Minor victory thread

So a while back I posted that my car was dead with a bad water pump.

The mechanic had his head lodged firmly up his ass, and told a bald faced lie. He'd neglected to burp the system after replacing the radiator and adding coolant, didn't realize that the cap to the new radiator had a second gasket which made closing it difficult and wound up leaving it half open, and in short made a few minor fuck ups. The water pump, which he claimed "was pouring out liquid", is fine.

So I'm back on the road, though still saving up for a newer car. A 25 year old car with 305,000 miles on it is due to be replaced.

Yeah, whatever man. You're European. You drink wine for breakfast, siesta the afternoon away and sponge off Germany.
Well, two out of three ain't bad, but sadly I'm one of those silly North-Western European guys so, like the Germans, the south sponges off me.

Sadly, they don't sponge me off.

I braved Walmart today. I don't know how I manage it, but every time I go during the day, it's crazy busy. It was packed again today. Even if I got my car sticker (another story all together), I would have had a long walk to the store today.

It was all worth it though, when they had a display of fleece lined leggings! They are awesome and so comfy! I'd like to think they look good too lol!

Two things I envy you: You can order anything online and you have local animal rescue groups. We have 5 cats my wife "rescued" and their food cost a fortune.

Some of my friends used to be like that before they had kids. They'd visit an animal shelter to do something mundane like donating cat food. They'd come back with a new cat because the shelter worker hit them with the usual line. "This cat is very sweet once you get to know it. But nobody wants it so we'll have to put it down tomorrow."

At the height of their animal collecting, they had one dog and five cats. My friends were twenty-somethings without steady work at the time. They were always broke even if they just got the cheap food.

It was different when I took care of Tim. He was only one cat so I splurged on Fancy Feast and gourmet treats. He didn't like beef, so if I got a variety pack I just gave the beef to some friends who had a cat. Now they can't even open a can of soup without attracting attention.

Job interview went surprisingly well. If the interviewer says you hit all the marks, possess all the qualities they're looking for, seem like just the kind of guy who'd fit in great in the group, and you're the best candidate they've seen with no-one coming up with a resume near yours, I'm going to guess you'd have to be doing ok. It also turns out that, while they listed "willing to work nights/weekends in shifts" in the ad, that was to scare off people who might never want to do it, because there might be the occasional once or twice when someone falls ill, but it's not actually the intention and it'll be mostly steady 9-5ish hours. I may have low-balled my expected/desired pay check, though....When they asked me what I was earning now (yeah, yeah, they're not technically allowed to ask that but anyway), and how much more I expected to start making, I gave slightly-higher-than-my-actual-current-pay as current and "at least worth the risk of changing over, so at least a couple hundred a month more", and the answer was "oh, that's no problem, sure". Man, I was kind of on the fence before this interview but with better hours, a better (2 miles instead of an hour+ each day) commute, higher wage, more benefits and a job description that couldn't fit me better if I'd written it myself, I'm actually cautiously optimistic and having to work at keeping my enthusiastic side down.

Remember when I was thinking of giving up comedy and shuttering my entertainment company? Well, in the last week I've done two wildly successful gigs, booked two more - one a referral and one a repeat customer from last year - and another that will tell me Monday whether or not they are booking (they have their party planning meeting Friday). I also have one that wants me back in April for their post prom.

I think I was just in a down place.
