Minor victory thread

Not sure if this is a minor victory or minor rant or first world problem, but I have too many parties to go to this weekend and all of them depend on getting my Sunday shift covered. Not sure how I feel about this.

More like "rant if I have to get a doctor's note because I call in sick on a weekend because there is no way I'm working that shift".

Just wanted to shout out to Bubble181 : Thanks so much for the wedding gift! The contribution to our honeymoon fund came in very handy! ^_^ It was sweet of ya.

They had a sale on at the grocery store on cherries and so I picked up a 2 1/2 pound bag. I promptly went home and ate the whole bag. While I am sure I may grow to regret that decision later on for the moment it is a sweet tasty victory and a delicious lunch/snack. Now to go hit the gym to try and work some of those calories off. :D

Enjoy them while you can. We're pretty famous for our cherries here, but this year the crop is only something like 20% of normal.

That said, we started our first ever Rumtopf about 3 weeks ago. We'll see how it turns out.

Is that going to mess up my Xmas Cherry Republic order? :aaah:
(dammit, the iPad doesn't play well with the smilies.)

I've got gyudon for my work lunch again tonight, and I just ordered some beni shoga (slivered pickled ginger) from amazon. Now the only thing missing is the cute Japanese girl to take my order. ;)

I was able to spend the past two days with General Specific and his family, which included a proper geek-out at our local museum and getting kisses from his 3-year-old nephew. :D

It's never too early to begin practising 'the moves', I always say. That one has the beginnings of a playa.

I appreciate that not only does my wife read every page of everything I write, good or bad, but she often picks out things I didn't notice thematically, or elements of my subconscious leaking in. She has a lot of patience far as I can see.

I made it through Star Wars Episode 1 last night. I see now that it is the sci-fi equivalent of the 2008 disgrace that is "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian." Show me on the doll where George Lucas hurt you. Ah, yes. Right there, in the childhood.

No, Prince Caspian was passable. The Voyage of the Dawn Treader is the one you want.

After the pain of Caspian, I REFUSE to watch the 3rd movie. 'Dawn Treader' is my favorite book in the series. I will not have it ruined in any way, shape or form. I should have known better after watching "The Seeker" and seeing my dreams of Susan Cooper cinematic greatness crushed beyond repair.

minor victory: I don't let bad movies' existence affect my enjoyment of good movies ever nor make jokes equating a bad movie to sexual assault
Why don't you step down from your box and take a load off? Your legs must be killing you after jumping to all of those conclusions. Here, have a little snack. I won't be feeding you anymore.

Different victory than the last... Got an email from Comcast right before I left for work. They're doubling my Internet speed at no extra charge. So I should be moving at a nice ~60Mbps clip once I get home to test it out.

Still not time to replace my 10/100 gear yet... yet.

Talking about getting a smaller belt, since I switched to the Primal eating method, which was mentioned by HowDroll, I have had to make 2 new holes in my belt because of weightloss. And im feeling realy good.I sleep well,
wake up perky *wink* and get through the day without the lethargy I used to feel.

This has been happening to all the providers lately, but they haven't been digging up lines. It makes me wonder if they've been purposely throttling their speeds and are only just now using their full potential.

Throttling most likely. There were 50 and 100Mbps tiers for money-is-no-object customers. Used the same gear at the customer's end.

ETA: This greeted me when I got home from work this morning:

I've made that joke before but you failed to sufficiently chastise me for it back then. I wanted to alert you to this fact so you don't go through life wondering if there's someone that didn't receive sufficient righteous indignation from you.

You may proceed to sneer at me.

I'm betting you LITERALLY use the words "George Lucas is a child molester." Oh, what's that? You didn't? You didn't mention sexual acts with a minor at any point in time? How interesting. Neither did I. :troll:

you're being obtuse on purpose.

go ahead and explain to me what you were talking about then with "show me on the doll where george lucas touched you"
