tmm in the console toggles all map markers. Now, I've never used this before so I don't know what effect it really has. Will they all be available for fast travel or do they just show up? In other words, do you have to discover them or not? And note if you do this again to turn it off it may get rid of ALL your markers, discovered or not. I'll do it tonight on my guy and see what it all does.

Cool. By and large, I'm fine with having to find everything on my own. I'd just like to know at the end of the game, when I'm retiring to my underground fortress/basement network, with all of my full weapon racks and mannequins and my chests full of treasure, that I've been everywhere there is to be and seen everything there is to see.

WHY in the name of ALL SENSE COMMON do stones of barenziah NOT STACK?
You know what's even more ridiculous? I have two stacks of them in my inventory. Five of them stacked and one of them did not. The difference? The five-stack were originally "unknown gems" before I had them appraised by Vex; the single item is the only one I've picked up since having the originals appraised. I imagine that when I get done I'll have 19 individual stones and my stack of 5. It also annoys me that I have to carry around up to 11.5 weight-units of the damn things before I can get the last stone and turn them all in, or whatever happens when you collect them all; and can't take them out of my inventory like you can if you're trying to collect multiple reagents for someone.

If you do the tmm command you're screwing yourself. Don't do it.

And there's a mod in the Workshop that allows you to store the stones....

That's what I get for getting the first stone appraised immediately. I'm deathly afraid I'm going to miss one somewhere and have 23 of these things FOREVER.

Yeah, I'm somewhat certain that this is going to be the one quest that I don't finish, that isn't a repeatable bounty quest or the never-ending Listener quests.

Heh, this and "mine ore to serve your sentence" in Markarth. My quest line got bugged and in order to do "No one escapes from Cidna mine" I had to get myself arrested for something else... and since I busted out with the Foresworn, I never mined the ore...

Markarth annoys me. That steward is the cheapest bastard in the game. 100 gold for killing the leader of a forsworn encampment, when the king in rags is in the same camp? Bitch, please.

Seriously though, I didn't even know that mining silver ore was actually an option if you got arrested for something else. I wonder if I could still do it... there's a few people I wouldn't mind taking out. Of course, there's no more ore in the mine now, since I'm pretty sure I mined it all on my first trip through, so it might be a little difficult.

Ore respawns periodically.

And I got that same "kill the leader" quest! And if I read your sentence correctly, you also got it AFTER the King in Rags escaped and arrived there! It was hilarious... when I showed up, all the foresworn were like "HEY! Buddy! Come on in! Have a seat! Have a drink! Boy, it's good to see you! Those were some times back in Cidna mine, weren't they?" And then I just stealth killed the target, said my cordial goodbyes and strolled out the front door like a boss.

Yeah, I didn't get the quest until after I'd broken out of the mine with them. It startled me because I stealthed my way into the cavern, but there were two guys standing there as soon as the game faded back in from the load screen, looking straight at me, who didn't aggro. I thought I was screwed. I didn't leave any of them alive though; the king (I forget his name) was asleep in his tent and I shot a bound arrow in his ass from stealth; so he is no more. Unfortunately, that doesn't mean that I got anything special from the Jarl - or that there aren't more of them out there waiting to cut my fool head off.

I left the king alive, because the "leader" for my quest was just some unnamed briarheart. My first clue they were friendly was when I rode up, and dismounted, and suddenly Shadowmere goes all apeshit on one and all the while he's screaming at me "I'm on your side! I'm on your side!"

Well, after that, I moved shadowmere farther away, and then just walked up to see what would happen. And they were all "Hey, sup?"

Yeah, my leader was an unnamed dude too, I just wanted revenge for the fact that I helped them break out of prison, didn't turn them in when I had the chance, and they still tried to kill me every chance they got. I helped Hadvar out of Helgen and even though I haven't been formally pardoned yet, the imperials don't keep trying to kill me any time I'm running around Castle Dour.

I decided just to be an utter bastard in Markarth. At the slightest provocation, I'd kill whoever I wanted, or take their stuff, or whatever. It didn't matter, I'm the goddamned Dragonborn, and you're all my bitches, so eat sword. Don't give a shit, y'all gonna get STORMCLOAKED anyway before too long.

I think that's what bugged that quest for me, because the guards couldn't deliver their lines for the quest because they were too busy telling me I had committed crimes against skyrim and her peoples, and asking me what I had to say for myself... which was invariably "FUS RO DAH!" Ended up having killed every killable hostile NPC in markarth (every guard, basically). To do the quest, I had to manually setstage it, then wait for them to hire more guards in a few days. I think my bounty was up around 48,000 gold.

Ever accidentally set off the storm shout in town? Oof.
I'd have found that hilarious. The first time I set off the storm shout to see what it did, it was just me and my horse out in the open.

"What's this shout do? KPOW Oh god what KPOW noo shadowmere! KPOW I'm sorry horsie I KPOW I know it hurts, here's some healing just KPOW tough it out, who's a good boy, who's KPOW a good horsie, that's right, don't KPOW die, gooooood healing, gooood horKPOWsie..."

I'M IN SKYRIIIM

I've been playing nonstop for days now, it's insane how this game plays with the passage of time. Skyrim is real life's "wait" command.

