Not every, but most of them. They were about "Protagonist and friends" as opposed to just "friends." At least that's how I saw it... but it's been 30 years for most of these, so my memory might be unreliable. YMMV.

Alright, so here's the thing, I've never liked Scooby Doo. Fuck that show, that's what I always said. All of the series throughout the ages, the original, that garbage 13 Ghosts Scrappy Doo nonsense, A Pup Named Scooby Doo from when I was a youngin' watching Saturday morning cartoons. Crap, all of them. Well, with the exception of that weird ass movie where Shaggy becomes a werewolf and has to be in this fuckin' crazy race against tons of other monsters kind of Wacky Races style, I loved the shit out of that when I was 6 because I was a total Universal Monsters kid then.

Why am I a 31 year old man enjoying the bejesus out of Mystery Inc? That show is legit good.

You are totally right. Wow, I've guess I've never thought of that phrase in a negative way for some reason but it turns out is does mean over acting doesn't it? Learn something new every day.

It is legitimately good. It's like they looked at all the core elements of Scooby-Doo and figured out how to infuse it with characterization and depth along with some good old-fashioned poking at some of the franchise's various moments (such as Fred telling Daphne to never bring up Scrappy-Doo ever again).

Or how they said Flim Flam was tried an adult! That show was annoying for a BUNCH of reasons and he was one of them and it pleases me that he is in jail.

... and they cancelled it after 1-2 seasons, though at least they finished up the Myth arc. It's getting replaced with Be Cool Scooby Doo which looks absolutely stupid and full of dumb comedy. But hey, that's the entirety of the network outside of Adventure Time and Regular Show. I'm looking at YOU, Uncle Grandpa and Annoying Orange.

Seriously though... Mystery Inc. is the most subversive show I've ever seen. I am seriously considering buying all the DVDs.

Hey what about Steven Universe? That show's good. And Uncle Grandpa I like, but I get why others don't. Annoying Orange is a plague on this Earth, and should go back to the internet where it belongs.

And in looking up Be Cool Scooby Doo, I also learned that they are doing ANOTHER Tom and Jerry show, and Bugs Bunny sketch style show called "Wabbit". While indifferent to Tom and Jerry, Wabbit BETTER have Elmer Fudd as a major freaking antagonist. I liked The Looney Tunes show(mostly), but it bugged the shit out of me that Elmer Fudd had such sparse roles.

Wabbit looks like it's going to be closer to the original Bugs Bunny sketches... which is fine, even if I like the Looney Tunes show.

Lookin' forward to it, I missed when they made sketches. Looney Tunes show was good, but I always felt it was a weird leap.

Their also making a show called We Bare Bears. Its about three bears trying to fit into human society...okay.

So I've been watching old Doctor Who. Well, old since the series returned in 2005. Skipping some episodes, like most of Season 2 except for the 2-parters. Man that season was bad. Just starting on Martha now and just finished my personal favourite episode, The Shakespearean Code. It's not one of the better episodes, but it's one of my personal favourites. It came out around the exact same time I was taking a full-year Shakespeare class in university, so it was just well-timed in my life.

Anyway, a thought occurred to me regarding Tenant. He's having sword fights, running about, riding on horses, snogging pretty women left right and centre. And I realized there's a great word that sums up his character very well: SWASHBUCKLER.

It got me thinking of how you could sum up other Doctors. Eccelston, for example, I think could be summed up with "PTSD." Matt Smith is proving tougher than I thought, as I can't think of a good way to sum him up. What do you guys think?

That's not bad. I threw the question out on Facebook and a friend of mine replied, "Trickster." Less in the Loki manner and more like Coyote or Anansi. His words: "Play the buffoon while having everything running much deeper underneath. Try to plan long cons but more often saving yourself/the day through a quick trick. Chaotic yet always in control."

This would play with the playful child feel of him, as well as the ongoing "The Doctor lies" theme throughout his run.

Tonight's Grimm was an acceptable if not particularly remarkable episode. The preview at the end, however, sure makes next week's look like a hum-dinger.

I'd say the trickster label would apply more to Tom Baker. That was kind of his schtick, and I get a totally different vibe from Smith. Smith, as was pointed out, was always excited and wanting to know everything about everything, like a child, so I think that part fits.

Also, I really liked the Black Sails finale...

though I will miss Mr. Gates dearly. I still wonder if Billy is dead, since he is very much alive in Treasure Island, but this show doesn't need to be a faithful prequel to the book if it doesn't want to.

Also, the Spanish Man'O'War when it comes about after the failed ambush was a fucking awesome oh fuck moment.

That reminds me of the time I tried to read Treasure Island to the little woman. The centuries-old pirate lingo was so arcane she could barely understand a word of it, and I had to stop after every paragraph to explain what just happened.

On Stranger Tides (the book, not the POTC movie) went over better.

All that talk about Scooby Doo Mystery Inc. remind me- I completely forgot to finish season 2! So I did...HOLY SHIT! When I finished season one I knew it was the best Scooby Doo show ever made, but after finishing it this its honestly one of my favorite animated series. I mean hell, this is probably the first Scooby Doo series to have a straight up DEATH count. Not counting Zombie Island, as we didn't see how they were murdered and what-not. And while I really really REALLY wish they made a third season, I honestly think it ended on a good note.

As for the new series "Stay Cool Scooby Doo", I'm conflicted. On the one hand it feels akin to the classic style of Scooby Doo and there's the possibility that THIS show would use all the cliche plots, leaving room for the movies to DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT!"Oh look, it was a guy in a mask! Didn't that deserve three times the ammount of time it would take on a regular show?" But on the other wing, it also feels akin to "What's New Scooby Doo?" in how it was a reboot of a classic show...and not much else. Outside of Daphne having karate powers it was nothing to sneeze at, and I fear the new show will be that as well. Time will tell I guess.

Hannibal last week ...

I had a feeling someone was going to be offed by the end of the episode, but I wasn't expecting that. Also, Hannibal is making more mistakes. He clearly does want Will out of prison because he misses him (likely less out of real friendship or "love" as he calls it and more because it's boring without Will around), so he's not sabotaging himself on purpose. Offing the judge seemed like a desperate move, but it should cause a mistrial, which means everyone starts over, testimony and all. Not sure if that's a good thing--I thought Freddie Lounds got served properly. On the other hand, Will's defense is dangling by a thread.

So last night's Archer was pretty good. Barely any "OUTLAW CUNTRY!" and back to the old school "lost in the field" schtick that mishmashed together elements of previous episodes to make a new one with a small twist at the end that I didn't see coming. Also WHY ARE WE NOT DOING "PHRASING" ANYMORE?!

watched the first two episodes of Justified yesterday. I heard from people here how good it was, but I was still surprised how much I enjoyed it.
