back, "Yeah, that must be really hard for you guys. Sincerely, [extremely Asian name]" .
Well the Italian Americans pushed for Columbus Day as a day of pride for Italian Americans... - From a former Irish American Knight of Columbus.

This. I know it's a distant memory, but Italian Americans were treated like absolute shit for a very long time in America and this is one of many things they did in order to gain more widespread acceptance with the public at large.

Well, I know that part, and I've even complained here about how certain, now- "passable" communities have forgotten that they, too, we once considered non-white and undesirable. But it's laughable that Columbus being a piece of shit, his "accomplishments" were grossly exaggerated and focusing less on him is anything against Italians, despite the initial reason for the holiday. Not to mention, it's fuckin' Jersey- Italians are treated like a protected class here! What bias?!? The Feast of San Gennaro is almost St. Patrick's Day-levels.

Quick question for the folks who have/had kids: What age is appropriate for a child to be left alone at home for extended periods of time? By extended periods of time I mean like 3+ hours at a time.

Cause there's a couple I know who have a 4 year old daughter, and the wife needs to go away for a while for family/work reasons, while the dad needs to work during the day, so the wife wanted to hire a baby sitter or ask one of their parents to come take care of the daughter, and the dad was all like, "Nah, she'll be fine, she can walk home from nursery by herself and then take care of herself until I get home from work." And everyone who's heard about this has reacted pretty much with, "NO SHE FUCKING WELL CANNOT!!!" And the dad's all like, "I don't see what the big deal is here."

I'm also no kid-haver and can tell you that even 35 years ago, I wouldn't have been left alone like that. My parents waited until I was at least 6 to leave me alone for hours at a time.

<- Latchkey kid as fuck.

I know Asian countries tend to err on he younger side for individual responsibility, but 4 is probably too young, yes.

Yeah, that's a "no" from me, dawg. Definitely not at age 4, and I say that as someone who, during elementary school, would be home alone a few hours at a time.

Depends on the kid, I was riding my bike home from school and home for a couple of hours at 7. I’m still not sure how my sister survived at all. Our daughter was about 9 before doing it, but didn’t have much call to do it because her grandmothers were always available and she was the only grand in town.
