Funny Pictures Thread. It begins again

The 20 year old just hit me with "I'd say if you even bother trying to listen to the radio, that's already the sign you're old."
I have Sirius now because my wife got it for me for a Christmas gift but I prefer the relative randomness of radio vs the way Spotify and whatnot lock you into your own choices.

That being said, I am old so ‍idk.

I must admit I've regressed into full blown "nothing new is good" mode like a REAL codger and just listen to the ~2000ish tracks I have in Plex on random, forever reliving the past.

I genuinely wonder if my "Today's music is ... ehhh" attitude is because it's not like what I grew up with, it is "bad" due to association with the times, it's because I missed all the stuff in the middle (meaning I can't see the transition/evolution), because it's too commercially motivated/formulaic, or some other reason(s).

Though I keep my own MP3 playlists for when we travel out of state, I still prefer to flip through the local radio stations in the car. I like the randomness. Also, I still try to keep an ear out for new artists. There's a lot of "bad", but there are still some gems that pop up.

Unfortunately if you do that here all you get is terrible country music

I am surrounded by teenagers, both at home and at work, and I find that leads to a lot of exposure to new music. Some of it is actually quite good! It’s a great way to keep infusing my Spotify playlists with new songs.

The main reason I dislike radio is that I cannot deal with the stupid ads anymore. And some of my music taste is influenced by my 19 year old, but not all of it. I do take time to find new music tastes on Spotify, which you can do just by being willing to look for new music releases, or search for current music playlists.
