"Old" Theme?

Can we get the default theme from the previous version of the forum software as an option to use?

I ask cause..the current one is hideous. I mean..its so bad I don't read the forums really anymore. The General section looks like a clusterfuck of New Post icons and overly large thread title text (compared to what it was previously)

please?

Which style do you use? HalBlue or HalDark? What screen resolution do you use?

The reason that I ask is that individual results may vary.

Look, we knew that some people would dislike the new stuff and that's nothing we can really help. If you think we did this just because we wanted to you are mistaken. We made the changes and Ame has put in a TON of hours getting the styles to work and look the way they do. I'm sorry you don't like them, but without knowing exactly how you are seeing this it's hard to say anything needs fixed.

And that's the issue Ame had talked about before with the icons. But nobody has stepped up and offered to help, so there they stand.

Probably because it's perfectly fine for 99.5% of us. Can't make everyone happy. The forum is hardly un-readable.

Oh, I'm not saying we can't jazz it up or make it look cooler, etc. I'm all for that. I'm just saying the forum is not "unreadable" as it is so in my list of "things that stress me out" the icon size would not be at the top of the heap.

Truth be told? It's distracting. The Gen forum is like a big ball of thread icons and larger text all crammed together, it looks vastly different to me than the VB3 default which was nice and sleek looking.

edit - can we get vb4 default at least? the darker blue is better, i think thats whats confusing my eyes, the halblue one is a bit too light blue

I feel like we are looking at really different forums. I'm not saying it's not that way for you but I just don't see it. It just looks like threads I can click on. What is your text size set at in the browser? Is it set on something larger? Mines very nice and tidy and not all that different from the previous forum?

The styles (both HalBlue and HalDark) are just fine. We're lucky Ame and Dave have been so accommodating of user suggestions on what to change, but I think people have used that leniency as an excuse to bitch and moan about stupid minor things that don't bother anyone else. Any such complaints on another forum would probably be met with a shrug and "get lost" from the admins and mods there.

You're right, but this just seems like such a minor nitpick. It is a size difference of mere pixels ffs! I'm not saying I wouldn't enjoy different topic icons, but you won't see me getting worked up about them ruining my forum experience.

I don't get you Mav... First you were complaining about things being large and now you want back the old theme which had huge post icons and made everything look gigantic. Will you ever be happy?

huh. 5 seconds after switching to HalDark I complained to Ame about the blue shades she had used. No one else might have ever complained about it, but I tell you what: It's way better now after she listened to my complaint. Not that I'm using the dark theme. I prefer to live in the light.

This is to say that Mav's complaint may indeed be shared by many people, or it might not. But if his requested change is made it might have a significant improvement. It might not, either. But to dismiss his complaint out of hand is stupid.

Not that it was dismissed out of hand. Ame went through quite a lot of effort analyzing his complaint, after all. And I think she'd listen to him and try the change if it wasn't such an enormous amount of work.

Oh sweet! I hadn't even noticed HalDark before. I love dark themes.

In fact I'm gonna go find me a Windows 7 dark theme.

EDIT: Found one!

And ZIP file attachments here seem to be restricted to 90-something KB. Just wondering why?
