[NHL] 2011-2012 Season is Over (Kings take the Cup)

The only head coaching job in the NHL that comes close to being worse than the TML job is that of le Blanc, Bleu et Rouge.

Were I Vancouver, I'd probably have kept with him myself. The team's lack of a cup is not exactly a strong indicator of the team's performance. I mean last year they went to the finals, this year yes they took an early exit but they also completely DOMINATED in regular season, so to me, looking at those credentials and who else is even a possibility, I'd probably have gone with him as well.

Speaking as an outsider though, I do not approve of the style he preaches, at least assuming that it's him who's telling them to stay down on the ice, go down easy, and do whatever they can to draw penalties. It's certainly effective, but I feel like they take it too far. (Granted I'm looking at is as a Toronto fan, and I'm sure there are fans of other teams who'd make the same claim against Toronto).

I would like to see different guys running the special teams myself but for the most part I think Vigneault has done a great job with the team. I disagree that he coaches them to dive. I'm not saying they're perfect but I do think the reputation they have is exaggerated. It's all good though, I'm sure when Toronto starts having some success people will dismiss them as being trappers, divers, or goons.

Your basic premise is faulty.

Yeah, like I said, I recognize that I'm viewing it as an outisder with a bias and there's a margin of error that comes with that. I think every team likely has one or two (or three) players like that. Not sure who it'd be on the Leafs, but I'm sure we've got at least one and I've just got homer goggles thick enough I don't see it.

(ignores the obviously inside TML fanbase joke)

So - game six tonight. Devils clinch it and wait for the Kings to show up at the Rock? Or do we go back to MSG for another game seven for the Rags?

And there we go.

Devils vs. Kings for the Cup.

I'll take... Devils in six.

Oh, and one OT, with Brodeur getting the Connie.

Kings in 5 2 OT

Kopitar Conn Smythe

But I have a huge soft spot for Brodeur retiring with the cup and conn smythe.

I was going to say kings in 6 with 1 OT but Piotyr already made that prediction, so I'll say Kings in 6 with 2OT instead.

Not as sure about Brown getting the Conn Smythe as I was. He hasn't produced as much as of late other than a questionable hit and a possible dive.

I'm going to go with Brodeur. Bet on politics.

No image today. It's my sister's baby shower so, social duties call.

Every time I think the devils have no chance they surprise me so I'll assume they have more fight in them and say Kings in 7, 2 OT. I'll stick with Brown for Conn Smythe, but I do like the brodeur pick by checkerdhat. They really do like giving the trophy to goalies who lose in the finals don't they?

Devils in 7 2OT Brodeur gets the conn smythe, I get pissed at all the idiots who say this definitely means brodeur is better than hasek.

Edit: unless this works out
