Former President Trump Thread

Coups require military, so as long as enough still take their oath to the whole constitution thing seriously, you should be fine...

Fingers crossed i guess.

Well, most likely there is nothing to fear. And these legal maneuvers are just a way to rally the base for Georgia and to keep fundraising for cheeto to pocket. The latter is very likely as the RDC just laid off all the people who they would use in a recount campaign.

But it is not out of the immagination that cheeto is using the courts to delay certification. Uncertified votes then cause a giant shitstorm. He could pressure the GOP governors to appoint EC members to vote for him or argue that no EC can be chosen forcing the House to vote on who is President, wherein the 53 congress people of California would count the same as the 1 from Alaska and he would have enough GOP to get 26 votes for him. All of this going through the new and improved SC.

But really he is running out of lawyers. None of the firms that are competent enough to argue this want to be associated with it. It will be a bunch of correspondent drop outs from the Lionel Hutz mail in school of law stuff.

I am less worried about the military, and more worried about ICE, DEA, US Marshalls, local police, and every other law enforcement agency that sees Trump as either a) a fearless and powerful messiah, or b) their ticket to stopping all the justified criticism for how they treat their communities (especially minority communities). They have a serious problem with white supremacy, authoritarianism, and/or fascism in their ranks.

The son of a friend of mine is a game warden, and he voted for Trump because he says "it was a vote for the police community." They feel attacked and they think Trump is the only one to save them... and too many of them will do horrible things in the name of protecting "the police community."

It’s over for Trump. The court challenges are going nowhere, and are just time wasters. He’s collecting money from his base to pay off his debts at this point. He’s got bills coming due very soon.

My money is on him announcing a 2024 run on Inaguaration Day - partly to take attention away from Biden, and partly because he’ll feel confident that as an active candidate, the law will back off of him, lest they appear to be doing “Biden’s bidding.”

True.
Of course, now we get to see how much damage a sitting president can do in three months. Nobody in the Senate is going to stop him.

"haha, they're just humoring Trump. They'll hand over power when the time comes. The law says they have to!"

I'm going to need more reassurance than that, because this really looks like they're planning a coup.

You know, between his general obescity and poor eating habits, not to mention having Covid and no longer having a team of doctors dedicated to keeping you alive without paying $$$ out-of-pocket, I wonder if Trump will even be alive by 2024.

Was there some kind of call on those right-wing social media platforms to do the Trump Flag Parading again today? Because there sure were a lot out there today.

I’m starting to feel that this is not a coup. Everything this goon squad does - everything - is always designed to hide something else. So now all of the sudden they’re out in the open like this?

My money is on them using this time and delaying Biden’s transition in order to destroy evidence. There were a number of arms deals brokered by Kushner that are likely illegal. We will probably never know where the half trillion dollars from the stimulus went now. They’re also probably destroying records that show Trump’s people intentionally plotted to harm blue states during the pandemic by seizing PPE deliveries. There’s also the shit that went down at the post office.

It’s what criminals do when the jig is up. They try to destroy evidence. Actually, that might explain why Trump needs to flush 10-15 times. Biden will be sworn in, but a lot of evidence needed to hold this corrupt regime will have disappeared. That is the likely endgame - keep themselves out of prison and walk away.

That like is for it being a very logical - and scarily rational - explanation.

I think they're testing to see if Parler will really allow them to use the platform to organize rallies - and so far, Parler seems happy to allow it. Also, there was that little bit yesterday where someone even more racist than Enrique Tarrio called him out on Twitter or Parler and announced that he was in charge of the Proud Boys now, and that they would immediately be rebranding as the Proud Goys - just to remove any doubt that they're anti-Semitic as hell.

Pennsylvania Postal worker recanted allegations of ballot tampering, officials say

"A Pennsylvania postal worker whose claims have been cited by top Republicans as potential evidence of widespread voting irregularities admitted to U.S. Postal Service investigators that he fabricated the allegations, according to three officials briefed on the investigation and a statement from a House congressional committee. "

This guy has raised over $136,000 in a GoFundMe campaign from gullible Republicans

EDIT: @DarkAudit beat me to it, but I'll leave my links up because of paywalls, and I have no idea if the WP story mentions the GoFundMe.
