Minor victory thread

Right after I find a link on "Halloween candy you won't see this year," I get an email from Amazon touting British candy. Including the "banned" Toffee Crisp. So of course I have to order some just to see what the fuss is about, and to spite Hershey's. [emoji48]

I took my daughter and her friends out on one of my waterfall hunts. They were all super well behaved and hilarious. We had a really good time. They even said I could have Thor when we talked about cute guys.

Got up 30 minutes earlier than normal for work to do my workout. Going to try to continue that.

I'm waiting to see how long it takes to crush my spirit. :)

Minor nerd victory!! My Orion pictures have little baby nebulas in them!

I'm trying to copy a stacking technique from a website I follow and holy crap I didn't realise how little I knew about photoshop.

Everything is so dang interconnected now. I'm starting to feel my age. But this is not a whine.

I went to McDonalds today, because I got a free burger on their mobile app. McDonalds is running some sports-themed sweepstakes/contest. I got a 15% off coupon to the NFL store.

I'm not into sports, but I go to the site anyway, thinking I might find some christmas gifts. The site has a big banner proclaiming "15% off military discount." Wondering how the hell that would even work online, I clicked the banner and was directed to a website (id.me) that's a way that companies and other partners can verify your veteran status. And it's totally legit.

I was able to get my veteran status verified in a few minutes, and got a 10% military discount on some super-cheap polo shirts from the Hanes web store. There's a ton of sites (including dell, amazon, and other big retailers) that will take id.me credentials to give you a military discount.

It's kind of freaking cool.

I was just going to tell you about id.me because you were talking about online stuff I've been on there for a year or so. They also have one for teacher discounts too for all of the teachers here. isn't hat you, @Cajungal and @Squidleybits

So I kinda met someone today at an impromptu write-in at the library. Before I left for a meeting at the hospital today, I posted on the NanoWriMo forums that I was gonna go to Starbucks for the afternoon. One girl said she was already at the library and would be for awhile, if I wanted to join her. So I did.

She's really nerdy, too. She actually found a copy of Amazing Spider-Man #54 (or around that point) and got Stan Lee to sign it. Of the four hours we were there, I think we talked for at least half of it. Barely got any writing done (about 1,000 words). Totally worth it. When we were leaving, I asked if she planned on coming in again tomorrow or another time this week. She said she might. As I was trying to find one of my business cards (with my phone number), she asked if I used Facebook and added me, instead.

I'm...kinda smitten and would very much like to see her again. Not getting my hopes up or anything, believe me.
