Rant VIII: The Reckoning

Their response sounds like a good excuse to start looking for a new job though.
Trying to talk the guy that they are looking at trying to fire because he refused to violate federal regulations (working more than 6 consecutive days in a row) into getting a union orginized, because whether he does or doesn't he's going to get fired because they are mad at him about that, and if he does he'll probably save his job (if he wants it) and it'll help everyone out immensely. We asked 6 other people about it that were working tonight and every one of them said yes, then I gave him a phone number. I hope he calls it and I hope it happens so we can improve our working conditions

So apparently my kids have to routinely tell the other kids at their school that I am not their grand dad who lives with his young daughter and her two kids.

The kitchen sink is clogged. Again (Third time in a year). My roommate hasn't even been back from his vacation for a week, and it was fine when I last used it in a big way (last tuesday). I'm getting real tired of his shit.

If he's shitting in the kitchen sink, get a new roommate :p

Look buddy I don't give a fuck what your shipping records say, this is not a live rottweiler, this is a dead halibut.

Edit: yoshi I am using examples everyone can grasp instead of the obscure engineering devices I am actually dealing with.

My cousin is 35 years old. She has two kids (16 and 13). She has stage 4 cancer of the ileum. Her house is in foreclosure b/c she stopped being able to work due to treatment, and her husband works at a restaurant. They're giving her at the most two months with no real treatment other than poison to extend her life a few more weeks. Fuck cancer.
She died this morning. God damn it.

Is there, like, a silent room you can go into for privacy? That would help. Sure helped me when I needed it.

I'm sorry for your loss, man.

We all knew this is where she was headed, but it doesn't make it easier. It's her kids and husband that I'm hurting for the most. Her poor daughter has been so affected since the diagnosis. It's not right. It's not just. There is no bullshit "plan" that makes this okay.

I am glad you are all here. It's the one place that I feel okay venting this stuff out.

I found out that one of my dental school classmates was in a boating accident yesterday and was taken to the hospital. She died overnight. She was a sweet girl, who was young and had a promising future ahead of her. She deserved better.

You know what's fun? Coming home to your spouse apologizing for putting a trojan that he can't seem to remove on your new-ish laptop.
Ooooh that sucks. Grab yourself a free copy of Malwarebytes, it's the best free solution I've found for damage control in situations like this.

We couldn't turn on the wifi to update it without there being big booty girls all over my screen. LOL It's all good. The ladies have been escorted out of the area. My most important things were backed up, so no loss there either.

My girlfriend has a non-malignant brain tumor. She's going to be ok, but is going to need to have brain surgery to remove it. I'm glad they caught it but this just sucks.

That's a terrible thing to happen to her, I wish her the best.
Also that nothing worse comes of it.

I'll type more when I get home tonight but what a miserable end to the best week and a half I've had in a long fucking time.

Car accident. Hospital trip. Etc.

I went to see my aunt today - in the hospital instead of at their place because she wasn't feeling good. Wasn't there when I got in, when she got back we get the results from her CT scan. The last chemo didn't take either, she's got new metastatics all over her liver and lungs, and they've now stopped all treatment except pain relief. It's going to be a few weeks, rather than the several months to maybe year it was first predicted to be.

Fuck cancer.
