*sighs, turns over "DAYS SINCE LAST MASS SHOOTING IN AMERICA" sign to 0*

So, apparently Harper his in a closet during all this. It is an image I find hilarious and I kind of hope it is true.

Also, apparently the MP's snapped off the flag poles and flanked doors, ready to skewer who ever came through. Canadians are ready to fight with what ever they have on hand, I guess.

You're like Hobbits.

I find it hard to believe that, in a room full of Canadians, at least one of them wouldn't have a hockey stick hidden away somewhere.

What happens if a hockey game breaks out? Or they have to scare away a moose?

If we want them to get anything done the hockey sticks have to be banned.

...I like to imagine they were all sent to the Ukranian parliament.

At least six kids shot, shooter - a freshman - dead. Three of the students are in surgery and in critical condition.

Man, this brings back memories.

Students are saying it was over a girl. An ex- and current boyfriend thing. Not sure which the shooter is. It's also being reported that two are confirmed dead, not sure if the shooter is among the two.

Perhaps we should make hockey sticks mandatory in Parliament. If nothing else, think of how fun it would be to watch the debates.
The government and opposition benches are two sword-lengths from each other. I am pretty much daily disappointed our politicians don't still show up armed with something.

Hockey games only tend to break out at fights. And vice versa of course.

Something interesting about this one. A student heard the gunshots & turned around to see the gunman shoot someone else. He booked it out of there and went home, only finding once he got there that he was an intended target. He was shot in the back and didn't know it. He is only alive because his books stopped the bullet.

I noticed the name on the book was a professor at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln that I knew, so I sent him the links. He responded that he wanted to talk to the student, so I sent his information to the student. I don't know anything since then, but his book literally saved a life.

I'm willing to bet that if a gunman shot up congress or a NRA convention, legislation for gun control would be passed pretty damn quick.
I'd be willing to bet an NRA convention would probably be the last place a gunman would try to "shoot up." They tend to like those "gun free" zones where they can be assured their victims can't fight back.

Also, congress? How exactly would he get in there past all the metal detectors and armed guards? Remember Canada actually had a gunman at their parliament building recently, and he was taken down pretty smashingly.

Part of the shock and awe that any crazed gunman commands is hitting targets people otherwise would not expect to be struck. An NRA con would guarantee instant fame and make it into the history books. Though I agree for the most part that these shooters are cowardly in nature. I'm not claiming it's likely to happen, just that huge changes would occur if a gunman were to succeed.

If the gunman responsible for the parliament hill attacks had access to even half the arsenal Americans are permitted to own, there isn't a shadow of a doubt in mind many more people would have died that day.[DOUBLEPOST=1416602891,1416602662][/DOUBLEPOST]
If someone shot up an NRA convention, how would you be able to tell who started it?
All the possible answers from that question make my head spin.

Fair enough... and I'm sure if Ozymandias managed to frame Doctor Manhattan for destroying major cities, we'd see unparalleled international cooperation too.

There's so many variables when you start postulating changes to what happened that the outcome becomes impossible to predict. So what if he had an AR-15? Does that mean he would know how to use it well? If the populace had our level of armament, wouldn't it stand to reason the guards would have as well? I think the only thing you don't have a shadow of a doubt about is guns are bad, only bad people have guns, and it's not a completely ridiculous idea to think we could actually disarm the nation.

Investigation has revealed that the Sandy Hook shooter was coddled and appeased by his mother with the aid of the school district instead of treated and medicated to address the obvious danger he was to himself and others as documented in 2006 by the Yale Child Study Center, which also said specifically that doing *exactly what his mother and the school district did* would make him worse.
