Sooo... I didn't see this coming. I didn't really open the door for a counter-offer at my current employer... but they made one anyway. The CEO and CFO basically took me aside in a meeting this afternoon and showed me all the paperwork where they did their own homework from their own sources... and came to the conclusion that I was right about everything I said.

So, now, instead of quitting to go work somewhere else for a 22% increase in pay.... I will be staying and doing what I've been doing all along for a 57% increase in pay.

... I'm still trying to wrap my head around all this.

And now I get to call the guy I already told I'd be taking the position and tell him oops, sorry, never mind...
BIDDING WAR!

Well, I gotta say, anyone who got me va 57% wage hike would be getting a damn good dinner.
I thought you already had a huge wage hike when you moved out of radio. Just how underpaid were you, anyway?!

On a totally unrelated note, I've been watching some videos on "sovereign citizens" and...good lord. Just when I thought Trump supporters were the dumbest bunch, these morons raise the bar to all new levels.

1)...what?!?
2) How do you steal a radio tower and no one notices?!
3) How do you not notice your radio station isn't transmitting?
It's AM, no one was listening.
That, and:
The tower was probably built way back in the hills with only a 5 mile dirt road leading to it, because it was cheaper, so there was nobody to witness the act
and
It's a radio station, it's probably been reduced to a manager and 2 sales guys, and they outsource one engineer part time to keep everything running, but all the content and on-air "talent" is prerecording their show out of Denver and it's all automation and smoke and mirrors after that, indiscernable from 300 other radio stations across the country airing the exact same thing at the exact same time.

And then OH OH OH, OH REILLEEEEEEEEEEY

Auto parts.

You guys know that scene in the Godfather when Michael and Enzo the Baker are standing in front of the hospital to guard the mortally wounded Don Corleone, and Enzo is so terrified that his hands are shaking too hard to work a cigarette lighter, so Michael lights his cigarette for him? And there's a brief moment afterwards when Michael looks at the lighter in his hands with an expression of mild surprise, because his hands aren't shaking at all? It's like, being scared is normal in this situation, so maybe Michael is pondering why he's not scared, and what that says about him. Basically, you don't really know how you'll react in any given situation until you really find yourself in it, and your reaction may be unexpected and illuminating.

Anyway, today I accidentally spilled an entire soft drink on my father in law, and to my surprise I didn't feel embarrassed at all. It's weird cause feeling embarrassed about something like this should be normal, especially since my FIL has always been nice to me. Maybe I just don't feel embarrassed about spilling beverages on people? What does that say about me?

Unpopular opinion, but "chocolately" chips are better than real chocolate when it comes to ice cream.
As a Belgian, I'm afraid I will now have to ask you to meet me in the courtyard for pistols at dawn.

Since I most definitely won't be up at dawn, though, let's meet up for ice cream in the afternoon.

Every 10 years or so, Warren Beatty films a surreal, mind-numbing indescribable 20 minute Dick Tracy special that airs exactly once on TCM, just to renew his ownership of the film rights to the Dick Tracy franchise until it enters the public domain in 2027.

But WHY?!? Are people really tripping over themselves to get at Dick Tracy? I don't remember a huge demand for it when it came out the first time. And frankly, the only reason I know Dick Tracy still exists is because of the Comic Curmudgeon.

Maybe it's better Annette Bening seems to be the breadwinner in that house.

From what I've read, it's to spite a specific disney bean counter and another studio that tried to make a TV version without him.
