Former President Trump Thread

The irony, of course, is that Lee WAS a great general.
I mean, he picked the losing side (or more like the losing side picked him, really), but he knew his job, did his job to the best of his ability, he knew when it was time to quit, and he actually felt a responsibility for those people under his charge.

On the other hand, he used to beat slaves with his bare hands as part of their "education" and washed their open wounds with brine. So sometimes people acting like they are responsible for you is kind of the worst thing in the world.

And now Fox News is calling anti-Trump protestors "Brown Shirts", comparing them to the Nazi paramilitary. I've got news for you, Newt Gingrich, the Left aren't the ones flying Nazi flags.

What's this? Dolt45 is apathetic about the death of a journalist? And instead he's focusing on the huge amounts of money that Saudi Arabia pays the US? I'm shocked, shocked I say!

I for one liked it better when he was saying he wasn't even a citizen, while sitting in the Oval Office, and asking his staff if he was right about him not being a citizen...

Cheeto-In-Charge made the West Valley a nightmare today, thanks to multiple sporting events happening in the area.

Glad I voted Democrat in the mid-terms.

ANYONE who continues to support Trump at this point is against free speech. PERIOD. He is now openly praising violence against reporters. This is nothing less than an assault on the first amendment.

EDIT: A quote from Dolt45 from the same speech, "Democrats have become the party of crime. It's true." In the same speech where he openly praised the commission of a crime, he claimed that the opposing party are the criminals.

Is Michael Cohen trying to undermine his own testimony? He's gone full-on anti-Trump, could that just be a ruse to make it seem like his testimony is nothing more than a petty attempt at revenge? Tell the truth so unconvincingly that everyone thinks he's a liar.

Cohen got hung out to dry by the guy he was counting on to keep him out of prison. He's rightly pissed about it.

He won't be over her winning the popular vote by 3 million until the senility takes the memory away. Even then he'll hate her, he just won't remember why.
I can't wait until he's no longer president and has to deal with folks treating him like absolute garbage for the things he did. He will never understand why it's happening.

Of course, that's assuming they let him run free after the election. Even if he's not tossed in prison, I highly suspect that he's going to have 24/7 guards keeping him within US borders for the rest of his life. He's too much a flight risk and he'd be perfectly willing to go onto Russian/Chinese state television and reveal US secrets/denounce the US for money.

As long as McConnell gets to be the power behind the moron and gets what he wants, nothing will change. I hope the Democrats take the House, Mitch will suddenly sing a different tune of "We need bipartisanship" and they will laugh in his face.

Assuming they learned anything from what happened during Obama's first term. I'm willing to bet they haven't. :(

Trump is pulling the U.S. out of the 1987 nuclear arms treaty with Russia. He's saying they've been violating it, but my guess is this let's him pretend he's tough on Russia to give his base a talking point, while allowing both countries to increase nuclear stockpile.

He met with some big defense contractors right before pulling out of the treaty. Wonder how much Dirty Donny is making off that move...

The article I read said it might be out of fear of falling behind China in nuclear arms.

As much as I hate to say it... Russia has almost certainly been violating it because Putin still expects any armed conflict to escalate into nuclear war and has made it clear he's willing to fire first. He's literally said he expects he could "win" a small scale nuclear conflict. It's all part of his machismo; if he said otherwise, his rivals would have eaten him alive. They probably would have already if he hadn't been successful at disrupting the 2016 election. But his time is coming unless he can unlock those billions the US is currently holding hostage.

China though? China has an arsenal but fully expects to never use it. China knows we're willing to come to the table and hash out shit before it comes to nuclear war and they are happy to have a rival more interested in dollars than borders. Ultimately though, we're probably going to have some sort of navel conflict with China in the nearish future, if only because they aren't interested in respecting any of our allies' nautical borders. There's a reason that both Japan and South Korea have our most advanced anti-missile technology (something Putin is TERRIFIED of apparently). But it's unlikely to escalate into a nuclear conflict; China loses the second it's borders are closed to trade and it doesn't have the force projection to keep us from just sinking any ship going to China.

Not to keep laying it in today, but

From the article:

"For the last year, health and human services has privately argued that the term “sex” was never meant to include gender identity or even homosexuality, and that the lack of clarity allowed the Obama administration to wrongfully extend civil rights protections to people who should not have them."

That very phrasing is going to turn this into a super slippery slope to determine which people count as human and are therefore entitled to human rights vs which people aren't human, down to gender, sexuality, ethnicity, nationality, hell maybe even political party.

But why? Why does it matter if transgendered people have civil rights? What do they lose?

I’ve never understood this part of the conservative mindset.

I mean, just be normal already. C'mon. After all, look at Iran and Russia, they don't even have any gay people. There just aren't any. And if you would say otherwise, their leaders invite you to inform them of exactly where they are.

They lose their undeserved, and fragile, smug sense of superiority. We shame people into voting, until they finally give in and vote to feel better about themselves. And they vote for whoever makes them feel good. Be it feeling good because their chosen candidate has promised to keep them safe from the races they fear, or because they've promised to change things so that they have more money, or promised to protect the environment, or because their candidate has promised to support their religious views (which many also hold only because it makes them feel good).

There are very few people who will vote for something that they know will be harder on them, but is the best choice despite that. Many pople won't vote for higher taxes, even if it meant they'd end up making more money, or if meant they'd spend less on healthcare. Even those that do vote for higher taxes do so because it lessens the guilt they have over not doing more.

Very few people will vote to give their religion less influence, because they fear it will make it harder for them to follow that religion and feel good while doing so. It's not about doing what's right, it's about doing what make you feels empowered, or happy, or safe, or purposeful, or whatever. People made them feel bad about not voting, so when they vote they go in with the mindset of making themselves feel better.

It's their hate and cruelty that bind them. If there were only people like them in America, they would discern other differences between each other. There must always be an enemy, but only one weak enough that can't possibly combat them without help.
