I don't care if they make the National Anthem gender neutral. I actually feel it is a step in the right direction, but at least use proper grammar when you make the change.

"in all of us command" is just bad english.

I was sold on it when it turned out it was ORIGINALLY gender-neutral, but was changed near one of the wars way back when. But I agree on the grammar. C'mon!

I'd love to sing "thou dost in us command" or even "you do in us command".

Our anthem is terrible. It is one of the worst national anthems in the world. Possibly the worst. I can't think of one I like less. The Maple Leaf Forever is catchier, it has better lyrics (either the original lyrics or the 1980 rewrite), and it's easier to sing.

....You guys don't like Oh Canada? It's great! It's non-threatening, yet patriotic, it's actually singable, it's not too long, it's recognizable.

I mean, seriously, have you listened to other anthems? Most of them suck.

It's banal. It's nothing. It's so bland.

Come on:

This is non-threatening, patriotic, more singable, etc.

And the French version of O Canada - which is the original - is lyrically better, but the tune is unchanged:
Ô Canada!
Terre de nos aïeux,
Ton front est ceint de fleurons glorieux!
Car ton bras sait porter l'épée,
Il sait porter la croix!
Ton histoire est une épopée
Des plus brillants exploits.
Et ta valeur, de foi trempée,
Protégera nos foyers et nos droits.
Protégera nos foyers et nos droits.

Yes, it feels Canadian to me. Even more so since there are those of us like Chad who find it bland, or want it to be more like what the Americans have.

Even though I'm an American, the Canadian anthem holds a special place in my heart.
...but that's mainly because the Summer camp I went to used the melody and most of the lyrics for their camp anthem.
We're the best bland. Nobody does bland like us.

Gruebeard disagrees with my Russel Peters quote! Oh the pain, oh the pain of it all! I, I, I may not hold the door for you at Tim Hortons!

Russia:

God damn. So GOOD!

I may be a bad patriot, but good lord, man. That's beyond the pale.
They did a GREAT job of it in The Hunt for Red October:

The whole scene with the leadup and all. I particularly like how they get "better" (more reverb, etc) once the Captain starts singing.

*ahem* Attention Canada. This is a birthmark on my knee. As you can see, it is shaped like the province of Prince Edward Island.

Therefore, I have proclaimed myself The Islander Chosen One.

I may have gone a little mad after making this proclamation (click on the date to see the whole Twitter chain).