So I'm a Wood Elf archer thief/mage thing, at about level 20, with just Fus Ro so far but already a werewolf (I'M A WEREWOLF!)... any tips, things I should look for? Essential mods? I've been playing pretty much console-less and mod less to try the "vanilla" game for a while... but after losing my sweet (stolen) elven bow after paying the 5 gold fine for ANOTHER crime, I said screw it and have broken my console virginity with "setownership". I'm pretty good at sneaking now, provided I make sure to cast "Muffle" before hand.... but I think I'm screwing myself by not using a dagger sneak attack more, I only use the bow...

Eh, honestly I mainly use a bow while sneaking myself. Sure, I don't get the sweet 15x damage mod that I would using a dagger (still get the 3x damage mod for using the bow), but I can stealth one-shot NPCs from range. There are few pleasures greater than the detection eye starting to open, a bandit saying "I thought I heard something" and the twang of a bowstring followed by the eye rapidly snapping back shut. I only really use my daggers if I'm going for an assassination target or if I want to make a statement. As far as mods go, I'll leave that to Scythe. I only have 8 mods and he was upset that the Steam workshop could only handle 50 at a time before going bug nuts, so I'm guessing he has a lot more experience.

I am having a freaking hard time finding Daedric Arrows. So I don't feel like my bow is doing much. I've got it enchanted usually with sparks but without higher damage arrows (even Ebony are kind of meh) I'm just not doing much.

Daedric Arrows are a pain in the ass to find. And when you do there are so few that you end up hoarding them and not firing them off.

Hrm, dunno bout you guys but with dual enchants on a bow shooting glass arrows, I'm still pretty much one-shotting everything from Draugr Deathlord and below.

Well, I'm struggling to get my enchantment up but I think I need to dump my 3 skill points in to it so I can double enchant. That really makes that big of a difference huh?

Yes, it really does. It's the difference between having to carry several bows (a damage bow, a soultrap bow, a life stealing bow...) and only having to carry maybe two bows (Damage + Soultrap, Damage + Life Steal). 100 enchanting isn't necessary to complete the game, but I certainly wouldn't bother playing without it.

As for Daedric arrows... yes, they are a pain to get. You only get them from high ranked chests and even then it's only sometimes and in very small amounts. Just stick to Ebony and Glass. You can buy both of those in fairly large sums at the Archery shop in Whiterun.

At least Gared's doing his thing on purpose. Me, I can't seem to find the way to High Hrothgar. Even the damn quest menu tells me to go to Ivarstead when I toggle that quest as active.
When I started playing I got caught up trying to climb the side of the mountain, following the arrow, it will not work.

Stand at the Whiterun stables and look up at the mountain then take the road towards the mountain and take the road that hugs the north side of the mountain. Stop to read all the road signs and keep going for Ivarsted. Then when you get to Ivarsted, just take the thousand steps.

Finally got to Ivarstead. What I had thought to be a quick jaunt down the road ended up being a two-dungeon delve where I leveled twice, died at least three times and collected a three-figure amount of various herbs along the way. The real kicker was that once in Ivarstead I couldn't find anyone to buy all the heavy armor and weapons I had been lugging around. Goddammit :p

Yeah, I had that same experience my first time around. The fast travel system will be your friend. Don't worry about the passage of time, just once you reach ivarstead, fast-travel back to whiterun, sell your shit (sleeping if necessary) then fast travel back to ivarstead and continue. I know it seems to defy logic, but this is nothing compared to how the rest of the game is going to be.

Fast travel, so spoiled. Back in my day we had to pay to fast travel and that's IF the city had a silt strider in it! I still like Morrowind the best. It was the first game of it's kind to thrust me into what would seem like a completely alien world where Eurofantasy characters had settled. Going from the very familiar medieval towns like Pelagiad to the Telvanni architecture was quite a jarring change.

I know I'm late to the game (literally!) here, but I haven't seen a "what mods I use" thread for Skyrim, just the "mods you'd LIKE to see" one... any must have ones? I just got the NMM and started following this guy's tutorials: (His accent is awesome... his videos are awesome too)

Right now I have:
A Quality World Map
Better archery Eagle Eye Perk
Enhanced Distant Terrain EDT
Housecarls and Followers can wear zazz (I got this from the other thread, actually)
JAySuS swords (haven't run the game with it yet, but I'm worried my non-smithing char won't really benefit from them)
Realistic Water Textures and Terrain
SkyUI

I'm still just running vanilla right now. Though I did load up a nude mod just to see what it was like, then chuckled and uninstalled it. It was very... plastic. A lot of people complain about "egregious use of breast physics," but once you get used to them, non-jiggly boobs just look like painted armor.

Dude, SkyUI is a MUST HAVE, seriously, the vanilla UI is designed pretty much with consoles in mind, this puts PC back on top.. you can srot by weight, value, etc, it's really a "I can't believe it wasn't like this from the beginning" moment the first time you use it.

Having the roads on the map is also pretty useful.

SkyUI is cool. I have others but none that I can say off the top of my head right now. I can remember a few that make the game a lo harder like Tougher Traps and one that makes Dragons a real fucking challenge.

Oh, and the Dovahkiin Hideout. I love that mod. And Bag of Holding.

If it had come out before my inventory stopped being important, I probably would have gotten SkyUI. Now it doesn't matter, I rarely, if ever, pick up anything. I own every house, have a full suit of daedric and 70k+ gold somehow weightlessly upon my person. Pretty much the only thing I carry is a change of clothes to switch from melee to magic user, and I don't need to sort that.

For nvidia users, the new nvidia drivers that came out today (technically yesterday, as it's after midnight) are supposed to improve skyrim performance by 45%!
