Gas Bandit's Political Thread V: The Vampire Likes Bats

Where it will die.
I think you mean "won't even be brought up to a vote"...

What I'm trying to say is, I think it's unfair to expect Gas to punch the Kocheses.
But at least he could show us how willing he is to punch some Kochs for the cause...

I mean, if libertarians aren't willing to come down hard on the Kochs, you can hardly blame everyone else when they assume they actually like Kochs all up in their business...

I believe the kochs are libertarians. If they could be corporate overlords of America but abortion had to be legal, they'd take the tradeoff. It's just as it stands now, supporting the Republican Party by helping them ban abortion is their best shot.

Yeah, @GasBandit! Why aren't you getting up off your ass to punch a Koch?

Okay, I was gonna continue this post by sarcastically pointing out that all the people calling on Gas to actually do something aren't actually doing anything either. But you know what? I fell in love with my opening line, and I'm just gonna let it stand on its own.

Space pirates.

SPACE PIRATES.

"Pirates threaten the open seas, and the same is possible in space."

Fuck all the idiots who voted for Ted Cruz because they're also stupid enough to believe this shit.

Well, sure. Space Pirates might be a thing some day when space travel (if space travel) becomes easier and more accessible. Today it is just an imaginary threat, though. Cart before horse and all that.

How dare libertarians! If they don't want to be associated with the Koches, then they should stand up and say they're not adhering to the right political beliefs.

... Oh wait, @GasBandit did that?

... HOW DARE HE!

The dangers of mass weaponization of space come long before piracy. This is like a plan to put landmines surrounding major US cities because we want to stop a possible invasion at some point in the future.

Personally, I wonder if the Kochses get associated with Libertarians because most (non-Libertarian) people think that “Libertarian” is just amother way of saying “Laissez-faire capitalist” because they assume the “personal freedom” part means “I get to do whatever the hell I want and no government is gonna tell me otherwise.”

I think it's because some people just view everyone who doesn't fanatically cling to the exact same beliefs as them are all enemies to be destroyed and the names (and facts) don't matter.

I thin We the people should demand he post a video of him punching a coc... i mean, Koch... a Koch...

So you think none of the people calling him out vote demonrat?

It's a FPTP system, not holding your nose and voting for the main opposition in order to squash their idiotic idea is helping them. The republicans get that and that's why the always fall in line and get their horrible ideas implemented even though they're only supported by like 30% of the population.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you: Part of the Problem.
Admit it, you just don't want to show us how you punch Kochs...

Let me ask you a hypothetical situation - if the Kochs' had done this but claimed to be democrats, what would you have done that Gas hasn't?
Maybe not vote for the people taking money from them?

REmind me again, how many waitresses did libertarians and republicans vote into office lately?

#SheHasAPlan is trending on Twitter regarding Elizabeth Warren.

I bring that up only because she should make that her campaign slogan if she hasn't already. It's short, simple, direct. Julie and I started going over winning and losing campaign slogans, and aside from some re-election clunkers from W. and Bill Clinton (though they still won) most are shorter and more striking than the opposition. The marketing of a good slogan can be what keeps a candidate in people's heads and rouses them to the polls.

It was also interesting to see Reagan's 1980 slogan was "Let's Make America Great Again." Trump probably thinks he thought that up.

Side-note: I'd really love to see Trump have to battle fellow Republicans in the primaries. I know he's trying to make himself immune, and he's broken so many other laws that it might happen, but I want Larry Hogan and others to make him work for it even just a little bit.

FTFY!!!

Because, really, that's why they loved him in 2016...

Looks like it's "blacklisted debtor" or what we might call some sort of grifter registry.

Ah ok.

The characters are 老赖, pronounced lăo lài. The first character usually means "old", but in this context it means "always" or "long-term". The second character can mean "rely", but it also means "to deny" or "to refuse". It's used in the phrase 赖帐, which means refusing to pay a bill or a debt. Consequently, the combined phrase lăo lài means "someone who always refuses to pay debt(s)".

So within a week of passing an anti-abortion law, the capital of Missouri gets hit by a massive tornado. That means god is angry about the bill right?

I fucking can't even. Fuck your immigration authorities. If the next president is a democrat and nothing is done, then fuck off forever.
Dude, we've told them to stop. Repeatedly.
But they just won't listen, and unfortunately it's the government so it's not like we can just take our business elsewhere.

A lunatic minority took advantage of outdated election systems to hijack the government. It'll be awhile before we can repair the damage, but we are trying. We swear.

Prominent bishop haranguing people on twitter not to attend LGBT events this week as "bad for children."

Tell me why all organized religion shouldn't just DIAF? I realize we have practicing clergy on this forum, but the amount of hate and intolerance coming from the wider religious community makes me want to reject the whole thing.

This was the moment when I really started to question my faith. The moment from then on I wanted to do violence to anyone who uttered the words "God's plan." WHAT KIND OF PLAN REQUIRES YOU TO RANDOMLY DELETE A THREE YEAR OLD!?

DA I mean this genuinely: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theodicy

Broadly, "Why do bad things happen to good people?" is a topic that's been debated for literally thousands of years (at least). And how/where God fits into that (if they do). I don't know if you've seen the term before, but there's a start. The resources are literally legion, so I figured linking Wikipedia will at least get you familiarized with the terminology.
