And I really have a bit of a WTF over those bones in the trailer.
Yeah, it really made me wonder. It must be an intentional design decision. The only other possible explanation is that this is test footage (can we do a lion fight well?) and the environment was some sort of stock cave-with-bones scene, only there weren't any stock cave-with-elephant-bones scenes in the stock CGI library they use.

If they are incorporating human bones intentionally, there's probably some human element in the story in this version.

...You...you know that Lion King trailer is a fake, right? Or am I just misreading internet comments here?

When I posted it I figured it wasn't real - production values are way too low, but I've decided to run with it just for the laughs.

So, about the bone cave, notice how they're all children's skulls?

Thanks for the clarity. Just one of those moments when the internet can make clarity a little tough.

By the way, they've apparently gotten John Oliver to play Zazu.

Considering how much of that "trailer" looked like it was ripped straight from the Narnia movies (or wildlife stock footage), I had assumed it was fake right away.

Disney has announced it's starting its own streaming service, and thus is pulling all its property off netflix.

Hey Disney, I know you think you're the hottest shit ever, but here's how every american works:

Step 1) Is it on Netflix?
Step 2) Is it on Amazon Prime?
Step 3) YAR HAR TIDDLE DEE DEE

If it were any other company, I'd have my doubts. But Disney has a catalogue that really could support it's own streaming. Not just the animated movies, but Marvel and Star Wars exclusives. Then there's all the tv shows they can stream, plus old ones like original Ducktales, Gargoyles, the Mickey Mouse Club. I could see parents or Disney fans shelling out for this more than, say, HBO Go.

If they package this with ESPN that'd be quite interesting.

Though bad for me since I currently get WatchESPN included with cable.

If Disney was bold they would call the service the Disney Vault, and just open the doors wide open.
That would be the best name for it. Of course, that is if they keep everything together. Apparently, there's a rumor they may be looking at individual streaming services for Marvel and Star Wars.

If so, then yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me.

I've said it before in the last month. It was cheaper to pay for a VPN to stream the BBC iPlayer than it was to pay for ESPN to watch Wimbledon.

Same goes for F1 if it's on Channel 4 in the UK. VPN is cheaper than NBCSN.

Doesn't look like that will be happening until 2019 though.

So many movies that I'll suddenly never be able to watch.
Good thing I already own the remastered edition of Tron on DVD!

They would have to open up at least some, if not most, of their old content - the Disney family movies, Wonderful World of Color, the 80s and 90s movies and cartoons - for me to even consider paying them anywhere close to Netflix/Hulu+ for access to only Disney content. That being said, however, when you start to add in all of their acquisitions that does add a lot of additional content; and if they allowed me to stream any ESPN televised college football game regardless of my geographical location to my TV (not my phone) through an app with a decently polished UI, that would be the day that I definitively cut the cord on my cable TV service.

I read this gem on Imgur today:

Dear media companies: I can afford one streaming service. ONE. The way you all are carrying on, that one service is gonna end up being a VPN.

VPN is cheaper than ESPN or NBCSN. Next step is looking for a good Sky Sports stream for Premiership football.

If Disney moves their stuff to their own streaming, what happens to the Marvel shows that are Netflix originals?
It was said in the agreement that Marvel stuff can stay on Netflix. We'll see how long that lasts. Of course, since Netflix actually MADE a lot of that stuff, I can see Disney not able to stream it on theirs because Netflix can say no.

Yes, Netflix made and manages all of the Netflix Marvel shows. Disney has oversight (mostly so they can make sure the movies and other shows don't contradict each other) but Netflix likely has significant interests in the show.

I'm wondering how this affects the upcoming Hulu show though. Is Disney going to pull Runaways in 2019 as well?

Disney's seeded Marvel stuff all over the place. It'd be difficult to bring it all under one service now.

Just watched it with Li'l Z - we both loved it! I can't wait for more!

I like that they also mentioned Cape Suzette. I'm waiting for the Disney Afternoon cross-overs with bated breath! :aaah:

Yeah, I noticed the Cape Suzette reference too. They also mentioned Spoonerville (Goof Troop). I'd love to see more from all these places.

And we're going to find out what happened to their MOM? FINALLY?

Just watched it, recorded it while out last night, very good opening episode, set the stage, gave hints to future possible stories, good voice acting. Brought back memories of our first dog, a "cockerel-spanish girl" named Lady McBeth, she would get so excited when the music to the original Ducktales would come on and make sure that we knew it was on.

I know right? Plus it being a mystery and all works thematically as its been a mystery among comic fans for EONS-until that one Italian Dutch comic that's semi-canon, but its still an explanation so I generally take it. NO idea where the dad is though, in comics OR this.
