Gas Bandit's Political Thread V: The Vampire Likes Bats

Right, they have to do something with all those "people" they have sitting in camps wasting tax payer dollars. And as we all know, ICE and CBP always follow proper procedure and due process.
But then that'd just make them "holding facilities where capital punishment is an option," which is still not the same thing as "concentration camps," right?

Who is defending this? Defacement of signs is a serious problem, regardless of the motivation. It's not okay that this sign got shot. That doesn't change the fact that showing a single pic of a defaced sign doesn't prove racism. (Which isn't something that needs proving. The United States is a country with a long history of racism, and it's easy to demonstrate, in multiple other ways, that racism continues to this day.)

I'm certainly not going to deny that racism is a huge problem in the United States, but it's just one of the many problems we have that lead to signs getting defaced. It's likely that at least some people shot the Emmett Till sign out of racism. But how many other signs around there are riddled with bullet holes? Is it in a remote location? (Because just about any sign in a remote location in the rural US is going to get shot at some point.)

EDIT: Using the reasoning that vandalism automatically means a political message about what's been vandalized... That means that Christmas really is under attack in America! Any church that puts out a nativity scene is likely to have the baby Jesus stolen, or the display otherwise defaced. The church I grew up in puts out security cameras and other detection systems to attempt to prevent this. I know this is far from uncommon. Since this is happening to many churches, and happens repeatedly, clearly this is a case of a hate crime against Christians.
It certainly makes it in even worse taste, but it does not show intent. As Pez provided examples of, people who shoot signs will shoot any sign with no regard for what's on them, even things that many would consider hallowed, patriotic, poignant, or inspiring.

Would they allow cigarette or tobacco people into schools to speak? No? Then why Juul? And if you don't think vaping is marketed to kids (which is what they claim) how do you explain this:

https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/carolinekee/e-liquid-resembles-food-candy-fda-warns

A lot of the promotions with these come with REAL CANDY as well. Can't have a cartoon camel but packaging the nicotine with actual candy is fine?
Juul making their products look like candy is shitty, but it’s nothing compared to their sophisticated social media ad campaign on Instagram, SnapChat, and other platforms that was targeted squarely at kids aged 13-17.

Juul is fucking awful.

Any time people try and pull the "every military person is a hero" bullshit, send them this post:

https://www.nbcsandiego.com/news/lo...Camp-Pendleton-San-Diego-513200381.html?amp=y

Sixteen Marines were arrested during battalion formation at Camp Pendleton Thursday, accused of illegal activities ranging from drug-related offenses to human smuggling, officials said.

Officials with the 1st Marine Division of the U.S. Marine Corps said representatives with Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) were also involved in what they called the “mass arrests.”

The Marines - all E-2 to E-4 in rank - were arrested based on information gained from a previous human smuggling investigation, military officials said.

NBC 7 first reported the news that two Camp Pendleton-based Marines were arrested earlier this month and accused of transporting undocumented immigrants along the U.S.-Mexico border near Tecate.
Note that this isn't human trafficking, but smuggling people across the border into the US. For $8000 a person.

I understand that I crossed the line a few days ago. What's the worst thing I am allowed to post that I want to happen to Ted Cruz? Because whatever that is, I want that to happen to Ted Cruz.

Modern day republicans are almost enough to make me hope there's an actual heaven and hell thing going on, because I really want to believe that, no matter how much I've screwed up, some of those people will be suffering unfathomably more, for all eternity, than I will.

You hope cruise and cheeto make sloppy unsatisfying coitus in a volcano on Venus?

One, that sucks. Two, it sucks that it's expected that parents will shoulder that financial burden when even in cases of rich kids, that's not always true. Three, the financial burdens on people due to US colleges also sucks.

Yeah, TBH nothing makes me more annoyed than the fact that your parents income counts towards financial aid when you are legally an adult when you attend college (most of the time). That's one of the reasons that college costs have inflated so much.

In the wake of a media shitstorm holding them partially to blame for at least some of the recent mass shootings, 8chan has been taken down. Their host dropped them like a hot potato.

Now the debate is whether or not 8chan should be allowed to reopen at all, given its connections to some of the perpetrators of these shootings. Is it something enabling crimes, or just a speech platform that occasionally has bad apples?

8chan was literally founded because 4chan was "too SJW."
Reminder: basically the only rule was no child porn... you couldn't even talk about it. So they started talking about "cheese pizza" instead.

Yes, THAT is why we call it PizzaGate. The fact it involved an actually pizza place is almost incidental.

There are rumors that ICE was checking papers for citizenship at reunification centers after the El Paso shooting. The only reports on the matter I can find just say that ICE denies this. Are we supposed to just trust ICE on the matter?

That's a ballsy move on the part of Mexico. I hope they get everything they want.
If there was an attack in Cancùn where 5 or 6 Americans were killed, the US would be asking the terrorist lone wolf person of interest mentally ill poor Christian soul to be handed over ASAP.
