The nerd in me thinks the time travelling port-a-johns from Day of the Tentacle deserve to be on the shirt, too, but that might be too obscure and make the shirt too busy.

The Doctor time travels in a police box.

Bill and Ted time travel in a phone booth.

They got their vehicles mixed up.
I'd kind of surmised as much - well, wasn't sure about "time travel" for B&T but I figured it was their iconic vehicle or location. I thought perhaps the hand gestures were something extra but I guess not.

Nope, just expressions of confusion. Still, Excellent Adventure is worth seeing. Bogus Journey... ehhh.[DOUBLEPOST=1436385511,1436385412][/DOUBLEPOST]

That was my next idea. Part of me feels I should have the discipline to wait for the Blu Ray, part of me wants to die historic on the Fury Road.
I'm going tonight for my fourth and likely final theatrical viewing.
Expect the dvd release at the start of September. That's a long wait still.

How to Train Your Dragon 2: There was a lot to process here ... Really good movie. I think I lean more towards the first one, but still good.

I wish Stoick could've been around to see what Hiccup and Toothless did at the end. Also, loved Toothless growling down the evil alpha. Drago and Alpha had no idea what Toothless has done to giant dragons in the past. This was not his first time to the rodeo.

I'm hoping that's it for Drago, that we won't see him back if they do a third movie, but I noticed Hiccup scanning the horizon. I'd just rather he drowned; he really wasn't that interesting of a character.

Minions

Nice, unoffensive little movie. Takes no risks, breaks no new ground, and delivers cheap laughs if your inner child is looking for that kind of thing.

Magic Mike XXL

I got drunk with some friends, then watched well-built men dance around while dealing with their own personal crises. Also, Channing Tatum's teeth bother me a lot.

Minions

As expected, it was difficult for the Minions to support a movie on their own. One thing the trailer doesn't make clear is that this movie focuses on 3 minions, with the rest being left behind for plot reasons. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. Bullock did a very good job, and there were definitely very funny moments. I'm also amazed at how much animation improves every year, and Illusion is definitely a competent animation house. I'd recommend it, but you won't lose anything by waiting for video release.

Went and saw an advance screening of Ant-Man last night. It was fun. Not the most amazing movie ever, but that's okay. I will say out of all the Marvel movies so far this one actually felt the most like it was part of the same universe as the others. Surprising because it never once felt forced, like with the Infinity Gems, or Iron Man 2. Rather they took advantage of their TV stars and B-players to flesh things out. It reminded me of a lot of Bronze Age Marvel comics where you would get marvel characters popping into and out of each other's books for a panel or two. I'm still trying to decide if I liked the villain. He was cartoonishly super-evil, and I'm trying to decide if it worked.

First post credit scene was fun, needed to happen, the second one is pretty incomprehensible.

Ant-Man

Well, that was a pleasant surprise. I admit my expectations had been a bit low from some of the ads and Edgar Wright leaving the project, but it turned out well. It's not among the great Marvel films, but it was an enjoyable ride. It had some good humor and it really worked when it played with the size-changing elements of the Pym Particles. It's also a pleasant surprise how well ingrained into the MCU this film is, not only in terms of content in the story but also how it serves as a nice breather with a smaller-scale threat between all of the big stuff that has been going down in recent films. Over all, I recommend giving it a shot.

WITNESS ME! WITNESS ME!!!!

Holy hell, that was awesome. Ridiculously over the top and so fun throughout the whole thing. It was a super basic story of "That's mine! Give it back!" "No!" that was just a vehicle for the action. Plus, I can see where the arguments come from regarding a feminist take on the movie. At the very least, I think it could lead to some interest critiques on the matter.

Really regret not seeing this sooner, but glad I finally did before it leaves theatres.

Earth to Echo

I regret not seeing this in the theater. My wife saw it with my kids and gave it a mediocre review, but I disagree. I loved it. This is exactly the kind of movie I miss. A kids' adventure film in the vein of Goonies (which it liked so much it borrowed the basic premise of) or Explorers or The Quest. That's one of my favorite genres. I'd give it a good 4 out of 5, with the downvote being for the lack of resolution or followup at the end.

Explorers had a big impact on me too, but you and I are the same age so that's to be expected. I bet you cried at E.T. and had a crush on Vanna White too.

Very much enjoyed Ant-Man, but I was kind of irritated how they shot down Hope at every opportunity in the film. Paul Rudd is, as ever, the world's most likable actor.

The mid credits sequence was SORELY fucking needed, but honestly, could have happened sooner in the film and had her in costume. I don't loathe Evangeline Lily either unlike seemingly half the internet, so I would've definitely loved to see some Wasp in the film....other than the unseen Janet "death"

My one MASSIVE, GIGANTIC, MOVIE RUINING NITPICK is if she's going to show someone how to punch, someone should have taught her how to do something other than that sad looking arm punch because that is not how you punch. On the topic of punches.

Michael Pena knocking out fools left, right and center with the slightest of jabs referring all the back to the beginning of the film where he said he was the only guy to knock out the big dude in prison was the best mostly unspoken running gag.

All in all, it's kind of what I want out of a summer super hero film. Save the dour shit for all the Batmans DC can turn their entire roster into I guess.

Tangled

Watched this on the flight to Japan. Not bad. Quite funny in a few places, and Mother Gothel's psychological abuse was pretty disturbing for a Disney movie.

Still think Frozen was better though. For one thing, Frozen's songs were more memorable.

"BEST DAY EVER!!!!" >>>>> "Let it go."

Frozen's songs are marginally better, basically because of Medina. But the characters in Tangled are better. I do think that manic episode after Rapunzel gets out of the tower is pretty funny too.

Reasonable adult me: I bet a wave of disagreement will change bhamv's feelings. I'm sure we've all disagreed with bhamv at one time or another about a movie's quality, but we don't have to Charlie this.

Tangled enthusiast whose opinion of Frozen went from "okay" to "fucking hate it" over the course of it never going the hell away:

For one thing, Frozen's songs were more memorable.

"Let It Go" is more memorable because it just kept getting played and covered and sung at random in the streets, on and on, so you could never be allowed to forget it, like any other pop song that demands to be significant for its year, so it can't be allowed to fade until you're sick to death of it.

Both reprise songs in Tangled were delicious icing on the cake of the songs themselves. The "best day ever!" reprise of "When Will My Life Begin?" turns the usual I want song into an "I got" song and it's so gratifying. Then the movie takes the sort of silly villain song "Mother Knows Best" which has underpinnings of psychological abuse, and turns it blatantly dark with outright manipulative qualities, color, even the instruments take a negative turn. I love how Gothel belts out "I won't say I TOLD YOU SO."

I feel bad every time I've read someone saying Mother Gothel reminds them of their own mother or a friend/significant other's mother.

I could hum every Frozen song after watching the movie once. Apart from possibly the ice cutting song at the beginning. Right now, though, I'm struggling to remember the melody of any Tangled song.

Oh wait, I Can See the Light just came to me.

Anywho, I would never claim that Tangled's a bad movie. I liked it a lot. I'd say it's probably funnier than Frozen (any scene with Flynn and Maximus together is automatically awesome), and it has a much better villain. But Frozen's songs were more memorable, and I rather liked its overall story better. Both are great, but on the whole I prefer Frozen.

they clearly tried to market her sexiness a few times, long shots of her porn style, at some point, lying sexily on the floor where the big dinos faught with a lifted skirt, oiled dirty legs and heels.... seriously... running from dinos for hours in heels?

GTFO.
