Despite tossing in the little Canadianism at the end, I was really just thinking of US accents. Like does it work as equally for a Yankee as it does for a Cajun?

Bear in mind it's a Scot making the statement.

In a Scottish accent, "girl" is a two syllable word.

I think it's harder to make the argument for space/spice than ghetto/girl.

In many American accents, the T and D sounds are almost interchangable. Same goes for R and D sounds in Scottish.

Really it's just the "Americans saying Rise Up Lights is Australians saying Razor Blades" thing again.
