You ever have one of those dreams where it seems like everything is going great, then you begin to realize to your horror that it's actually a nightmare? That's what this dream job is starting to feel like.

Playing hockey last night, a slapshot friggin nailed me right in the wrist where my glove and chest protector sleeve have a gap. My wrist has been killing me all day.

A meeting for mediating our foreclosure has just been moved up a few months. I have a feeling this isn't going to be good news.

I think you need the REAL rant thread for that one. Ouch.

My not-so-rant rant:

I have new work shoes. They are jet black and polished to a mirror shine. They are also stiff as a junior high kid during his first slow dance. (I really hope that happened to someone else, too.) Consequently, my feet hurt.

Ugh, the person bringing the meat for Easter Dinner showed up an hour late, with a raw hunk of prime rib. It was not aged, or seasoned before hand. And they only cooked it until till it turned gray on the outside. we might as well ate it as soon as they walked in the door.

Yeah I agree. Foreclosure rants are definitely on the more serious side. I think this thread is more for you to post something and the rest of us go, "HARDEN THE FUCK UP".

I don't know how people like prime rib. It's pretty much the most disgusting looking hunk of meat you could ever eat. Yeah, it's tender, but man do you have to sift and cut mounds of fat to get to it.

They had to make Au jus from a package because it was not cooked long enough to drop any juices or blood.

I'll admit, prime rib is the only meat I'll eat on the rare side (as prime rib should be), but it does in fact taste good when it's been cooked at least long enough to make juice.

This is a beautiful prime rib:

Notice how little fat there is though.

This is just fucking gross looking:

Oh, little stuff... uh, my sister got pissed at me at Easter Dinner because I still haven't gotten those tests on my thyroid the doctor ordered?

I recently joined a Facebook group of soccer players who play at a nearby park several times a week. Yesterday I played for the first time in months. It felt great to get some serious exercise again but now my legs hurt. Ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow. It hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts.

So, My dad had a cow die this winter. He put it out into the swamp to get rid of it. I was walking in the woods today and my dog disappeared for almost 15 minutes. I'm pretty sure he ran off and found that god damn stinky pile of rotten cow guts. He smelled something fierce and his belly was bulged out. God damn it, I'm gonna have to clean up puke tomorrow I know it. Why the fuck would any animal touch something like that?

You better watch him and make sure he didn't get worms.

I keep getting moments of creativity but just havent been pushing to make things happen. Lately I just feel like I am not focused on anything.

My body hurts from hitting the gym again.

Still pissed from playing WOW over the weekend. It is fustrating trying to get my Fire mage to uber status. I hate needing raids to get all the good items.

Looked at an old role playing game I created years ago. Happy memories but they turned sad because it feels like table top role palying is dead.

Did I forget to mention that I feel I cant focus on any one thing. :p

Tabletop Roleplaying is far from dead. D&D 4E is fairly successful, Pathfinder is selling gangbusters - in fact I think this weekend or next is Paizo-Con in Seattle - heck, even the little Third-Party Publisher I write for has sold more than 200 copies each of our 4 books, in less than 8 months. In THIS economy and with almost no marketing beyond word of mouth.

--When I say fairly successful, I mean it's not as successful as 3/3.5 were, even out of the gate. But it's still huge.

in repky to gustoFACE:

the only any gaming i do now is a few minutes scattered here and there in EVE, which is a numbers and twitch game. Don't spend hours immersed in anyone elses worlds anymore, not even if I get to write up the backstory of my halfling. I stopped playing pen and paper D&D right around the time the guys I rp'd with and I hit puberty. Now a days I hardly have time for writing my own stuff and getting it published once or twice a year.

I hear you on the wasting time in the fantasy world. I try to limit my time.

My muse has her moments. She tends to visit, spending weeks and months with me. And then like that, she runs off and makes me pine for her. I may have to do something creative just to get her back. Something crazy to make her notice me again.

I have been toying with the idea of hitting the game store again. It has been years since I have played any table top. My fiance keeps pushing me to go. Pick up a game and call a few friends. Hhhmmm. Might be worth checking out the new D&D books. Just from glancing through them I see a ton of changes. :)

If you want a pretty easy (and entertaining) introduction to 4E, I suggest subscribing to the Dungeons and Dragons podcast and listening to the games that Scott Kurtz, the Penny Arcade guys, and Wil Wheaton play together. They started before 4e was even released so a lot of things are explained pretty clearly.

Plus it's usually hilarious!

Well, 4E is somewhat based on the MMORPG model - tanks, buffers, DPS, etc. Most of the focus of the rules seems to be on combat. With enemies, there's now large groups of 1 hp underlings called "Minions" or "Mooks", with "controllers" as the kind of "Boss" monster. Now, if that's the sort of game you're looking for, then it's a good, easy to jump into system. I don't hate 4E - it's just not the game I personally want to play.

Pathfinder was created by a lot of former TSR/WotC people - Lisa Stevens, James Jacobs, Jason Bulmahn, Sean K. Reynolds, Erik Mona, et al. It's a continuation, upgrade, and streamlining of 3.5 D&D. There's now a lot more good reasons to play a class through to level 20 instead of class dipping so much your character looks like a salad bar.
