Minor victory thread

Just got back from a local Holi Festival celebration. I'm covered in bright colors, and we had a blast! Good food, good music, fun times. :D
Part of the reason I did the Color Run 5k is because I have wanted to go to a Holi festival ever since a co-worker told me about what it was like in her hometown in India. Did you get to try any homemade sweets?

No, unfortunately. I could have, but I just stuck with an early dinner.
The lady I worked with who had told me about Holi was always bringing me food since I told her I knew nothing about Indian culture or cuisine. Her daughter got married while we were still working together. She brought me some of the sweets from the wedding. I think one was ladoo. Not sugary sweet like we think about here in the US, but it was very tasty.

My hair is almost platinum in time for a much needed vacation :)

If I could have imagined a way in which pink highlights would have been at all professional this would have been an epic win!

I've dropped nearly 60 lbs in the last two years, I really ballooned up once I came off my treatment. I weighed in under 300lb for the first time in over 7 years. That is why this is a minor victory, Loose 60 lbs and I'm still a fat S.O.B.

Spotted a quarter embedded deep in the ice on my way in to work this morning.
Spotted it still there but melted free on my way home.
Cha-ching!

Got sick. Dog tired today. But tomorrow all my classes are cancelled because of a field trip! Wooo, free sick day with no sub planning!

Right now, I'm earning brownie points with my wife for helping out with the new puppy. How? I split my lunch break into two half hour breaks to go home and watch an episode of Archer while playing with a puppy, who so far mostly wants to nap in my lap.

Same guy that messed up last night called to apologize, and agreed to take the Friday night shift in place of last night. So I still wind up with a weekend after all.

PROTIP: don't trust alarm clocks in strange hotels.

I had to hold my daughter down for a 40-needle allergy test. Yeah, that sucked....

OTOH, she apparently does NOT have crippling dog-related allergies, which is awesome, because this means we can get her a puppy at some later date.

Problem appears to be with her adenoids, which we were figuring would happen, as both my wife and I had to have ours out (for me, tonsils, as well) at about the same age.

So she WON'T have to have weekly allergy shots like my wife did, when she was young.

I have totally been there. It's not fun to get that 40-needle test...

Poor kid has had a shitty month with regards to doctors and whatnot. I had to hold her down when they drained her sinuses when we went to the ER at the beginning of the month. I felt like such a heel...

Of course, like most people down here, she has a HELL of a reaction to the pollen, so she's still Skippy the Snotmonster in that regard. But at least we might be able to get her a dog... the last couple times she's played with the Labs across the street was when she had her bad reactions - I guess the heavy pollen dose, combined with enlarged adenoids, are what lead to her asthma issues.

BTDT with both the 40 needle test and having my tonsils & adenoids taken out. My allergy tests didn't happen until I was an adult though and it was still rough. I wish someone had been there to hold me down. I had three severe reactions and they itched so badly that I was almost crying.

Again, I've been there. I hasn't more than 5 or 6 when I had my needles, so they literally had a team of nurses holding me down while I went ballistic from the painful itching. I STILL had to get shots until I was like 10. Shockingly, I was totally cool with getting my tonsils taken out because they had been bothering me for awhile.

I'm not sure if I call this a victory, but it's something and I want to tell somebody.

So recently, after being single for 7 months now and finally out of my depression and into a much happier, more confident state of mind, along with working out a lot and changing my look a bit, I'm getting some decent female attention.

I went on a date with one girl, mentioned here before, and she messaged me later for more possible dates.
I'm basically dating another girl (but we're not official/exclusive yet) and things are going well there.
I've been complimented by several female friends, which is cool, BUT

Here's what my post is actually about--

One of my good female friends, who is dating someone, started texting me from across the table at a friendly get-together sort of thing while we were all drinking, basically being like "If I were single I'd really want to make out with you." I, in my mildy drunken but intrigued state, sent back, "Well, I hate that you're not single then!" She was like, "Wait.. so you wouldn't be against that?" to which I responded, "I would be so for that, jesus christ." It kind of went from there and ended with a "... Let's talk later."

Which ended up with making out a bunch.

After an initial bit of making-out, she just says, "I have been wanting to do that for MONTHS," which completely took me by surprise, so I was like, "Really? Why?" to which she responded, "Because you're funny, and fun, and so god damn attractive."

So, again, completely taken by surprise and quite frankly very flattering. I've never gotten anything close to that kind of attention, especially latent urges that tempt a girl to cheat on her boyfriend.

We talked a bit and established that it was a one-time thing, just some fun, that it helped her figure some stuff out, that kind of stuff.

So again, it's not a victory per se, but I got to make out with one of my very attractive friends, got a huge ego boost, and yeah. She did make it very clear that she wanted to do a lot more but just couldn't, which is GOOD AND THAT SHOULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED, but my guy brain is just like, ".... Damn it!"

If you can figure out a way for others to
finally [get] out of my depression and into a much happier, more confident state of mind, along with working out a lot
you'll be raking in millions. Lucky bastard.

(yes yes, i'm in a steady relationship right now, but I'm talking in name of my few-years-ago self, as well as a few other forumites here)

Professor handed back our last test today. She said the grades were really bad all around and that she might curve the grade 15 points because the highest grade was an 85.

I got an 85. :D

Made it home to Tacoma safely from the people's republic of Walkerstan. First class flights on Delta are amazingly comfortable, have real food that doesn't taste like ass, and great service. Only a minor victory because we got home to... Cat Shit. Cat shit everywhere. Now we're going to have to embark on a major cleaning expedition and rent a carpet cleaner to get all of the shit and piss stains out.

This is the best stuff on the face of the earth. It doesn't stain or bleach carpet and removes cat and doomweasel stink alike.

Excellent, I shall endeavor to purchase that then. Cuz this place was nice and clean when we left, and now it's a giant stink-hole of suck. Except for our bedroom, master bathroom, and walk-in closet. The only rooms they didn't mess up.

Nature's Miracle works really well, too. I used to use that for my cats and ferrets accidents. You'd never know it happened. You can find it at Petco, but I don't know where else they would carry it.

There's a large number of enzyme-based cleaners on the market. The important thing to remember when using an enzyme-based cleaner/deodorizer is that you have to a) let it sit and b) not dry out in order to do its work.

WooHoo! Just got two checks in the mail, total of $300! Only a minor, because it was my money to begin with, deposits on phones that AT&T required, but that's money I can use for something else now... like an airline ticket to Walt Disney World next year.

Didn't expect to run into David Tennant at toys r us today. He was with family so I didn't want to bother them but it was definitely unexpected to be looking at board games then look up and see him.

I guess he's been filming on the island recently.
