Video Game News and Miscellany

After Dead Rising 2, I couldn't care anymore.
I actually liked Dead Rising 2. It improved in the areas I wanted it to, gave us co-op so I could play with my friends, and I liked Chuck a hell of a lot more than Frank. I seriously had no problem with it.

I never really played the second game. The save system in the first game was AIDS and nearly ruined the game for me as fun as it was.

Worth my time (Dead Rising 2)?
Dead Rising 2 is mostly an improvement.

- Survivor AI is no longer suicidal.
- Combo Weapons are fun and useful, though one of them is almost as good as the small chainsaw from the first game.
- The environment is a bit more varied, as it's in a mall connected to 3 casinos.
- Psychos are better.
- The story isn't as good, but I'd say it has better characters. I liked Chuck and his daughter and the safe house folks are a lot more interesting than the guys from the last game.
- Just less broken overall.

If you want a more serious story, get Dead Rising 2. However, Dead Rising 2: Off The Record is a remake/re-imagining of the game with Frank West as the star instead of Chuck. It's mostly the same story but it goes into weird places at points. This version also has some more improvements of DR2.

- Radio calls are all voiced. No more reading while running from zombies.
- A new area of the mall: Uranus Zone. It's a theme park!
- More weapons, items, clothes, and combo weapons.
- New boss fights, including 2 new psychos.
- You don't need to wear the full set of a special costume to get it's special bonus. This means you can break the game HARD if you are okay with wearing a fucking clown suit.

If this doesn't seduce you, well, I don't wanna know you.
I don't play mobile games, I'm not really a fan of boats, I don't play multiplayer, and I have a huge backlog of games....But damn if that ad doesn't make me want ot buy whatever it is they sell.

See? Marketing can work when done right!

So, Rainmaker (the former Mainframe, of Beast Wars and Reboot fame) is making a Ratchet and Clank movie.

That's weird.

Crossing my eyes makes me see it three times. Looking past it makes it blurry and gives me even more of a headache. I think I'll pass just yet :p

You should see three of them, but the one in the middle will be the one in focus and in 3D
Yeah but the wrong data will be in each eye if you cross your eyes... so it will look like things are getting farther away when they're getting closer.

If you can master the trick of looking "past" them while keeping in focus on the middle one, it works pretty well.

Well, when I originally said crossing eyes, I only used that because I thought it was funnier than "unfocus until you can bring the two pictures together like in a magic eye"

... and calling ZombiU a "killer app" is a huge stretch.
It's probably the best game on the system that actually uses the tablet for something useful and compelling. That being said, if you don't want to bash in the heads of zombies, your kinda shit out of luck.

GameInformer is so slow with their reviews. I get the magazine for the preview stuff which is good, but reviews ... We just got the May issue, and the reviews cover stuff like Pokemon Mystery Dungeon 3Ds, Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, Bioshock Infinite--stuff that came out a month ago. Then there's Etrian Odyssey IV, with a release date of February 22, 2013. That's just shameful.

I love the disparity between score numbers and review content. God of War Ascension received an 8, a good score, and the whole review is bitching about how it's not that great. I believe the words, but the score is just for show. Ridiculous.

Yeah I've stopped caring about their reviews. The number hardly ever matches the review itself. I remember their Tales of Graces F was like a 7.5, and instead of talking about the sweet combat they spent the whole page bitching about the story.

Sonic fans are fucking disturbing. Good for Sega.
Yeah so are a chunk of all fandoms , but is it really fair to the normal fans who just wanted Sega to make a good fucking sequel to Sonic? Do we have to suffer just because the perverts of this franchise are more known than others?

Crapcom, Smega, Square Anus, what is with these companies? Is it like some global conspiracy to bankrupt themselves? Because you'd think so what with the countless idiotic decisions they make. Cancelling Megaman and Sonic, making the Final Fantasy games needlessly expensive, taking forever to translate games , it makes no damn sense!

They're choosing a new mascot for a show, not cancelling Sonic forever.

Sonic draws a very... niche fandom. A small part of that are people that like the games. A much larger are weirdo perverts that sooner or later show up in our internet misanthropy thread.

I like how -fans ruined Sonic when out of all the Sonic games created less than 20% were good/sold well.

The -fans- ruined it. Riiiiiiiiight.

Gotta admit. It's kinda funny to think that Sega would can Sonic because some 4-year old drew a shitty version of him.
