Coronavirus Thread

@Cog you doing okay? I saw some of the news coming out of Ecuador.
I'm ok. The big problem is the next province. Most of the cases are there and they don't follow protocol and the government don't know what to do. It's a perfect storm of stupidity.

Anyone giving out fake Covid news should be immediately fired or banned, no matter who the target of the "prank" is.

I thought I was kind of a meme lord, but I'd never seen either Corona Chan nor Wood Sitting on a Bed until now.

Don't google that second thing at work or in polite company btw.

The wood sitting on the bed one was like a really fucked up Rick Roll. Give it a name having to do with Covid and you found out real fast who did & didn't read your messages. There are stories of women tweeting it or sharing it to their elementary school mom circles, etc.

I'd seen Corona Chan but had no idea it was as big as it was.

...man...the internet...

So my week is done, got another week off and then see if we do this cycle again, go back to work as normal or if I get laid off.

Now that the CDC has said wearing clothes masks will help slow the spread, people are buying them up.

And I'm going to keep it to myself (except here) that those cloth masks still will not protect you. Healthcare workers have to go through tested mask fitting with professional grade stuff. Wearing clothes masks helps in case you're an asymptomatic carrier. It's estimated 25% of people with the virus fall into this category.

But it's better this way, because maybe if each selfish ass thinks that cloth is protecting them when they're actually protecting others, it'll actually accomplish something.

So those pads aren't doing shit for those two.

I would think that asympyomatic carriers are the biggest spreader of the disease, so it seems like these masks probably would help stop the spread.

I should've phrased that better.
Masks will not protect the mask-wearer, but yes, it'll help slow the spread. I'm just saying, a lot of people are buying them thinking of them as self-protection, which they aren't, but if they're doing the right thing then no reason to stop them.

I've seen some conjecture that decreased viral doses can lead to lesser symptoms. If that's true, then the cloth masks can be helpful.
