Been listening to the Portal 2 soundtrack at work. I want to ... I want to do tests!
It's back up for me now. And yes, from the friends that I have who either currently work there or used to work there, they lose millions of dollars per hour of outage, and tens to hundreds of millions per hour during Black Friday and Cyber Monday.[DOUBLEPOST=1359664753][/DOUBLEPOST]
It's gone down before from sheer volume. I can't really go into details about which parts of their service are most vulnerable, but certain parts of their service, which are essential to all of the site, are more vulnerable than others and could be taken down with a well directed attack on the right location (and have occasionally been taken down due to poor planning, poor execution, poor communication, abject stupidity, and just plain over-eager shoppers).
no worries my best friend is a network engineer and is filling me in on whats going on, its kind of amazing to be honest.

I've been spending the last week or so trying to explain to my wife what a proper Northern Midwest winter is like, as we're most likely going to be moving to Minnesota instead of Louisville. I still don't think she really grasps what a dry, cold wind feels like when it's 0F outside with a windchill of -20 or so, and I hope she doesn't come to regret the decision too much. I, on the other hand, can't fucking wait.
It must've been a very sworded affair to get that done.

Some people are distressingly confusing.
With the exception of number 1, I owned all of those games, and beat most of them. They were all excellent!
Though really, Donkey Kong Country wasn't really that hard.

If she wants to know, have her put her hand inside the freezer of your fridge for about 10 minutes. Tell her to multiply that by 1,000, and you get Minnesota/Northern Wisconsin winters.

I'm 75-80% sure that one of the kids I teach will one day (not really soon, but someday) attempt to kill or at least horribly injure someone unless something changes dramatically. I love him, and he behaves in my class, but he scares me sometimes. It's being looked into by professionals, and he's aware of his issues. God, I think of him every day and hope that he gets well. He has many wonderful qualities... Just please let him be well one day.
I feel for you, my wife teaches middle school and literally has students who already sell drugs. Others who flat out say they're not going to bother with High School because they're going to work in their dad's auto-mechanic shop. As well as many other stories that just leave you with a feeling of pointless-ness.
Just get her a remote starter for her car, and it won't be too bad.
That's what made it tough to me, like they mentioned on the jumping especially. That archaic Ninja Gaiden-style knockback when you get hit has always been bullshit.
Personally I don't get how anything tops Ghouls 'n' Ghosts. Some of those games were just hard thanks to bad controls or execution, GnG was pure Hell in a cartridge. I'd even put Demon's Crest, the spinoff sidescroller, in that top 10 and knock DK Country out of there.
Oh don't get me wrong, it's a great game. It's nowhere near as hard as these guys make it out to be, though.
On the one hand, at least the kids who are going to work in an auto-mechanic shop are learning a trade skill.
On the other hand, at least go to high school, man...
And Ceej's kid reminds me of a kid in a blog post about mental illness, soon after the Sandy Hook shootings. I remember that blog post because the kid reminded me of me as a wee lad, and by extension Ceej's kid reminds me of me too.
No, it really isn't. It's inclusion baffled me.
