Gas Bandit's Political Thread V: The Vampire Likes Bats

On October 18th, you could always just drive up to Canada while you're waiting for this to happen, which could be a while.
Yeah but I can't bring it back. Not to mention crossing into the US is going to be a nightmare once legalization happens.

Boys, boys, he isn't an ISIS member disguised as a Syrian refugee so we don't want him. Stay in your own country Guy Whitey.

Levity aside, it's a fair deal more difficult than one might think to obtain Canadian citizenship. I've heard it takes 6 to 10 years and they're highly selective.

I would literally resign on the spot if told I would have to provide escort for a KKK group.

Jokes on them, they have to ride our metro. Enjoy the delays and random fires, you hateful asses.

I'll be in NYC that weekend, so I'll have to hear how it all goes from afar or when I get home.

In this case the officers are probably just pissed that they have to work and can't attend the rally in their regular uniforms, and have to show up dressed as cops instead.

After the recent Las Vegas shooting, there is a movement to revoke the NRA’s nonprofit status.
There was another one? I can't keep up with it all.

Maybe the CEO should bail out the NRA. They can't function because they've lost out on lucrative deals because the 2nd amendment is a profitable excuse. That's why they're against 3D printed guns; they can't monetize those.

There are also those seeking a ban on high-capacity magazines and semiautomatic rifles and long guns that use self-loading magazines...but still no march organized to call for better methods to identify and treat addiction, bipolar disorder, or other mental illness.

People are already demanding universal healthcare.

The cop sitch in Portland yesterday is pretty distressing.
Yeah, I love it when my peace officers decide to lead a two-block White Pride rally through downtown Portland while shooting flash bang grenades and tear gas canisters into counter protesters.

Yeah, I saw the picture of the kid who took one right in the head and was only not killed because the helmet absorbed some of the impact. Still has a fractured skull.

Not only that, there are reports that the police refused to enforce the improvised weapons ban. So the "peaceful" marchers who "just came to exercise their right to free speech" in body armor, with weighted boxing gloves, metal flag poles, and all kinds of other wonderful "speaking implements" were free to march through town intimidating whomever they wanted. I swear that fucking department would love to have a massacre just so they could get more military hardware. Maybe some of the citizens of the city should start sucking the cops off like the fucking Proud Boys do so they'd actually defend the city.

First they came for the Nazis and I did not speak, for I was not a Nazi.

Then things were a bit better because there were less Nazis.

Didn't know quite where to put this - funnny pictures, political, webcomics - so I decided to just plunk it down here.
Zach Weinersmith, of SMBC-infamy/fame, has launched a new, political webcomic along with his brother, with the intent to give poliiically-semi-neutral information about the US political system. The first few instalments can be read over at Laws and Sausages .
Zach is more left-leaning, but the comics so far seem to be more neutral, as far as I can tell - but I'm an outsider, of course.

Read through a few, and so far it's... really not entertaining.

I've read all of them. The jokes are simple and few. It's a straightforward simplified lesson on a variety of political subjects.

And it's sorely needed.

It's not meant to entertain, but to educate, and is aimed at an audience unfamiliar with the details of our political system. In other words, it probably won't be all that interesting to most of us here since we all have a reasonable grasp of the basics. There's a whole bunch of people on all sides of the spectrum, though, who could use a little learning in this direction.

I suspect they aren't doing it for immediate effect, but to have a good, long series of easy to grasp, bite-size knowledges that will be helpful as people work towards the 2020 election.

So far it appears to be non-partisan. If they made it partisan they'd get more attention, so who knows how long they can walk the fenceline. Perhaps they're hoping they'll be picked up in education.
