What are you playing?

Yeah, it was insane man. Maybe if MY STUPID GIANT FLYING ROBOT HAD ACTUALLY DONE SOMETHING THAT MIGHT HAVE HELPED?????

My Psycho's special power is running up to the bad guy and hitting him with a stick. Try THAT with Wilhelm!

This is one of the reasons why the Commando turret is better than the mechromancer bot: It doesn't fly around... it just shoots shit. Combine that with the ability to slag and/or shoot a devastating missile volley and it will chew up Wilhelm.

I've never really understood the whole switching elemental weapon types thing... I'd always just stick with explosive weapons because they were good in just about every situation. Even against armored guys they'd just tear down the armor fast enough that it didn't matter... though I believe it might be because my turret was slagging everything for me already.

Explosive is slightly better than non-elemental, but in my experience not as good as using the proper element. Against enemies with big shields (especially eridians in BL1) lightning weapons were essential, and against most flesh based enemies, you couldn't beat fire (especially if you had the Maliwan Hellfire SMG). Explosives are a good fallback weapon, but especially if your guns are falling behind in levels, using the right element for the target can really make the difference. But yeah, if you've got orange or purple explosive weapons at or near your level, the enemy will die real good.

Of course, if you're an anarchy mechromancer with "close enough" and a non-elemental texas quad, shit don't matter one way or the other.

It might just be that switching isn't as important when you account for slagging. Statistically speaking, electric is probably the best all around weapon to have as your "normal" weapon (as it's .9/1.5/.9 versus explosive's flat 1.0 across the board), but it all comes down to whether you want your damage all at once or over time. I prefer all at once.

And explosions. I LOVE explosions. You should try a Torgue explosive shotgun (like a Ravager) with Close enough. It's kind of amazing.

Except he wasn't even flying around. Just stood there. Really weird. Normally he just thrashes everything on screen. It was very strange.

Sounds like Deathtrap just had a brain fart in that one fight for some reason.
Occasionally the NPCs in the game will just do that. Like last night I was playing and this goliath just stood there looking around and didn't shoot or anything...until I knocked his helmet off and he went batshit insane with anger.

I love pinging the helmets when the closest other bad guy is a helicopter. Watching the goliath jump around like an idiot is strangely satisfying.

Bravely Default had irritated me, now that I know what chapters 5-8 are going to entail, especially since I figured out the plot twists forever ago. My urge to keep playing has dried up somewhat, but I probably will anyways.
A lot of people seem to be having problems at that point. From a review I read, I'm gonna take a stab at guessing ...

There's some kind of time loop crap where you have to do the crystal thing all over again?

All over again..... FOUR TIMES

...

At that, I'd probably just watch the true ending on Youtube. I've heard the game is already long; I don't get why the padding.

I was going to give it a try if I found a lull in games at some point this year, but that just sounds frustrating as hell. No thanks, Squenix.

I'm thinking about getting it. Did you get the DLC too? Are they worth it?

EDIT: Bah, it's gone up to $20 now. CURSE YOU HUMBLE STORE!!
It was a 24 hour sale. The only DLC I got was the child's play costume pack, because it was a dollar and it was all going to charity anyway.

My wife's been playing Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate to catch up to where I am, so I shouldn't have been surprised that she's gotten pretty good at it when we finally did a multi-player hunt tonight. She usually isn't great with action-oriented games, but she cut the fuck out of the most annoying monster I've hunted yet. Her hands were hurting by the end of it, but when she saw the gear she could make from the Golub's parts, she wanted to hunt it some more.

... I've had enough of that fucking Golub, I absolutely hate the bastard, but I'll help hunt it for her so she can have the cute outfit she wants.

I picked up Farcry 3 at random over the weekend because it was 8 buycks and I wanted to try it. HOLY MOTHER OF PEARL I AM SUCKED INTO THIS MADNESS! I am loving the skulking around and retaking enemy outposts without them ever seeing me.

Played about 3 hours of Thief. It's not terrible.

Game is BADLY optimized, I know when guard patrols are coming... why? The game LAGS. Seriously? I'm at awe on how badly this game runs on my rig.

There is some good to this game but it's marred with a weak UI and more importantly needlessly tacked on hold this button, tap this button needlessly to do the simplest of things. I've jimmied a hundred windows, WHY do I have to do it again and again? The mini-map doesn't update so when exploring I don't know if I went somewhere or not. Many poor choices were done. Didn't they play test to see feedback on some of these things?

I think I got my demo's worth and un-installed the game. Maybe they'll patch it to play decent. By then, I'll pay what it's worth $10 when it's on sale at X-Mas.

Banished. I finally have a successful-ish town, and it only took 44 hours of game play and more restarts than I care to count to get there. Still a lot of fun, though.

I love Banished.Though it could do with more building options, decorations for your town and maybe something like defending yourself from bandit attacks or so.

A few tips, Gatherers are a must, since they bring the most food of all the food production buildings. Build a Forester,Gatherer and Hunters Hut all near each other so that their area of influence overlaps as much as possible. On the fringe of the AoI build the storage area and a barn.

Try buildin a marketplace as soon as possible which should be the center of your town, because your crafters and villagers will take the materials that they need from there instead of wasting time going from one storage/barn to the next. On the edges of the Area of Influence of the marketplace should be the storage/barn which in turn is within th AoI of your Wood/Gatherer circle. Think of it as a venn diagramm with the circles barely touching.

Also, the more houses you have, the faster your population will grow, for couples will only make children in a house of their own.

FTL and there's just absolutely NO fucking way to win this game. Seriously: none. I have tried over and over - even on Easy mode - and there's just no way to beat.

I give up.

