Whine like a baby, now with 500% more drama!

Wholly Crap, I had a cramp in my calf that felt like a heart attack. It was not my whole calf either. It was just a spot that was about the size of an old fashioned half dollar. It was weird because that spot sunk down about half an inch, stayed that way for about a minute then started throbbing in and out for another 3 minutes. And finally subsided completely, except it was just sore for the rest of the day. I could hardly put my foot on the ground until Sunday Morning.

Today I learned an important lesson. If you're cooking with open pots of boiling water, wear a shirt. No matter how warm it is in the house, boiling water is warmer.

FTFY

Boiling water hurts. Splattered hot oil hurts a lot. Boiling sugar (jam, jelly, apple butter, caramel) hurts a lot and can be difficult to get off, so it keeps on burning.

If only there was some sort of cloth kitchenwear that you could don to protect only your exposed front, thus leaving your back bare to the cool breeze.

I was going to give you hell about using a rice cooker. Then I remembered that all my Asian friends had them too.[DOUBLEPOST=1342017637][/DOUBLEPOST]Because it is a uni-tasker... use a pot.
Uni-tasker my butt. Mine does white rice, brown rice, porridge, oatmeal, and even cake. AND it keeps the leftover rice warm for when I want to snack on it a few hours later. :p

This happens to me all the time when I sleep. If I stretch my legs or something a spot on my calf just tightens up. If I reach down and touch it it feels about egg sized. I'm usually more than half asleep when it happens so it makes me think I'm dying or something until I remember that I have to stop drawing the afflicted leg up to my chest and stretch through it.

It is the WORST.

Muscle infection in my lower back; was having pain and surviving on painkillers for three days (good friends' wedding, baptism of my girlfriend's godchild, birthday of my best friend), went to work and realised sitting up straight on a desk chair for 12 hours? Not really an option.

Oh well, week off from work from the doctor, and loooooots of painkillers and anti-inflammants and whathaveyou. Blegh.

Muscle... infection? How does one get an infected muscle? That sounds absolutely horrifying.

Right now a local business is looking for photographers, models and artist to work on their calendar. The pay? Nothing. You get a free copy of the calendar and your name/website in the calendar.

This annoys me. Friends and family and even strangers are always asking for freebie drawings or paintings from me. Sometimes I am HAPPY to oblige...or maybe trade for something. However, it seems most people thing that if you are an 'art' type you should be grateful for ANY kind of exposure.

Hey! How about you give me a free outfit, local business! I'll be sure to tell everyone where I got it...if they notice or ask about it. I'm sure it will be great! No? Why are you complaining! You're a new business that not many have heard of! You should be GRATEFUL for any kind of exposure!

Ugh.

My brother the professional photographer agrees with you. Man, it is hard to get him to quit complaining about Friends and Family asking for free work all the time... while he is calling me to drive 80 miles to fix his computer.

A lot of people don't realise this is work that deserves pay. It's a sad disconnect. Potentially you can help educate the business by directing them to this site: http://www.no-spec.com/

It's an informational/support/activist site against what they call 'spec' (short for 'speculative') work.

Ok personal trainers heres a message for you: When my arms are falling out from under me when I'm trying to plank don't say "you just gotta fight through the pain." I physically can not do this anymore. Time to go onto a new exercise. No amount of yelling and shaming is going to make a difference. All you are doing is making me not want to go to the gym ever again.

I'm kind of bummed about things. After Chaz's banning (I'm not debating the merit of that part, it's just one of the catalysts) it seems like most of the people that wanted Chaz gone all but up and left themselves. The forum has very recently gotten a lot emptier. I have no solutions for this, just feeling bummed out about it.

Chaz, JCM, Calleja, Tinwhistler, Shego, Sera - a lot of the people who fell outside of the set boundaries have left or been driven away. Some extremes (Gas, Charlie) remain but aren't taken seriously. The forum is poorer for becoming more hiveminded and less diverse.

No solutions here, but I've felt this too.

... I've seen Sera posting in the last 24 hours. JCM's been gone a long time and I don't know if he was "driven." Seems to me sometimes it's just people's time to go. Did you expect we'd all be posting in this forum in 10 years? 20? The social paradigm is moving on beyond niche forums, much like it did past IRC and HTML chatrooms. With every website incorporating facebook or disqus or twitter, seems like the internet's becoming one big forum where everybody just shouts into the darkness, drowned out by the crowd.

I miss Calleja despite his being a catalyst for bad jokes. By which I mean he makes them and other people make them when he's around.

  • I'm aware Sera isn't gone - but she's been far more inactive than normal. I didn't say anyone was driven away, I said people were driven or left. If I write that Sera, Shego, LittleSin and Cajungal are all men or women, I'm speaking the truth, even if, in this case, none of them happens to be a man. Yes?
  • I didn't mean to imply all of them got together and left, all for the same reason, right after Chaz left. Not at all. They're all interesting people with an opinion of their own that've been less active/gone for a while now, and it's diminished this forum.
  • I didn't say this wasn't the natural progression of things. I'm perfectly capable of beign sad that my grandmother died; this doesn't mean I thought she'd be around forever.

In other news, I'm EXTREME!!! Guess I better get fitted for anime-eyes and all kinds of pointy bladed fashion accessories.

*sigh*

I did not say you're Extreme to the Max, yo. If you're going to claim your political opinions are moderate and centrist, I don't know what to say. Yes, I'm aware there are far, far, far more extreme idiots than you out there. I didn't mean it as an insult. If you want to take it that way and be argumentative for the sake of being argumentative,, go right ahead.

Wait...I don't I understand where I fit in here.

I'm a girl, I guess?
Woman. I know some people don't make that distinction, I do. And yes, I'm pretty sure you are. That, or you've been deceiving us for quite some time, now. You are otherwise completely unrelated to the topic at hand. It was an example. I was pointing out that Gas was making an unfounded assumption based on what I wrote.

Don't bother me, I'm powering up for my ultimate attack. It will take 9 episodes of me yelling.
