Gravity is beautiful. Sound direction, cinematography, never felt the 3D was forced and it's absolutely a movie to see on the big screen for the visuals and scale.

It does get very loud at parts, then punctuated by absolute silence, so take caution if you have sensitive ears.

To each their own. Again, I don't care for her one way or another but I do think you'd be remiss passing Gravity off as another Heat or Miss Congeniality. I would put it closer to Moon than either of those and if nothing else, the movie is worth watching just for the visuals and sound design if you're at all interested in space.

It's like they say, an actor can change an entire film, for the better or for the worse. Unfortunately, for me, she's the latter.

Is Gravity a good film? I'm not dismissing that at all. Will she ruin it for me personally because just seeing her on film irks me? Most likely. It's happened every time before.

Demolition Man is awesome.
Her appearance in it diminishes it.
I did not enjoy the movie the way it could have been enjoyed with different casting.
My opinion is fine.

I finally saw Moon last night. I don't remember the last time I saw an honest to god, Sci-Fi Film.

I am proud that the director overcame being named Zowie Bowie. So does that make Moon a space oddity?

To me? Nothing.

I just find her vapid, one dimensional, wooden, and all around comes off as if she's talented when she's not.

She's like a female Hayden Christensen that somehow keeps getting roles.

Yeah, I haven't seen him in anything other than Star Wars and Shattered Glass but I think it's safe to say that like many of Lucas' actors he's actually quite good but Lucas finds a way to destroy any opportunity for good acting.

Oh trust me, I used to hate him to. But then I saw him in a real movie and discovered he's actually pretty damn good.

Now I just hate George Lucas.

He was good in Life as a House, but Star Wars pretty much torpedoed any acting career he could ever hope to accomplish since, while not entirely terrible, he's not great actor or anything.

Also, he was in Are You Afraid of the Dark, so he's better than all of you.

Slight spoilers ahead
There is one major problem I have with this, after a movie like the avengers. Where the fuck were the other heroes? Some being missing I can understand. Thor's probably off world in Asgard, Banner's probably in some rainforest, but the President of the United States is KIDNAPPED BY TERRORISTS and Captain America is no where to be found? That's right up his alley. Or at least someone from S.H.I.E.L.D. Did everyone else just assume that Tony Stark could handle this, no need to lend a hand?

My guess?

IM3 takes place concurrently with CA2, and Cap is on the other side of the world fighting the Winter Soldier

SHIELD could have at least sent Hawkeye. Maybe Black Widow is busy on some espionage mission, but you know Hawkeye is just sitting on the helecarrier, feeling like that 5th string kicker that still got a superbowl ring.

But how many issues of say "Iron Man" or whichever series dealt with a Super Hero single handedly dealing with a threat that should have been everyone's problem? Both Marvel and DC Universes have the flaw of there are just too many damn Super Heroes in the world. Every comic/movie should realistically be about as hero heavy as logging into Champions Online. If not then you just will always have to ask "Why the hell isn't Tony Stark beating the shit out of Lizard right now? His tower is right fucking there."

Jarvis: Sir, There is a matter that requires your attention. A giant Lizard has ripped it's way into your armory."
Tony Stark: Having sex with Pepper right now, Jarvis. Hack that spider-person's phone and text him with the Lizard's location and evil plot.

I think they tried to address this when Tony asked Rhodey if they needed his help tracking down the Mandarin, and Rhodey said this is a job for the US government. The War Machine Iron Patriot is explicitly an agent of the US government, while the Avengers are an international (or even interplanetary) organization. It'd be akin to the US calling in the United Nations to help deal with a terrorist threat that had, up to now, only ever attacked domestic targets in the American homeland.

Stark gets involved because of what happened to Happy. It became personal for him. Otherwise he probably would've let Rhodes handle it.