Have you unlocked any of the ships? Rock cruiser and upgraded Kestrel both make the early game a lot more stable and give you time to find crew members/system and weapon upgrades to get through later areas.

Currently in the 80hr mark in Kingdoms of Amalur after completing the Main Story, most of the Main Side Stories, the First DLC Main story and most of the First DLC Side stories and now almost completely through the final DLC and it's Side Stories.

I'm actually dreading finishing this because I'm so enamored with this game and it's universe. At least I have the books now!

Bioshock Infinite is amazing, but I do have one gripe: why no I can haz pants? Every gear drop (and I am a meticulous scavenger and miss almost nothing) has been shirts, shoes, or hats, of which I have amassed an impressive collection. Unfortunately, I never see Booker, so all I can picture is Daffy Duck when he draws his guns and his pants come off.

I think @stienman's cousin (?) worked on the game. This sounds like the kind of thing we need an answer for. :p Is Booker pants-less the entire game?

It's possible to beat (though I've only done it once or twice total on normal, and my success rate on easy is still under 50%)... it relies on a combination of luck and grinding. If the stores don't show up with the gear you need, you are hosed, of course. If the random events happen that you don't have the crew/equipment to do the blue options, you're often boned as well. And there's not much you can do to affect the happenstance of those two factors.

However the one thing you can do is grind, grind, grind.

Try to explore each sector as much as you can and time it so that you FTL jump out of the map barely 1 step ahead of the rebel fleet (or even if you have to fight the fleet at the exit it's not the end of the world so long as your ship is pretty buff). Try to keep your ship repaired up to 2/3rds hull but don't constantly boost it to full - random events that repair your hull happen pretty often and you don't want to waste scrap on repairs that could go to upgrades when you are likely to get at least a couple free repairs per sector. Until you've beaten the game at least once, I wouldn't worry too much about drones or beams (unless you happen to get lucky and get a drone control for free, in which case, try to find/prioritize defense drones). In combat, try not to use autofire if your weapons don't have the exact same charge time. Wait until they're all charged, then pause and do a massive barrage at once to blow through the enemy's shields and do the most hull damage you can - and prioritize enemy weapons control as your main target, following up with shields once that's down, and diverting a little fire to their engines only when they're trying to escape. Don't bother with bomb weapons or beam weapons - multifire lasers are your best friend, and you don't really need more than 1 torpedo launcher (and if you have to choose between mounting a torpedo launcher and a laser that shoots 2 or more times per volley, pick the laser). Of course, I'm assuming you're manning the mannable stations - having crew at weapons and shields makes all the difference especially later once they level up a couple times, and at engines helps too. If you get boarded, send everybody but your pilot into med bay and open all the doors except the medbay and cockpit to vacuum. Chances are the boarders will scurry into the medbay too, but a fight there favors you because your guys will constantly heal during the fight. Once they're in there you can hit "close all doors" so the ship starts to reoxygenate. Fight any slaver you encounter but always accept his surrender - free crew is good. Try to get 1 rock and 1 engi crewmember. The difference in repairing with an engi is huge, and between the two of them they open up the most blue options in random encounters.

By the time you get to fight the final boss, you will absolutely need full power shields, at least 6 shots per weapon volley (but more is better), and if you can lay hands on a cloaking device or defense drones, so much the better. Prioritize the enemy's torp launcher (I think it's third weapons cluster from the left), but once you've killed off the crew in the compartment (need upgraded sensors to see when the crewman dies) and broken it, it won't repair during that round any more and you can move on to other targets. Try to save your cloak for the "energy surge detected" warning periods. Heavily upgraded and manned engines can save your life here, as they will help you dodge both lasers and torps - but be careful not to go too much into diminishing returns on evade% per level bought.

Also, the first time I managed to beat the game was using the engi ship.

My tactics for FTL?

- NEVER use autofire unless you are using Ions. Always wait for everything to charge up and release it in one burst. This is the best way to deal with shields.
- Multi-fire lasers are the easiest to use but don't give you a lot of options when fighting. I'd stick with them for early runs, then try out Ion weapons. Ions + Beam is deadly but takes practice.
- Ignore what Gas said about bombs: bombs are awesome at taking out systems, but you need to make sure you are using the right kind. I prefer normal bombs and fire bombs. Normal causes damage to systems and crew, with small chance of breach and fire. Fire will ALWAYS start at least one fire in a room and usually more, which makes them great to dump in the 02 rooms of ships. The fire will lock down a room and do damage to the system while crewmen fight it. It also eats up the oxygen, so spreading fire is a great way to seize entire ships.
- When you've got some practice, try seizing enemy ships by killing the crew. You will almost always get more scrap, fuel, and ammo then by blowing it.
- If you see the Scrap Recovery arm early on, buy it. Extra scrap means more upgrades.
- Drone systems are highly useful, especially if you have a drone recovery arm. Focus on defense drones and recovery drones.
- If you have a choice between upgrading your weapons and upgrading your shields, ALWAYS get shields. Having 2 or more layers can make early zones trivial.
- Your targeting priority should be shields, then weapons unless they are running, in which case it's pilot.

Oh yeah, your brother! Sweet! Did you actually ask him if Booker is pants less? Thats so awesome. It certainly explains Elizabeths shock when she first sees him.

Nope, I just said, "Ian, it was recently pointed out to me that all the gear drops in Bioshock Infinite are shirts, shoes, or hats, but no pants. Did the game go gold on No Pants Day or what? Inquiring minds want to know!"

But I only recall the game artwork, were there mirrors in the game? I don't remember now...
I don't remember any mirrors, but during the intro rowboat sequence, your seated character looks down at something in his lap and you can clearly see he is wearing pants.
