Canadian Politics

While that's funny, meanwhile in Alberta, our "LOCKDOWN" has been announced. All businesses stay open, including bars, restaurants, casinos, brothels, etc. but holy fuck if you have someone over to your house, you better believe that's illegal.
Do you have to wear a mask?

Is this some hockey joke I'm too much of a hoser to understand?
No. It's a "Thin Blue Line" flag from Walmart Canada's website.

1) The "Cops first, citizens second" mentality is seeping across the border.
2) WTF are they doing? The flag of Canada doesn't come with stripes!
3) You know, I never considered the hockey angle.

We also fired like 11,000 hospital workers IN THE LAST YEAR.

Conservatives are fucking cancer.
Actual, genuine conservatives aren't that bad. I can absolutely understand people being conservative. The modern day "conservative" doesn't care about preserving the past, safeguarding traditions against change for the sake of change, respect for the environment (this used to be a conservative point!), limiting overreach,.... Whatever "conservatives" these days think, they're not actually conservative. They're backwards morons. Half of 'm want a theocracy with a completely externalised morality because they apparently lack any internal controls, and the other half are entitled jackasses afraid to lose their privilege, power and position and just want to go back to the 1950s/1850s (strike which is not applicable) when We were still the only group that mattered, and not Them. And the third half's just rich people looking out for corporations.

You can absolutely be a smart, intelligent, compassionate, caring conservative. There's just no political representation for that group anymore.

Ahhhh good. The UCP is worming their way into the administration of the University of Alberta.

THIS WILL END PERFECTLY WELL.

The Canadian Government has issued a tax free $600 payment to all Canadians with disabilities. The payment was made to all Canadians in receipt of the DTC at the end of October 2020. It was made automatically via direct deposit.

If you qualify, but haven’t filed your DTC forms you have until December 31,2020 and will receive the payment in the spring.

This payment had very little news coverage that I am aware of.

Huh, apparently the Alberta government used the federal Covid relief funds to pay it's staff and for use for fundraising, but declined 300 million meant to pay the overtime and hiring of frontline healthcare workers and such.

I hate this province so much. Like, I'm legitimately at a loss of words to express my deep hatred and loathing of Jason fucking piece of shit Kenney and the UCP.

I hate that I'm fucking trapped here.

I'm honestly thinking of just going bankrupt, letting the bank take this stupid fucking house, packing some clothes into my car and just leaving. Fuck this province and everyone in it.

Ha ha! Scratch that, my new shipment of unbelievably cheap grey market edibles is out for delivery. Time to numb this shit.

8, 8 UCP MLAs and staff traveled abroad for Christmas during a no essential travel time here in Alberta. Fuck this government.

Welp, they've begun leasing and exploration of the Alberta Rockies to companies looking to do open pit mining of coal. All of which has been granted to foreign companies. So our shit kleptomaniac Premier is trading Alberta's actual stable industries (tourism, of which the Rockies play an astoundingly high part in and agriculture, which is threatened by the contamination of water by the mining of the Rockies, something our Conservative premier in the fucking 70s knew was a shit idea and passed laws to prevent it which have stood since then).

Truly the worst government in the history of Alberta. He has 2 more years to fucking render this province unlivable.

I may be moving to Kamloops in the next year. A family (multiple generations of) that I'm close to is planning to relocate. Some have already sold houses and made the move. I may join them.

Kamloops is pretty nice.

Holy shit, there was so much furor and the UCP is so unpopular right now (like lower than pre-NDP government levels) that they're backing the fuck off strip mining the Rockies for coal.

My MLA is NDP, proud of her, as toothless as they are with the minority they have.

Doug Ford whining about Ontario being shorted 70 thousand doses of the Phizer vaccine.

Fuck, if only Canada had a world class vaccine lab. One that hadn't been shut down and sold off by the Conservatives in the 80s. Shucks.

The Governor General and her private secretary have resigned in disgrace after months of reporting that they were failing to fulfill the nobility the position requires! Canada has much shame and no giant dumpster fire to the south to distract us, oh heavens.

Fuck, make me the governor general. It'll be the chillest work environment ever. It's legit the cushiest job in Canadian politics, how the fuck do you run a shitty office where everyone hates you?

Well the press have grabbed the bone that Trudeau bypassed the review commitee to get a star candidate, who upon easy review was a straight up bitch.

Wait a minute - Governor General of Canada? Isn't that like, the most ceremonial of ceremonial positions? One where you don't basically do anything, except go to openings and civic events, and maybe once every 150 years donate a championship trophy to a sport your kids like?

Yes.

Yet it has significant legal ramifications. Without it, bills don't become laws, proclamations stall. As of right now, the supreme court is in charge. Alternatively we are in a minority government and as such, the GG determines the government should it fall. But mostly it is a huge blow to Trudeau and the Liberals.
