not so serious but I want to rant II: Redemption

I think she just focuses on whichever crazy lady politician seems to have the best chance to get all the brown people out of our country.
When my sister-in-law moved to the U.P. in Michigan, she told me the best part was there were hardly any non-white people around. So yeah, it sounds like we have the same S-I-L.

My sister in law just wrote this on facebook:

And first I was all like  but THEN I was all like :aaah: because I can't write anything there that I want to because she gets super pissy and really, I don't need that shit.
But... ah! It's killing me!!!
That's my next-door neighbor, too. I think the rift in our relationship came about when I told her my kids are 1/4 Mexican.

Agh. On this train, one of my roommates during my course here in Montreal has revealed herself to be a rather racist individual. One day she comes home talking about the the "funny jews" (I came to understand she mean, and forgive if I'm misusing the term, Hasidic Jews) who were walking around the neighbourhood and how they dress funny and have stupid hair. She went on and on about "the jews" so I just told her I wasn't interested and left. I literally came home to her watching YouTube videos of these guys making fun of black people.

Yesterday she starts telling me how she found out one of the guys in the program is a Mennonite. He shouldn't be allowed here, she says, because they're not supposed to use planes. She went on about how the Mennonites in her hometown JUDGE her and "you can tell by they way they look at you".

Fuck me. I finally had enough, particularly because she was attacking this guy (when he wasn't even around, because she is spineless) who has been nothing but civil and nice to everyone, so I tried to talk her down and explain she had no reason to believe AT LEAST that this one guy was bad, but no. All Mennonites everywhere are bad according to her, and they should not be allowed to go to Wal-Mart (which is where they judge her).

Turns out it's futile to have that argument. Argh.

If someone brings up motorcycle accident statistics one more time when I'm having a conversation about buying one, I'm going to follow them around until they eat a cheesesteak or other high calorie food and bring up heart disease statistics.

Yes! I fucking know that motorcycles are less safe than cars. Thanks for the input, Mr. Play it safe jackass.

Man, I hate when I think thoughts that are so awful that it makes me feel crushed under a huge, fat, guilt-demon.

I am getting so tired of the road work in my neighborhood. Just finish paving already! They ripped up the black top road that I use for the last mile and a half of my commute. So I've been driving on a dirt road for the last month.

I AM SO TIRED OF MY CAR BEING COMPLETELY DIRTY!!!!

My car is too pretty to be this ugly.

I feel your pain, 2 1/2 years ago, the day we moved into our apartment, they tore up the road in front of the place, took 2 months to get it all repaved and set, then they tore down the bridge that crossed the highway to our work, took six months to get that back to rights, but now it's all good.

Bah! To encourage growth, my city dropped the requirement for paving roads in newly constructed neighbourhoods. Then promptly reinstated it. So I had a paved road then a dirt road then a paved road.

All on the same friggin road! And ridiculously enough, it's the provinces responsibility to maintain unpaved roads inside the city and the city's responsibility to maintain the paved. So to get the friggin 50 cm of snow plowed off my road in the winter, the city has to do the first section then the province has to do the second then the city has to come back and do the final bit.

It took a change in city government to fix this, and the residents had to pay for it all, to get the piddly little section paved.

My cat was laying on my chest when he decided to jump off. He tried to land on the bed but he ended up slipping off and landing on my face.

Ok, I understand the government decided that Indian land was separate and they don't have to pay taxes. I don't agree with that but thats an argument for another day.
However, if they don't have to pay taxes THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD NOT GIVE THEM FOOD STAMPS! Why does this happen?!

Because they are in the next best thing to a concentration camp.

Because we slaughtered them, lied to them, stole from them, and then had soldiers force them across the country to live in places NO ONE should have had to.

Okay, enough of that. The explanation is actually because anyone born on a reservation is still considered an American citizen, even if they don't have to pay taxes if they live on the reservation. As such, they have most of the rights and responsibilities of people outside of the Reservation. For instance, they can get government assistance but they can also be drafted in times of war.

But the reservations are considered another country. They can do other things not allowed in the US (most notably have casinos). I think the government should go one way or the other, not give them all the benefits without taxing them like everyone else.

As I said, simply, most of the assistance afforded members of native american tribes (whether they reside on the reservation or off the reservation) was outlined in the various treaties. They aren't so much getting benefits as getting reperations/paymets.

I didn't do shit to them. Hell, my ancestors didn't even do shit to them. I'm the first of my family born in America. Fuck off with your white guilt. I want my Nazi reparations!

On Saturday I drove 10 hours from Edmonton with my father in law. He smokes, I don't.

If I could tear out my lungs and sinuses, I would.

Regardless of why the treaties were made they were still made and they have to be honored. Treaties rank up with the constitution as the law of the land. It doesn't have to do with guilt it has to do with obligation. The payments aren't made because bad things were done to the native americans they are paid because that is the deal that the government made.

Why do I always get sick when I'm on vacation? It's like my immune system is linked to the time clock.
