[Webcomic] Webcomic Appreciation Jamboree

And suddenly this afternoon, the Questionable Content forums went down.
Did Jeph really think his forum could handle the fangirl squeexplosion caused by 3 straight comics of Marten and Claire gettin' it on? I'd have thrown in a depressing Faye interlude in there this time, and save today's for next time. Gotta space out your fanservice!

No.

The exact same thing that happened to their forums is what's happened to us when we add a "like" button. One of the uber-mods had added a "like" button to the forum, and apparently after making a change it borked the forums.

It had absolutely nothing to do with the current storyline.

Am I the only one in the world that seems to have a (maybe false) memory of Claire being trans/pre-op ....? I'm just not sure if there is a major story line here that is upcoming/past/ignored/or...what?ed and....
Nope, it's definitely known she's trans. Pre/Post isn't specified. I think, however, only Marten and Claire's brother know. She told Marten early on, and his opinion was "whatever, this feels right so far, let's roll with it."[DOUBLEPOST=1423840306,1423839949][/DOUBLEPOST]Hah, everybody's always going on about "what happens if superman bangs a normal chick," I'd not thought about "well what if supergirl tried to do a normal dude" until Jago came along...

Trans yes, pre/post op, we'll never know. Jeph's said on multiple occasions now that he'll never make that public knowledge.

Yeah, basically Marten said, "Look, I like you, I'm pretty sure you like me, let's just go with it and see what happens" instead of being weird about her being trans.

Ok, I'm not the only one who remembers, or rather, I didn't imagine the whole thing (which would be a rather strange mis-memory I admit). But ignoring that big of a story line, which I feel Jeph would be be able to pull off with class, seems almost like a ret-con kinda nah, didn't happen or let's just forget about that thing.... which just doesn't sit with me well. Just the kinda details guy I am.

I'm not sure what you mean. What's being ignored? What's a big story?

I think it confused him that there wasn't a "crying game" moment and nobody was making a big deal about it.

Which is exactly the sort of sentiment that was apparently getting people "disappeared" from the QC forum.
That's really stupid, since the characters literally said they weren't going to treat it as a big deal. Assuming that it would, in fact, be a big deal, is kind of missing the entire point.

EffTeeEffWhy.
XKCD, Skin-Horse,....Plenty of webcomics that have never been late. XKCD has missed, IIRC, one update in its run. Skin Horse has missed zero (though there was a few weeks of fill-in by another artist when she was, y'know, having a baby, but even that didn't stop the story from going forward).
There's a lot of webcomics out there with trouble sticking to their schedule or no schedule at all. but... #notallwebcomics. :p

I have WAY too many bookmarks, bookmarks for comics I KNOW ain't updating, bookmarks for comics I hate, comics whose authors I'd curse with voodoo dolls if I had enough corn husks, but I don't because I don't have corn that often. And what, I'm just gonna buy the corn for the husks? I mean I like corn, but enough to curse everyone I wanna curse? Don't think so.

You can usually find them by the trashcan full at your local grocery store when corn is in season. They usually leave a bin near the corn for shopping shuckers to leave all their husks behind, and I assume they'd be happy to donate plenty to you...so long as you don't tell them what it's for.

That is good news for me, because either way I want to pursue this hobby whether it works or not. And I hardly tell my family of my occult hobbies, I ain't tellin' strangers.

My mom's the same way. She's on her phone/tablet pretty much all day after work, but then as soon as my brother or I turn on a system we're playing games too often and should go do something else.
