Former President Trump Thread

cheetos razor "no matter how bad today is, tomorrow will be worse"

We're at forced sterilization, how the hell will tomorrow be worse?

Asked the wife iif she’d heard about what ICE is doing in GA.
She replied,”Oh yeah, that’s been going on for ages in the US and Canada. Brown (& Black & Native) women who go to a hospital to give birth are curiously diagnosed with conditions that can “only” be resolved via hysterectomy (or some other procedure which “happens” to have sterilization as a side effect) at rates much higher than people who are less melanistic. If you look at Pro-choice, if isn’t just about being allowed to have safe abortions, it’s also about not having your lady bits pulled out during an otherwise simple appendectomy because some (presumably White) surgeon was worried about how many more non-White babies might come out of there.”

In a mild attempt to lighten the mood, cheeto claims he read the entire Bob Woodward book in a single night.

Also the Canadian Government released to merika a list of their counter tariffs this morning. merika revoked their aluminum tarrifs soon thereafter and retroactively to the date of their implementation, something something targeting swing states in an election 19D chess....confeve

I saw someone do the math on this. He would have had to read 2.2 pages per minute, or close to 900 words a minute. This is around twice the speed of someone considered a "fast reader."

Totally doable for the president, I'm sure.

It's hard to do the math because we don't have a defined set of time, just "a night". At 480 pages if he only read a page a minute he would finish in about 8 hours.

Or if he just skipped to the pictures, probably 30 seconds

I’m sorry, I forgot to mention the math all depended on him reading the book on his flight from Arizona to DC.

Exploding trees and forest cities. Trumps weird discription of Austria sounds like he is talking about a fantasy setting.

The head of the HHS decided to take off the next 60 days for his health.
The head (secretary), Alex Azar, or the spokesman (assistant secretary of public affairs), Michael Caputo? Because I'd heard about the latter's meltdown and leave, but haven't heard much about the former.

If you think anything I've posted in that thread is tabloid style sensationalism, then I have failed as a human being, and I am sorry.
It was more a hope that the website in question was just baiting for clicks, but that was before my wife informed me that this has been going on for literal hundreds of years.

Edit: aww, it truncated the headline.

[Onion article with long title]
I realize that my sheltered upbringing, inherent naïveté, and perpetually busy schedule are usually played for amusement around here, both by myself and others. Missed movies/shows, pop culture, and plenty of other stuff that everyone else probably found out about when they were twelve how can you possibly not know about ##### har har wink nudge doing The Thing. But that means there is also a startlingly huge number of actual significant things I’ve been blissfully unaware of all my life, things which all-too-frequently make me incredulously exclaim, “There are people who unironically think this is a GOOD idea?”

I’m with you. I am learning about a shocking number of truly disturbing things lately.

It's gross for sure, and it's difficult with kids because I know the schools aren't going to teach them shit about stuff like this, but I don't want to overwhelm them with it because I'd prefer they not have the same crushed spirit I've been enjoying for years. It's like every time one of them brings up a historical event, I feel the need to point out something that's not published in our Texas-approved, conservative-leaning, hell-yes-America textbooks that they're supplied.

My kids have learned some very upsetting things about our past as a country, and I’m glad they did. It seems to be incomplete though and not always age appropriate. I would never ask for what’s there to be removed, but a few subjects could possibly be moved a year or two back. Maybe I’m naive?

I don’t know why every country always seems to want to bury the skeletons of its past. I assume it’s because it’s embarrassIng to have to admit to your nation’s citizens just how irresponsibly the folks with statues may have acted or how reprehensible your nation’s policies may have been, and that knowing about these things could potentially cause those citizens to think less of their nation as a result, or feel like they have to make excuses to other nations to save face.

BUT on the other hand just think how an adult citizen‘s faith/trust in their government might be shaken/shattered if they were to suddenly discover that their government has been LYING to them their whole life about something so important. Why, some of ‘em might be outraged at the discovery, and then have a hard time believing anything their government tells them from that point forward. And others might even develop an unhealthy coping mechanism where they selectively “choose not to believe” the truths they find inconvenient, even when those truths (and sufficient facts to back them up) are thrust into their faces. Adopting an oblivious attitude/habit like that could lead to all sorts of other problems as time goes by.

The way the USA has treated people not of English background has been horrible since the first English settlers landed at Jamestown in 1602. I've known that for decades.
