Welp, looks like I'm going to have to play a Nord barbarian type character. The promo materials have made it seem too badass to pursue any other option.

After thinking about it awhile, I have decided against buying Skyrim at launch. It will still be there waiting when the glitter of TOR wears off (and probably a good bit cheaper). I love TES series, but my focus is now on my next MMOdiction.

I'm still not sure if I'm going to wait or not. Depends on if I need to upgrade my processor for TOR. I SHOULD be getting a new videocard soon from my brother, as he's upgrading.

Minimum specs for it aren't a lot, hell, even the recommended specs are pretty easy to make for most gaming pcs in the last 2-3 years.

Yes... unfortunately, my computer is a junker. If I had steady employment I'd get it upgraded but unfortunately I live in Ohio, where there is no such thing anymore.

I want this game so alarmingly bad... I just wish I had a time machine, so I could be playing it RIGHT NOW.

I'd get it on launch, but I won't have time to play it. I seem to be struggling to find time for New Vegas right now. No point in buying a new game I can't play.

I can't wait for this game. I am really looking forward to running some good 18 hour sessions on it with my Rogue/Stealth/Magician guy that I always roll up.

....and then subsequently replace with a warrior who smashes everything without thought because the soft dudes are too hard to play.

Man, I really need to play Oblivion. It's sitting in my Steam games list, just waiting to be played.

I suppose by the time I'm done with Oblivion, there'll be a Skyrim GOTY edition out and probably for a discount.

It was actually pretty easy to be a thief in Oblivion, if you used a bow. That ability to knockdown foes makes the game trivial.
My problem was that, later in the game, you couldn't 1 shot the guys (draneii/demons/daedra/weird fire dudes) with stealth arrows, and in a standup fight they were brutally difficult to kill with the little thief. Compared to like the Orc warrior I rolled who would just walk through the place like a tank and beat down everything without concern.

Thiefs were hard to run, although they were tons more rewarding/interesting.

Yeah, but you don't NEED to one shot them if you train up your Bow with trainers. Then your arrows will knock them down/paralyze them fairly often, making them easy to beat. Honestly, I beat the game with nothing but the bow.

Anywhere but Sanity.
As much as I go on and on about Orc Female Melee, I will say that I had alot of fun with "Witch" characters.

Charm/Frenzy + the ability to go invisible for long periods of time ensure that if I didn't want to get my hands dirty, I didn't have to. Simply charm a target in the middle of a large group, let them kill each other, continue charming till there's only one left, finish off the Low Hp target.

Though unfortunately the build suffered from not much damage mitigation or damage dealing, I found singular "boss" fights to be difficult till I raised my summoning skill.

I never really liked Summoning... it would be great if you could summon like 3-4 skeletons, but a single pet? In the end game the summons are like tissue paper (except Morrowind, were you got Golden Saints).

Trying to remember my Witch's build that made it worth using, since she didn't have any real source of damge dealing:

Illusion Magic - For Charm/Command and Invisibility (for wiping out entire groups) as well as extended Paralyze spells that allowed the summoned creature to do it's damage. (on the left over weak targets/single bosses)
Alteration - For sheild spells, both for my pet and if for whatever reason I actually had something come after me.
Conjuration - For when I needed to finish off the last weak member of a group or single boss fights.
Mysticism - For Reflect Shields. High mana costs but used at the right time, made all the difference in a hard fight. as well as dispelling any kind of buff the boss has.

That's all I can remember off the top of my head. I basically made the "Witch" as a challenging character to make the game harder as my Orc Female melee just mowed the entire game down.

If I could summon a buttload of skeletons, I would play that. I love Necromancer type roles.

I'm extremely thrifty (cheep) with my video games. I think the only games I have paid full retail for in the last 10 years are GTA:SA, Oblivion (which I have since bought again off of steam to get the full GOTY edition), GTA 4, and Age of Warhammer or whatever that MMO was called. I have barely touched GTA 4 and I stopped playing Age of Warhammer after like a month and a half. TOR will be my game of the year (to pay full price for).

I will be eagerly watching for reviews of Skyrim though.

Looks like I'm gonna have to buy this for 360... not because my computer won't be able to run it soon, but because my HD is barely going to have enough room for ToR when it comes out. I have to make room for 51 gigs. That's basically my entire Steam folder. So I'll just get a copy for the PC on the cheap whenever I upgrade my HD.

YAY! Bretons and Bosmer don't look stupid anymore. I may actually play one now.

Can I just say I hate the Orc Female face? Seriously. Looks like a Green Elf with tattoos and upside down vampire teeth. Ugh.

Where are my brutish Orc women at?
You can probably fill out the face more and give it a harder jaw line via the face manipulator like you could in Oblivion.
