*sighs, turns over "DAYS SINCE LAST MASS SHOOTING IN AMERICA" sign to 0*

Didn't a man don body armour and an assault rifle walk into a WalMart yesterday prompting an evacuation?
Yeah, but I don't get the evacuation. He's a good guy with a gun who will save everybody when a bad guy with a gun starts shooting up the place.

You know, I actually want to see the GOP take on violent videogames and make that a big issue. Just imagine the most toxic, cancerous elements of the gaming community turning all their malicious trolling on the Republicans. Imagine how badly that would go for both sides.

Or in layman's terms:

Raindrops on roses
And whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
Cream-colored ponies and crisp apple strudels
Doorbells and sleigh bells
And schnitzel with noodles
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings
Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes
Silver-white winters that melt into springsThese are a few of the things that cause school shootings

Maybe that deserves an accurate rewrite:

"Racists on 8chan and guns sold to white boys,
Trump tweets and hate speech,
and Fox News's white noise.
Angry men marching behind Nazi flags...
These are a few of the things that cause mass shootings!

@HCGLNS I think this is what you heard about :
Obviously biased source, but it was literally the first result in Google for this one with what little I remembered hearing about it.
Unfortunately that article is missing the "how and why", which @mikerc posted a few spots above this:
Shooter was "testing commitment to 2nd Amendment "

So, basically you've got a guy who literally came there to stir up shit, and as I've seen other people speculate, the "good guy with a gun" could be sued because this idiot was supposedly within his open carry rights. It's a fucked up situation all around.
EDIT: sorry, phone is being extra stupid today.

I'm not sure, since my last math class was so long ago, but i think 2 good guys with a gun cancel each other out...

Literally anything to prevent people from giving up their murder-toys.

But is he training them to return fire? The only way to stop shooters is a "Good Boy! with a gun".

Seriously, though, this is probably going to result in a bunch of shot dogs. :( And yes, I am aware of the extensive training military dogs get. Our white German Shepard, Sheba, was a retired military dog and she was amazing. But not bulletproof.

$48M Michigan high school has places to hide in case of mass shooting

"The design of the new sections includes safe spaces that can be used to protect students in the event of a shooting and long curved hallways that would offer protection too. Cement block bump outs are also placed in the curved hallways, KCEN-TV reported. To cut down on sight lines further, it also gives an opportunity for students to hide back behind and hopefully get help from within the classroom," Fruitport Superintendent Bob Szymoniak."

1. Yeah, this really does sound like the design of an FPS.

2. This is not a solution to gun violence. It's trying to seal a ruptured artery using bubble gum.

3. This sounds like it's going to make it easier for students to hide shit from teachers. Those obstructed sight lines and places to hide are going to become where couples get frisky, bullies corner victims, and drug deals go down.

I'd hate to say it but... any design that makes it harder for the gun to do his job is going to make it harder for response to do it's job too.

You're not wrong.
I mean, if you build a fortress to keep people out, then by definition you're going to have a harder time dislodging anyone who DOES manage to make it inside.

Especially since the current strategy for these things seems to be to wait and see if they kill themselves and only go in if they must.

Watched the video and there are some odd design choices. Maybe it's just me but the classroom looks tiny. And how are 40 students gonna hide out of the line of sight? Especially with this huge glass front facing the hallway? Oh and a whole school district can be put under lookdown with one button. I'm sure that won't be problematic

Jesus I almost want to just keep my kids at home all the time now. I feel like these shootings are drifting closer to me.

From what little I know the shooter was a white guy in his mid thirties being pulled over by a cop in Midland, and as the officer came to his window he shot the officer, after which he peeled out towards Odessa and basically started killing people along the way. Most of his victims being near the end of this trip. He then stole a USPS truck after shooting the driver, though no one talks about why he did this. The police, for once, actually gunned him down.

Honestly I am kind of wondering if the dude snapped on a whim or if this was premeditated. It all started with that traffic stop, so did he freak out, shot the cop, then just decided if he was going to go to jail he might as well have a body count? Or was he on his way to do some shit and just so happened to be pulled over before he reached his target? I mean what the fuck.

The governor of Texas recently admonished the state for lagging behind California in new gun sales. WHAT. THE. FUCK.

Fuck your appeal to emotion. Fuck your guns.
